In a dreamlike period in a certain country, Chi Mu Jiu felt as if she were floating on a gentle cloud, living a life of utmost comfort. Each day, she could wake up naturally without a care in the world, fully indulging in her leisurely time.
Du Heng Yan was always so considerate. Even when he was busy at times and she would wake to find him absent, the warm kitchen would always be prepared with a delicate breakfast, quietly waiting for her arrival. Their luxurious sky villa was not far from the gambling area, situated in a neighborhood that resembled a paradise, filled with opulent villas.
Du Heng Yan's brothers also had their own little realms within this villa district. It was no wonder that this group of people were utterly devoted to Du Heng Yan while maintaining a respectful distance; he provided them with food, money, and shelter. With such a boss, how could anyone not be enamored and willing to follow?
On this day, Chi Mu Jiu had just woken up and, as usual, assumed that Du Heng Yan had already left for his busy day. After getting ready, she gently opened the door only to be surprised to find him elegantly seated on the sofa in a crisp suit, leisurely savoring tea.
"Why are you home today? Aren't you busy?" A hint of astonishment flickered in her eyes, and her voice carried a touch of confusion.
"I'm waiting for you," Du Heng Yan replied softly, glancing at his exquisite watch. His deep-set eyes held a trace of tenderness. "I woke up twenty minutes earlier than usual today. Did you not sleep well?"
"No, I was just hungry." Chi Mu Jiu smiled shyly and rubbed her belly.
"Breakfast is ready," he said with a smile before taking another delicate sip of tea, exuding elegance and composure in every gesture.
"Okay." Chi Mu Jiu responded and turned to head toward the dining room.
"By the way, when you said you were waiting for me, was there something you wanted to discuss?" She asked while eating breakfast, glancing up at Du Heng Yan.
"Today, you are the CEO's wife."
Du Hengyan set down his teacup and slowly stood up, walking towards her with steady steps. A faint smile played at the corners of his lips, carrying a hint of mystery.
Hmm?!
Chi Mu Jiu was momentarily taken aback, suddenly recalling that Du Hengyan had indeed mentioned taking her on an inspection a few days ago.
Oh dear, how could she have forgotten such an important matter?
She instinctively glanced at the time, muttering to herself that it must be quite late by now. Although she had no interest in the workplace—after all, so many people were waiting to get their work done—her chewing action unconsciously quickened as she thought about it.
No need to rush; there’s plenty of time.
Du Hengyan saw through her thoughts and gently reassured her. Chi Mu Jiu relaxed slightly but still didn’t want to waste too much time.
There’s a gala tonight at the company. Would you like to join me?
The evening gown is all ready for you.
He asked softly, trying to pique her interest. He hoped she would agree; after all, during her time here, she hadn’t interacted much with anyone other than him.
(Mainly because he was worried his wife might get bored.)

She paused slightly, seeming unfamiliar with the term. Indeed, it had been a long time since she had attended such social events.
