That damned sense of security!!
Who wouldn't love a man who speaks so well?
She paused for a moment, feeling that it was best not to make her words too pointed. She swallowed the hurtful nickname that had been on the tip of her tongue and said, "I think we should first discuss how to handle the car issue."
She took the initiative to link her arm with Du Hengyan's, smiling brightly at the woman.
"Alright."
Though the woman's expression was grim, she knew full well that she was indeed at fault for the accident. Initially, she had hoped to use this collision as an opportunity to get closer to Du Hengyan. In her mind, perhaps it could lead to a beautiful encounter, starting a romantic story with this handsome and wealthy man.
However, the harsh reality struck her like a blow—Du Hengyan was already married.
The trunk of the luxury car, while not deformed from the impact, bore several glaring dents and large areas of scratched paint that were truly heartbreaking to see.
As she looked at the car's damaged body, a wave of regret washed over her.
Paint repair and maintenance would cost thousands.
Du Hengyan merely glanced at the damaged area before casually stating the price.
The woman was about to argue, thinking the amount was exorbitant, but Chimu Jiu immediately interjected, "Settling this privately is good. As long as you pay up, reporting this won't be so simple."
Her words carried a hint of warning.
"If you don't pay me, you'll be responsible for the repair costs. I'm just giving you a number so you can prepare the money in advance."
Du Hengyan raised his gaze to look at the driver, who immediately understood.
"Madam, the banquet has started."
He gently wrapped his arm around her slender waist and slowly turned to step onto the vibrant red carpet that resembled flames.
What a lovely sound.
Du Hengyan's voice was deep and soft, brushing against her ear like a feather.
Chi Mu Jiu couldn't help but feel puzzled by his sudden, seemingly profound words.
"What do you think?"
He raised an eyebrow, tightening his grip around her waist as if trying to convey some indescribable emotion through this gesture.
It dawned on Chi Mu Jiu that she had always called him by his full name, and today was the first time she had used such an intimate nickname for him.
("It's still my own voice calling you, Brother Du.")
"Sounds good. Call me a few more times; I want to hear it," Du Hengyan teased, his gaze fixed ahead, yet the playful tone in his words grew increasingly pronounced.
"I'm not going to," Chi Mu Jiu replied softly, her voice laced with a hint of shyness and defiance.
"That's alright; there will be plenty of opportunities for you to call me in the future." A deeper smile played at the corners of his mouth.
"I—"
Chi Mu Jiu found herself at a loss for words, unsure how to respond to him. How did this seemingly unfathomable man suddenly seem to carry a sense of playful irreverence?
As the two entered the banquet hall, the few guests present suddenly began to whisper among themselves. Despite their efforts to lower their voices, Chi Mu Jiu could still clearly feel the intense gazes surrounding them, like scorching rays of light fixated on her and Du Hengyan.
At that moment, a loud voice filled with excitement called out, "Mr. Du, you finally made it!"
