It was clear that this courtyard was designed for the ladies attending the soirée to chat and unwind.
While the men engaged in lively discussions about business in the banquet hall, the women elegantly conversed and savored wine in the courtyard, relishing a moment of tranquility and leisure. The large swimming pool shimmered under the moonlight, reflecting the silvery glow of the moon, resembling a giant mirror that captured both the bright moon above and the surrounding beauty.
An auction was taking place in the courtyard, bustling yet lacking elegance.
Chi Mu Jiu found a slightly secluded spot to sit down, quietly observing everything around her. She had heard that Mr. Du was also present!
A clear voice rang out, instantly capturing the attention of those nearby.
"Is it really him, the stunning Mr. Du?" another elegantly dressed young lady asked, her tone filled with excitement.
"He's actually here? I thought Mr. Du never attended these kinds of events! I wasn't holding out much hope!"
In the midst of their chatter, Chi Mu Jiu overheard the ladies discussing Du Hang Yan with great enthusiasm. She furrowed her brow slightly, a wave of mixed emotions rising within her.
"My father has been collaborating with Mr. Du recently; they even had dinner together last time," a young woman of Chinese descent boasted among the crowd of socialites, her expression somewhat proud.
"Another dinner?" Chi Mu Jiu couldn't help but feel a twinge of confusion.
"Who hasn't had dinner with Mr. Du?"
"Exactly! I've had dinner with Mr. Du too!" The surrounding ladies chimed in agreement.
Chi Mu Jiu???
Just how many people had dined with Du Hang Yan? Was it possible he had just shared a meal with dozens of people in one private room?
"Mr. Du's business is indeed impressive."
"Excuse me, miss, you look a bit unfamiliar; is this your first time here?"
The young woman of Chinese descent who had spoken earlier immediately spotted Chi Mu Jiu sitting in the back seat, her tone filled with surprise.
"Yes," Chi Mu Jiu replied simply.
Almost every young lady present turned to scrutinize her.
"Miss, you’re not here to see Mr. Du, are you?"
Chi Mu Jiu was momentarily taken aback, not quite grasping the implication of the question.
"You all came to see him?" she asked in confusion.
"Of course! Who else would we come to see? It’s not every day we get to meet Mr. Du!" one lady exclaimed excitedly.
"It’s not just us; all the ladies here are hoping to win Mr. Du's heart. After all, he’s so handsome, has a great physique, and is incredibly wealthy," another lady chimed in, her eyes sparkling with admiration.
"A husband’s looks, a wife’s glory."
The phrase suddenly popped into Chi Mu Jiu's mind. A surge of complex emotions washed over her—pride, helplessness, and a tinge of jealousy.
"Hey, Miss, did you see Mr. Du when you came in?"
How should she respond to this question? Being asked by women who coveted her man whether he had arrived?
At that moment, all the young ladies who had come to catch a glimpse of Mr. Du gathered around her, their eyes filled with anticipation.
