The night before, she had been worn out to the point where she could hardly get out of bed, and the next morning, she found herself awake before she even realized it.
Her heart was filled with grievances and complaints, and just as she was about to close her eyes for a little more rest, she suddenly heard the sound of a door opening.
Through her slightly squinted eyes, she saw Du Hengyan approaching her bed in a perfectly tailored suit, looking like a deity. His shoes were spotless, and as he slowed his pace, they made barely a sound, each step resonating in her heart.
Du Hengyan reached the bedside and quietly gazed at her, his eyes filled with tenderness and indulgence, as if he wanted to melt her away.
"Sweetheart, are you awake?"
Seeing her slowly turn her head to look at him, his tone was filled with concern and gentle words.
Chi Mu Jiu opened her mouth but found herself at a loss for words. Now, every time she saw this man, memories of their domineering and uninhibited postures from the previous night flooded her mind, along with the crisp sound of flowing water that lingered in the room and in her ears.
Those scenes made her blush and her heart race uncontrollably.
"Are you angry?"
Du Hengyan sat on the edge of the bed, raising an eyebrow with a light laugh as he watched her.
This only made Chi Mu Jiu more annoyed. She couldn't find the words to respond and simply pouted to express her protest.
"It seems you're really upset. I have something prepared."
His words left Chi Mu Jiu puzzled. "Prepared? What do you mean?"
She stared at him curiously.
Du Hengyan pulled out his phone and fiddled with it for a moment before Chi Mu Jiu heard their voices coming from it.
Was it a recording from last night?!!
"Sweetheart, are you sure you want to do this?"
"Absolutely."
"Then after you sober up, you can't back out; I won't kneel for the keyboard durian."
"Stop talking nonsense! Just make sure I'm comfortable first."
The recording stopped.
Chimu Jiu's eyes widened in disbelief. When did she ever say that?
I! Chimu Jiu's throat was so hoarse that she couldn't utter a complete sentence. If her body hadn't been so exhausted that she couldn't move, she would have snatched the phone away by now.
Hmm? What's wrong with your voice? Did you pamper Miss Chimu too much last night, to the point where your voice is hoarse?
Du Hengyan frowned slightly, his words laced with teasing, yet his gaze was filled with concern. He couldn't help but reach out to pinch her flushed cheeks; the soft touch made his heart soften.
It was only upon this contact that he realized Chimu Jiu's entire body was alarmingly hot. His expression changed instantly, and he quickly dropped the teasing tone, his face visibly tense.
Why are you so hot?! Baby, where do you feel unwell? Is it a headache?
Chimu Jiu nodded weakly, letting out a faint "mm." She felt her head spinning, as if all her consciousness was slowly fading away.
So it wasn't just because of drunkenness that her head hurt this much.
Du Hengyan clicked his tongue in annoyance and muttered to himself, "Did we have too much fun last night?"
Chimu Jiu wanted to argue back, but she simply didn't have the strength to speak.
Then she watched as Du Hengyan took out his phone and made a call. His voice was urgent and tense; what he specifically said was lost on her as her head spun too much for her to focus.
She felt her head growing heavier and her body increasingly weak.
Du Hengyan! She struggled to call out his name, her voice as faint as a leaf falling in the wind.
"Baby, I'm here. Don't talk, just rest. I've already sent someone to bring medicine."
"Mm."
