The scene was nothing short of terrifying. The people around were dressed in various styles, yet each one of them held a glaring weapon in hand.
"Madam, don't worry. I've got everything under control," Du Hengyan's voice was steady and powerful.
In the next moment, the car door was slowly opened from the outside. Du Hengyan tightened his grip on her hand, the warmth of his touch bringing some comfort to Chi Mu Jiu.
As they stepped out of the car, they instantly drew the attention of everyone around them. The brothers who had arrived in other vehicles were already on high alert.
Who is this person? Why such a grand entrance?
It's rare to see someone like this in our country! That beauty beside him looks intriguing! Too bad she's wearing a mask; I can't see her face clearly.
Whispers filled the air, and Chi Mu Jiu could sense the curious and probing gazes directed at her.
"Make way! Make way!" A rough voice erupted from the crowd, and soon a path began to clear through the tightly packed throng.
A man with a hawk-like nose hurriedly approached Du Hengyan, flanked by a group of people. His steps were brisk, his eyes filled with respect and urgency.
"Boss Du, you're here! It's been a long journey; please, come inside quickly!" The man spoke with an obsequious tone, his demeanor dripping with flattery.
Du Hengyan nodded slightly, his expression cold as a powerful aura suddenly radiated from him.
Chi Mu Jiu closely followed Du Hengyan, her mind racing as she speculated about the identity and background of the man before them.
Who is he? Did I hear that right?
"Boss Du?!"
A gasp filled the air, brimming with astonishment and disbelief.
Is that really Boss Du?!!
Another voice echoed the incredulity. The infamous king of the underworld, the living embodiment of hell itself?
All eyes turned to Du Hengyan, silencing the murmurs that had filled the crowd just moments before. The fact that this notorious figure had shown up at tonight's underground gambling event was nothing short of shocking.
The darkened sky seemed to sense the tension, as large raindrops began to fall, drenching everything in sight.
Underneath a black umbrella, Du Hengyan surveyed the scene with an air of superiority.
In the rain, a man with a hawk-like nose remained slightly bowed, maintaining his posture. His subordinates hesitated to step forward and hold the umbrella for him.
"Get Mobus out here to greet me."
As soon as the words left his lips, his men instinctively chambered their weapons. The onlookers quickly shifted their gaze to the hawk-nosed man, knowing full well that without an order, they dared not aim their guns at this living embodiment of hell.
Jiu's heart raced in confusion.
Aren't they here to gamble? Why are they pointing guns at him?
"Mobus? Who is that?" she whispered.
"The person in charge of this underground gambling event," came the reply.
"It's pouring rain; why is the lady standing so far away?"
As he spoke, Du Hengyan gently pulled her closer, wrapping his arm around her more tightly.
The rain was pouring heavily, and despite his best efforts to shield her, her skirt inevitably got splashed with water. Du Heng frowned slightly, then without hesitation, he lifted the hem of her skirt just a bit.
