The restaurant was sparsely populated, and sensing the unusual atmosphere, the remaining patrons discreetly vacated their seats.

At that moment, upon hearing the name Corey, a look of intense interest appeared on Du Hengyan's face. Clearly, the person being mentioned was an old rival.

Maupassant let out a quiet sigh of relief. He understood Du Hengyan's status and influence; as long as he could please this formidable figure, he would consider it a significant success.
"That will be all," Du Hengyan said, raising his hand with a calm yet authoritative tone.
"Yes," Maupassant replied, slightly bowing in a respectful and humble manner. He then slowly turned and left with his companions.
Despite being the head of an underground gambling ring, usually exuding an air of dominance and decisiveness, it was only figures like Du Hengyan—someone he couldn't provoke or evade—that could command such deference from him.
Noticing the myriad questions swirling in Zhi Mu Jiu's mind, Du Hengyan gently wrapped his arm around her as they exited the restaurant.
The two remained silent during their walk, the atmosphere somewhat tense. It wasn't until they entered the suite that they resumed their earlier conversation that had been interrupted in the restaurant.
"Who is Corey?" Zhi Mu Jiu asked. If she guessed correctly, this Corey must be the international drug lord Lin Lin had mentioned.
Du Hengyan's voice turned grave. "The largest drug lord in the underground narcotics trade." There was a hint of seriousness in his tone as he spoke.
The underground black and gray industries included a staggering seventy percent of domestic drug trafficking that originated from him.
Chi Mu Jiu was taken aback. “He sells drugs himself?!”
Du Heng Yan nodded slightly, “Yes, he has dozens of drug manufacturing plants. In his country, drug use is permitted.”
Upon hearing this, Chi Mu Jiu felt a chill run down her spine. In a place where even drugs were allowed, she found it hard to imagine what kind of beautiful life one could aspire to.
“To ensure the success of this mission, my lady, we need to meet him at the gambling table,” Du Heng Yan said, gently pulling Chi Mu Jiu into his embrace. His voice was calm yet reassuringly firm.
Before coming here, Chi Mu Jiu had only felt that this mission was dangerous. But now, with so much information revealed, she realized that the danger was far beyond mere words could describe. If they succeeded, it would mean ridding the country of a menace!
“What if we can’t find this person?” A hint of worry flickered in Chi Mu Jiu’s eyes.
“There’s no need for you to worry about that,” Du Heng Yan replied with a slight smile. “If someone wants to gamble with me, they’ll have to come looking for us. In this regard, we hold the advantage.”
His tone was filled with confidence, as if everything was already under control. “First, let’s calculate how much he has to lose. We need to play the long game and catch a big fish.”
As Chi Mu Jiu spoke earnestly, she nodded to herself in agreement.
Du Heng Yan couldn’t help but feel both amused and pained by her serious demeanor. He could easily storm into this place and take it down or point a gun at the person in charge to force them to comply. But doing so would break the rules of the gambling house.
Although Du Heng Yan wielded immense power, countless people in the shadows coveted his position.
