"Do you like her, Chi Qiyun?"
As Chi Mujiu spoke, a broad smile spread across his face. The brothers behind him were equally surprised. The lady, who usually appeared gentle and elegant, turned out to be a fierce wolf.
Ning Chen and Jin Su exchanged glances, their eyes reflecting newfound admiration. Today, they witnessed a side of the lady that was starkly different from her usual demeanor. Her actions carried a ruthless edge reminiscent of their own boss. Truly, they were a couple of unparalleled strength.
"Let go of me! Chi Mujiu! You—"
Chi Qiyun's heart raced with fear, yet she continued to curse, her words growing increasingly feeble.
"Yes, keep cursing. The harsher you are, the higher your father's ashes will scatter," came the cold reply.
"You—!"
Chi Qiyun seemed to regain her composure but refused to back down. At this moment, submitting would earn her no sympathy from Chi Mujiu. According to the principle of treating others as they treat you, she should understand better than anyone.
They lifted her into the car; such a splendid performance could not be missing such an important role. Despite her resistance, Chi Qiyun found herself unable to escape, being effortlessly hoisted away by two men who dragged her toward the garden exit.
The bodyguards from the Chi family knelt on the ground, heads bowed in silence, too afraid to speak. Meanwhile, the staff member who had been beaten into submission had already been sent to the hospital for treatment.
Once Chi Qiyun was taken away, Chi Mujiu finally turned to face his mother's grave. His subordinates presented him with a bouquet of flowers they had prepared earlier.
She took the flowers and placed them before the grave. They were her mother's favorite roses.
"Mother, I apologize for disturbing you today. I brought your favorite flowers to make amends. Please don’t be upset; it wouldn’t suit you."
She didn’t want that despicable person to tarnish her mother’s resting place. Even if she knelt down to apologize, it would only bring bad luck, wouldn’t it?
A gentle breeze swept by, carrying the fragrance of the roses, while the woman in the photograph continued to smile sweetly.
"Alright, Zhi Liao," she chuckled softly. "Next time, I’ll bring him to meet you. You’ll surely like him."
The wind picked up, causing not only the hem of her clothes to sway but also the pink petals laid before the grave.
"Madam, everyone over there has left," Ning Chen reported softly after hanging up the phone.
"Zhi Liao," she replied coolly. "This time back, I’ll only pick the softest persimmons."
Wasn’t Chi Qiyun eager for the Shi family’s business? Wasn’t she being quite arrogant? Hadn’t she allied with many families to suppress the Shi family’s companies and groups?
Then she would take them down one by one.
On her way back, she had contemplated how to deal with Chi Qiyun, but now all she wanted was to be as ruthless as possible.
Chi Qiyun's provocation had crossed her bottom line; she would not let it slide any longer.
"Mother, don’t worry. This is just an appetizer; just wait and see."
The wind grew stronger, accompanied by rumbling thunder. The temperature seemed to drop suddenly.
It looked like rain was coming.
