Having been in this country for a while, everything was fine for Chi Mu Jiu, except for one thing: she couldn't buy any snacks. This troubled her greatly. Every time she wanted to sneak out to buy some snacks and drinks, she would be caught by Du Heng Yan.
With no other choice, she had to secretly engage in underground gambling with her brothers, hoping to acquire the snacks she longed for through a little betting for fun.
"I bet two bags of chips!" one of her brothers boisterously declared from across the table, promptly pulling out two small bags of chips from his pocket and placing them on the table.
Chi Mu Jiu was truly craving snacks. After spending so much time with Du Heng Yan, she hadn't had the chance to openly enjoy any treats.
"Also, I'll add two sticks of candy," she said. She wasn't particularly fond of candy, but in this special moment, being able to see the candy felt like a small comfort.
"Madam, are you going to call?" The brothers at the gambling table looked at her eagerly.
In her hands were only two pieces of candy that she had painstakingly saved from Du Heng Yan's rigorous searches. She hesitated; she couldn't bear to part with the candy just for a couple of bags of chips. But then she thought, "I’ll go for it!"
Resolutely, she placed the candy into the betting pool.
The round concluded, and the dealer revealed the cards. Chi Mu Jiu's hand was neither too strong nor too weak; she won two sticks of candy while the chips were claimed by the dealer.
Glancing at the time, she noted that there was still half an hour before Du Heng Yan returned. She could play a couple more rounds.
"I must win those chips!"
"Let’s go for another round!" Her eyes were filled with determination.
"The chips must be mine!"
The brothers burst into laughter. It seemed that Madam was quite pent up; even the boss had a firm side when it came to her!
Usually a devoted husband, it turned out he had some principles when it came to spoiling his wife.
Chi Mu Jiu was teased, but she didn't mind.
Du Heng had been disallowing her from eating snacks for quite some time now. If he got angry this time, who would dare to gamble their snacks against her in the future?
There was a clear distinction between being full for a meal and being full all the time, and Chi Mu Jiu understood that well.
“Come on, come on, let’s deal another round!”
Chi Mu Jiu urged eagerly; she didn’t have much time to continue chatting.
The cards were dealt, and she had a good hand. As expected, she successfully snagged the small bag of chips. Just as she was about to get up, a brother stationed at the door came in with news.
“Madam, Boss Tian is delayed with something and will be late to the gambling area.”
Upon hearing this, Chi Mu Jiu plopped back down into her seat.
“Great! Perfect! While he’s away, I can win some more snacks to stash away. Du Heng definitely won’t find out!”
“Keep an eye out and let me know when Du Heng arrives.”
She instructed while handing the brother who brought the news a piece of the candy she had won.
“A little reward for you.”
The brother chuckled awkwardly and didn’t take the candy.
“Madam, enjoy your game. You should keep the candy for yourself; after all, you’re the only one here who hasn’t achieved snack freedom.”
“Hahaha!”
She felt a bit defeated by that remark.
Chi Mu Jiu raised her head after months of keeping it down, her gaze falling on the snacks.
“What are you laughing about? I’ll talk after I win this round!”
She gritted her teeth and said.
“Madam, let’s play another round; I have something good here.”
A mysterious figure spoke up.
"What?"
Chi Mu Jiu raised an eyebrow, looking at the speaker.
At that moment, he pulled out a pack of spicy strips from his pocket.
