The brothers were not practicing changing diapers with their eyes closed, which wasn't too difficult after all. As Du Hengyan went into the nursery to fetch some laundry, the brothers were on the tatami mat practicing crawling with the little ones.
(Babies under one year old should crawl more; learning to walk too early isn't good for them. Crawling helps with sensory integration and brain development.)
It was quite a harmonious scene to see a group of grown men taking care of babies. In the laundry room, Du Hengyan looked helplessly at the pile of tiny clothes, feeling a wave of frustration wash over him.
These little garments were just too miniature. At that moment, he understood why his beloved wife never let him wash the babies' clothes. After all, standing at six feet three inches tall, dealing with clothes that were only slightly larger than his palm was indeed a bit tricky.
What troubled him even more were those delicate little socks; holding one in his hand felt like holding a tiny toy. Baby clothes couldn’t just be tossed into the washing machine without care. With a soft sigh, Du Hengyan carefully pinched one of the tiny socks between his thumb and forefinger, gently rubbing it back and forth.
He dared not apply too much pressure, fearing that he might accidentally tear it apart. Just then, Chi Mu Jiu quietly appeared at the door and couldn’t help but tease upon seeing Du Hengyan’s frowning face, struggling to handle the sock.
"I didn’t expect the renowned Boss Du to have something he’s not good at!"
Hearing this, a hint of embarrassment flashed across Du Hengyan's face, and his ears turned slightly red. He looked at Chi Mu Jiu with a resigned expression while still rubbing the tiny sock in his fingers.
Blushing or not, he still had to get the job done. He turned to Chi Mu Jiu and asked softly, "Why are you awake?"
As he spoke, the redness in his ears gradually faded away. Chi Mu Jiu continued to smile, the corners of his mouth curving upward.
"How could I not wake up when I get to see such an interesting side of you?"
Her words carried a hint of teasing.
"Tell me, full-time dad, do you need any help?"
Chimu Jiu continued to poke fun at Du Hengyan.
Du Hengyan waved his hand dismissively, refusing, "No need. You just lie down and rest well; I'll handle everything else."
As he spoke, he waved a small sock in front of Chimu Jiu's eyes.
Chimu Jiu burst into laughter at this gesture.
"Du Hengyan, you really are quite the capable one! I was worried you wouldn't be able to handle this task," she laughed so hard that she could barely catch her breath.
"Now it seems I was overthinking it. From now on, all the little ones' clothes will be in your hands!"
A hint of embarrassment flashed across Du Hengyan's face, but he played along with her words, replying, "At your command, my lady!"
The atmosphere between them was relaxed and joyful, warm and happy. He would unhesitatingly agree to whatever she said.
"Alright, get some more sleep. I'll wash the little ones' clothes and then make dinner. What do you want to eat today?"
"I'm craving the fish you make."
"Got it! I'll have the brothers bring the fish right away."
