The newcomer in the unit was clearly the most excited one. Although he had heard of Le Xinyuan's achievements, who could truly be convinced without experiencing it firsthand?

Xia Yi held onto Le Xinyuan tightly, her face beaming with joy.
Le Xinyuan was already accustomed to Xia Yi's personality. She still remembered when they were both selected for the special forces; the commander had asked them why they wanted to join the military. Xia Yi had answered seriously, "Only by marrying a man certified by the country is it worthwhile."
When the commander had turned to her with a look of disdain and asked her the same question, her gaze unconsciously drifted to Ye Qi across the room. The commander had joked with Ye Qi then, leading to two female wolves in their midst.
Oh, that was the second time she had seen Ye Qi; the first was when he wore his military uniform and insignia. Time had flown by; it must have been six years now.
Her thoughts were interrupted as Xia Yi gently shook Le Xinyuan, whispering in her ear, "Why do you seem so distracted today? You’re lucky; Major Yi Ling came specifically for you to this social event."
Le Xinyuan was not unfamiliar with the name Yi Ling. Sitting by the bonfire, she looked past some fellow soldiers toward the man approaching them. He wore a crisp military uniform, two golden stripes on his shoulders and a star emblem on his chest that made all the soldiers admire him.
She had worked on several missions with Yi Ling, so they were somewhat acquainted; his unit was quite far from here. Le Xinyuan truly hadn’t expected him to come.
"Major Yi! Major Yi!"
The soldiers saluted him, and after the formalities were over, Yi Ling’s gaze finally landed on her.
"Xinyuan, congratulations! You’ve earned first-class honors; you should be able to get promoted to lieutenant this time!"
Yi Ling spoke gently, a stark contrast to his demeanor during missions.
"Thank you, Major!"
Le Xin Yan replied respectfully, not addressing the question Yi Ling had posed at the end of his statement. The topic was too sensitive for her; after all, her military friends who had worked with her for a long time knew that she had a father who was a commander in the military district. Although she held a special rank, it was still necessary to avoid any suspicion.
"What were you all chatting about? I could hear the laughter from far away," Yi Ling said with a smile, surprisingly setting aside his status to sit beside Le Xin Yan.
Everyone gathered around the campfire while the social event in the hall was also in full swing.
"Oh, we were discussing who could spar with Sister Xin Yan and earn her favor," someone chimed in. "No, wait! We were actually talking about showing off our abs!"
The soldier who had just spoken immediately rebutted Xia Yi.
Xia Yi's mouth twitched awkwardly; no wonder he was just a rookie—his innocent gaze and lack of awareness were evident.
"This opportunity isn't just for Sister Xin Yan, you know! The social event is meant for all our military friends!"
The other female soldiers sitting nearby teased him.
"We share the same thought as Sister Xia Yi; we need to show off our skills first!"
Some of the boys who admired certain girls felt a bit shy.
Who wouldn't be excited to reveal their abs in front of their beloved?
The girls blushed at the boys' reactions, and the atmosphere became lively and youthful in an instant.
