Yan Yu let out a long sigh, feeling as if she could barely hold on any longer.
"Let me help you," Su Siyu said, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her against him as she leaned against the doorframe.
This was the first time since their marriage that they had such direct and intimate contact. He could feel that Yan Yu's body was somewhat cold. Even though she was drunk, her unique scent still captivated Su Siyu; he surprisingly found himself enjoying this sensation.
"I didn’t know you were drinking tonight. Next time, let me know in advance, and I can come pick you up," he said softly.
After a moment of daze, Yan Yu rested her head against his chest.
In truth, she hadn’t intended to drink so much; sometimes in business, compromises had to be made to foster cooperation. That Cai Cheng really poured it on thick; perhaps he was shocked that a delicate lady like her could drink so much.
As she spoke, she burst into laughter.
Su Siyu knew she was genuinely drunk now; the beauty in his arms had lost all strength. It seemed that when she had been defending herself earlier, she had been holding on with sheer willpower. A wave of inexplicable tenderness washed over him, and he instinctively tightened his embrace around Yan Yu.
"Su Siyu, I feel like I'm going to be sick."
Before she could finish her sentence, Yan Yu covered her mouth and retched a few times, clearly uncomfortable.
Su Siyu panicked, fearing she might throw up right there. It wouldn’t matter if he got dirty, but if it got on her...
"Just hold on a little longer, Xiao Yu. We're almost to the bathroom."
"How can you hold it in? You’re such a typical guy!" Yan Yu retorted despite her discomfort. All she felt was a tumultuous churn in her stomach that was unbearable.
With a flushed face, Su Siyu carried her into the bathroom. As soon as they arrived, Yan Yu bent over the toilet and began to vomit repeatedly until only bile remained. Finally, she felt some relief.
"I want to sleep," she murmured, her eyes barely able to stay open.
Su Siyu heard her and gently wiped her mouth before picking Yan Yu up and heading toward the bedroom. Although they were legally married, they had always slept in separate rooms.
With a hint of hesitation, Su Siyu finally gently opened the door.
"Slow down, let me help you inside."
He carefully laid Yan Yu down on the bed, and she remained quiet in his arms. The familiar softness beneath him made Yan Yu instinctively grasp the hand of the man blushing before her.
"Stay with me tonight," she said softly, her voice so light it tugged at his heartstrings.
Su Siyu's body stiffened suddenly, his heart racing as an unfamiliar feeling surged within him. Looking into Yan Yu's slightly dazed eyes, he found himself reluctant to pull his hand away.
"Alright, sleep now. I'll be right here."
In that moment, he seemed to forget that this was a business marriage, forgetting the complexities of their relationship. He watched as Yan Yu gradually drifted off to sleep, her brows slightly furrowed, suggesting that even in slumber, she was not at peace.
Gently, Su Siyu reached out to smooth her brow but hesitated mid-air. Conflicted emotions swirled within him as he pondered when his feelings for Yan Yu had begun to change. Was it the moment he saw her distressed from drinking too much? Or had the little moments they shared over the past year quietly planted the seeds of love in his heart?
He sat there quietly, thoughts flooding in like a tide. The moonlight outside spilled through the gaps in the curtains, casting a glow on the floor and enveloping them both.
At this moment, all he wished for was for Yan Yu to have a peaceful sleep. That night, there were no pressures of a business marriage, no constraints of family interests—only two hearts gradually drawing closer under the moonlight.
