Unexpected Reunion with an Elementary School Classmate

Tan Jian was about to enter his sophomore year, and the school had assigned each second-year student a junior based on their hometown. They were required to meet with their juniors before the semester started to assist them with various trivial matters.
"Why didn't anyone treat me this well before?" Tan Jian complained.
He dialed the number of a junior named Liu Linmin. From the phone number, it seemed they lived in the same area. Tan Jian introduced himself over the phone and asked if she needed any help.
"I want to go check out the school," the junior said. "Can you take me there, senior?"
"Now?" Tan Jian asked, glancing at his watch; it was just past ten in the morning.
"Sure!" she replied.
They agreed to meet at the nearby McDonald's. When Tan Jian arrived on his bike, the junior had not yet shown up, so he propped his bike up and waited.
"Hi!" someone greeted him from behind.
Tan Jian turned to see a cheerful girl standing there, her hands clasped around a small handbag, her bangs neatly styled, looking quite playful.
"Are you a junior?" Tan Jian asked cautiously.
"Hehe," the girl giggled. "You really don't recognize me?"
Tan Jian was at a loss for words. The girl must have known him, but he struggled to recall her face. She looked somewhat familiar, yet he couldn't place her at all.
Seeing him stunned for a while, the girl reluctantly scolded him, "You blockhead! I'm Liu Yue'e!"
"Liu Yue'e…!"
Suddenly, everything came rushing back to Tan Jian.
Liu Yue'e was his classmate in fifth and sixth grade, and they had shared a desk. Back then, whenever boys and girls sat together, they would inevitably draw an invisible line down the middle of their desk. Anyone who crossed that line would end up arguing for ages.
Yue'e had started developing in sixth grade and grew particularly fast, becoming the target of teasing among boys. Tan Jian had been particularly mischievous; once, in front of everyone, he deliberately poked her chest hard. Yue'e cried out in pain and held a grudge against him, refusing to speak to him until graduation.
After elementary school, Tan Jian never saw her again and eventually forgot all about her.
That was all fine; children were often ignorant and naive, after all.
However, what made things awkward was that Yue'e was also the girl who had received his first kiss.
One day in fifth grade, while they were on duty as classroom monitors after school when everyone else had left, they finished tidying up and began chatting. In a moment of impulse he couldn't explain, Tan Jian suddenly hugged Yue'e and kissed her. She only struggled lightly before letting him kiss her as much as he wanted.
It really was just that one time; afterward, they continued to bicker as usual. But sometimes when they were alone, Tan Jian would hold her hand, and she didn’t mind. Their innocent feelings blossomed quietly like that.
So later on, when Tan Jian bullied her in front of their classmates, it was natural for her to feel wronged and angry. He just couldn’t understand why she stayed mad for so long.
Tan Jian suddenly understood everything.
He recalled all the events from the past, his face turning bright red as he stammered, "Liu... Yue'e...?"
The girl smiled charmingly, revealing her white, adorable teeth, and looked at Tan Jian without saying a word.
"Then...," Tan Jian continued, "who is Liu Linmin?"
"Oh dear," she replied, "Yue'e sounds so cliché; let's just call me Linmin."
After all this time, it turned out that the junior was actually a classmate. Linmin told Tan Jian that when he called her and mentioned his name, she immediately recognized him. Hearing this, Tan Jian could only smile foolishly.
