"You underestimate me too much. Don't forget that I was trained as an elite by Military Intelligence. This little trick won't fool me!" Zhao Wanye laughed arrogantly as he stepped out from behind the door, a smug expression plastered across his face. 0

Seeing Jinyi captured, Zhou Yan's heart sank. Just then, one of the Special Forces Operators beside him raised his gun and aimed at Zhao Wanye. 0

"Put it down!" Zhou Yan shouted angrily at him. The Special Forces Operator glanced at him in confusion and lowered his voice to remind, "Boss, Officer Jiang said to eliminate Zhao Wanye at all costs to prevent any intelligence leaks!" 0

"I said put down the gun!" Zhou Yan yelled, kicking the weapon out of the Special Forces Operator's hand. 0

He knew Officer Jiang's orders all too well. But sacrificing Jinyi for that was something he could never do. 0

"So you're Zhou Yan? The secret ace under Officer Jiang? Hah, it seems you really care about this woman. You haven't learned a thing from Jiang Yaowei's ruthlessness," Zhao Wanye mocked with a laugh. 0

Taking advantage of Zhao Wanye's distraction, Jinyi stomped hard on his foot and quickly grabbed his gun, lifting it up. "Bang! Bang!" The bullets fired into the ceiling. 0

Realizing the situation was turning against him, Zhao Wanye threw something into the air and leaped out of the second-floor window. 0

"It's a timed bomb! Everyone run!" The ticking of the bomb echoed ominously. Zhou Yan reacted first, shouting hoarsely at Jinyi and the Special Forces Operators. 0

In an instant, everyone rushed downstairs, but Jinyi, determined not to leave without completing her mission, raised her gun and aimed decisively at Zhao Wanye as he was about to get into his vehicle. She pulled the trigger and shot him dead. 0

Zhou Yan noticed Jinyi hadn't followed and without hesitation turned back to save her. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" 0

His face was filled with rage as he pulled her arm forcefully to escape. 0

At that moment, the bomb exploded. Without thinking, Zhou Yan leaped forward, shielding Jinyi with his body. 0

"Zhou Yan! Zhou Yan..." Jinyi called out his name repeatedly but received no response. 0

His back was injured from the blast, torn clothing mingling with blood and flesh in a gruesome sight. 0

“Zhou Yan, wake up! You can't die!” Jinyi was frantic, completely flustered. In a panic, she tore off her outer garment and, with trembling hands, ripped it into strips to hurriedly bandage his wounds. 0

At that moment, her only thought was that she absolutely could not let him die. 0

“Hey, are you really that scared of me dying?” 0

Suddenly, it seemed as if Jinyi could hear Zhou Yan's familiar voice again, tinged with a hint of mischief. 0

In disbelief, she wiped away her tears and focused her gaze. There he was, grinning at her with a cheeky smile. 0

“You—” Realizing she had been teased, Jinyi felt a mix of anger and embarrassment. She raised her hand and punched him lightly, her cheeks flushed. Just as she was about to get up, he suddenly hugged her from behind. 0

“Let go!” Jinyi pouted softly, trying to escape his embrace but worried about hurting his wounds. Reluctantly, she leaned against his shoulder and allowed him to hold her. 0

To her surprise, he took advantage of the moment and quickly kissed her softly on the lips. 0

Though there was a hint of shyness on Jinyi's face, she felt no aversion in her heart. 0

Still immersed in the joy of his “resurrection,” the earlier brush with death had left her deeply shaken. Yet the thought of him possibly dying pierced her heart like a sharp knife, causing unbearable pain. 0

At that moment, both Jinyi and Zhou Yan silently thanked their luck that Zhao Wanye had thrown a small bomb. Not only had they escaped unscathed, but it had also blown open the safe, revealing the intelligence documents Zhao Wanye had stolen from the Bureau of Secrets. 0

Zhou Yan and Jinyi exchanged smiles; this battle had truly been thrilling and fraught with danger. 0

After this ordeal, an unspoken understanding and deepening feelings blossomed between them. 0

“Hey, when we get back, you’re going to get promoted!” Zhou Yan maintained his humorous demeanor as he drove, teasing Jinyi. 0

“Do you think everyone values fame and fortune like you do? I’m not doing this for a promotion,” Jinyi corrected him seriously. Her righteous expression made Zhou Yan burst into laughter. 0

Just as the two were teasing each other, a loud "bang" echoed, and thick smoke and flames erupted from the front of the vehicle. 0

“Damn it! It’s an ambush!” Zhou Yan reacted quickly, slamming on the brakes while swiftly shifting gears, trying to reverse the car. 0

However, before they could back up very far, a series of explosions erupted from behind, completely cutting off their escape route. At that moment, a large group of Japanese Soldiers charged down the hillside, surrounding them completely. 0

“What a coincidence! I’ve run into another little Japanese Soldier!” Jinyi pulled out his sidearm with a swift motion, his eyes flashing with a fierce killing intent that seemed to freeze the air around him. 0

After a fierce gunfight, several Special Forces Operators were unfortunately gunned down by the machine guns of the Japanese Soldiers, leaving only Jinyi and Zhou Yan still fighting desperately until their last bullets were spent. 0

“You two are already surrounded by our men. I advise you to hand over the information obediently and not struggle in vain.” 0

To their surprise, the one trying to negotiate was a woman dressed in a Japanese Military Uniform. Her voice was languid and alluring, and she spoke Chinese with such precision that it was nearly impossible to tell she was Japanese. 0

“How can this be? Yan Yan, she looks so much like Yan Yan,” Jinyi muttered in disbelief, shaking his head as he staggered back a couple of steps, only to be roughly bound by two Japanese Soldiers. 0

“Oh, this is really bad.” 0

Zhou Yan looked at the situation before him and shrugged helplessly. He tossed aside his weapon; even in this life-and-death moment, he maintained his nonchalant demeanor. 0
