Two days later, Jinyi and Zhou Yan returned to Military Intelligence. 0

Since they had failed to retrieve the information, Zhou Yan naturally faced a scolding from Officer Jiang. 0

Jinyi anxiously paced at the office door until Zhou Yan emerged and made a funny face at her, causing her to stifle a laugh behind her hand. 0

After enduring several hardships together, Jinyi felt a sudden surge of admiration for him. He was always so clever and optimistic, able to cleverly turn every dire situation into a safe escape. 0

"Hey, why are you looking at me like that?" Zhou Yan felt uneasy under her direct gaze. Jinyi snapped back to reality and quickly turned her flushed face away. 0

But Zhou Yan was relentless, his mischievous eyes fixed on Jinyi, leaving her nowhere to hide. "Jinyi, do you...?" 0

"Zhou Yan, isn't it fine just like this?" Jinyi understood what he wanted to say, but she was afraid to hear more. She worried that she would sink deeper and ultimately be unable to extricate herself. 0

Zhou Yan said nothing, merely walking silently alongside her. He was determined to help Jinyi lighten her burdens so she could live more freely; however, she stubbornly refused to cooperate. 0

She would rather bear those heavy burdens alone than let him share the load. 0

The two walked in silence, the atmosphere slightly awkward. To break the deadlock, Jinyi forced a light tone and turned to him. "So what's next? Shouldn't we continue investigating that piece of information? Feng Jinyan said it was fake, but who has the real one?" 0

"The real one might have already been destroyed, or perhaps Zhao Wanye has hidden it elsewhere. It seems this is destined to remain a mystery!" Zhou Yan sighed lightly, his gaze drifting off into the distance. 0

"I can't let this become a cold case. This is my first mission, and I must complete it," Jinyi retorted firmly, her tone leaving no room for doubt. 0

"Jinyi, why are you so stubborn? This isn't good for you!" Zhou Yan turned to her, worry etched across his face. Her strong-willed and obstinate nature was completely at odds with the scheming environment of Military Intelligence. 0

Jinyi ignored his advice, her mind instead questioning his words. The intelligence had been retrieved from the safe and had been in her and Zhou Yan's possession. There was no reason for Zhao Wanye to hide false intelligence in the safe; by that logic, Zhou Yan was the most suspicious. 0

The day he summoned several Special Forces Operators, their demeanor was nothing like that of Military Intelligence personnel. His vast powers and mysterious ways only deepened Jinyi's suspicions. 0

The next day, Jinyi and Zhou Yan received a new mission—to assassinate the Japanese bomb expert Nakano Ichiro and prevent him from developing new bombs to harm the Chinese people. 0

"According to my investigation, Nakano Ichiro is being hosted by Feng Jinyan. I'll talk to Officer Jiang about this; you shouldn't get involved in this mission," Zhou Yan said. 0

He worried that Jinyi meeting Feng Jinyan would unsettle her, and he feared that Feng Jinyan might disregard their sisterly bond and harm Jinyi instead. He quickly warned her, concern filling his gaze. 0

"No need; I know what I'm doing," Jinyi insisted stubbornly. Deep down, she still held a glimmer of hope that Feng Jinyan might realize her mistakes and stop serving the Japanese. 0

Three days later, Nakano Ichiro secretly arrived in Fengtian. Zhou Yan and Jinyi disguised themselves as vendors in the market, secretly trailing him. 0

As their vehicle reached a hillside, the Nationalist troops hidden nearby began to throw bombs. Half of the Japanese soldiers were killed in the explosion, providing Jinyi and Zhou Yan with an opportunity to capture Nakano Ichiro. 0

"How could it be you?" When Jinyi opened the vehicle carrying Nakano, she was shocked to find Feng Jinyan inside. 0

Feng Jinyan looked smugly at the astonished Jinyi, glancing down at her watch before sneering mockingly, "I anticipated you would try something like this. Now, the real Nakano Ichiro has already arrived at our base." 0

"Got tricked, let's go!" Zhou Yan hurriedly pulled the dazed Jinyi and ran up the hillside. 0

At that moment, a machine gunner was about to fire at Jinyi, but fortunately, Zhou Yan reacted quickly, shielding her tightly in his arms and turning to the side. 0

Jinyi was unharmed, but Zhou Yan was unfortunately hit in the arm and shoulder, letting out a muffled groan from the pain. 0

After finally escaping to a safe area, Zhou Yan leaned against Jinyi's shoulder, breathing heavily. Jinyi looked at him with concern, her heart surging with emotions. This man had once again risked his life to save her. 0

"Zhou Yan, I'm sorry for getting you into this," she said, filled with guilt. 0

Jinyi apologized to him, but he merely shook his head weakly, forcing a signature nonchalant smile onto his pale face. His trembling hand slowly reached out to gently cover her mouth. 0

How could he blame her? Even if it meant sacrificing his life for her, he would do so willingly. 0

Moreover, this was Feng Jinyan's ruthlessness, not Jinyi's fault. 0
