Yu Xue awoke to find herself in a luxurious hospital room. The sharp scent of disinfectant filled the air, and a man was sleeping beside her bed. A sudden jolt of surprise coursed through her, causing her fingers to tremble slightly. 0

The man instantly woke up, and upon seeing Yu Xue awake, he tightly embraced her, tears streaming down his face. "You’re finally awake! When I saw you covered in blood that day, I thought you... were gone..." 0

Yu Xue's pale, cracked lips struggled to form a faint smile as she gently pushed away from his warm embrace. Taking a deep breath, she said, "Fu Nantian, I didn’t die from the miscarriage; you’re going to suffocate me." 0

"Yu Xue!" Fu Nantian pretended to glare at her, but the memory of that day when she lay in a pool of blood haunted him. What if he hadn’t received that mysterious phone call? What if he had arrived just a moment too late? The consequences were unimaginable. 0

"From now on, you’re not allowed to say the word 'die'! You need to live well, do you hear me? I..." He swallowed the rest of his sentence, filled with a desire to protect the woman before him. 0

"Thank you for saving me, Nantian." Yu Xue addressed him with an unprecedented intimacy that warmed Fu Nantian’s heart, nearly prompting him to pull her into his arms again. 0

After waking up, Yu Xue didn’t question how she ended up there or mention the child; she simply curled up with her knees drawn to her chest, staring blankly out the window. 0

Only when Fu Nantian visited did a hint of vitality return to her face. He tactfully refrained from asking what had happened; while he suspected it was connected to Ling Yunran, all he wanted was for her to recover soon—everything else was secondary. 0

One sunny day, Yu Xue sat alone in the hospital garden, leisurely soaking up the sun while munching on sunflower seeds. 0

From her vantage point, she could see directly across to her hospital room window. 0

Suddenly, a face appeared at the window. The person was arguing anxiously with someone behind them while leaning out to search for something. Their gaze unexpectedly met Yu Xue’s before they vanished from sight. 0

Yu Xue grinned. Moments later, Fu Nantian rushed over, panting heavily. "Yuy... Yuy... Yuy..." 0

She shifted aside and gestured for him to sit down and catch his breath first. Without hesitation, Fu Nantian settled beside her and exhaled deeply. "I finally found you! The nurses said they hadn’t seen you; they are so unreliable..." 0

"Are you afraid I might commit suicide?" Yu Xue tilted her head to look at him. 0

"There's... there's nothing to say about killing or not killing... Why is it so hot today?" Fu Nantian fanned himself nervously, his gaze wandering. 0

Yu Xue continued to crack sunflower seeds, seemingly indifferent as she asked, "Nantian, do you have something to tell me?" 0

"Huh?" Fu Nantian was taken aback, as if suddenly remembering something. He slapped his forehead and said, "Oh right, let's go to Japan for a hot spring in a few days. It’s great for the skin!" 0

"And then?" 0

"Then we can go to France for some shopping, enjoy a big meal, and after that head to Las Vegas to gamble for three days and nights, and then..." 0

"Nantian, I’m not going anywhere." Yu Xue continued cracking seeds, her tone calm. "My dad died, didn’t he?" She asked casually, as if speaking of an inconsequential passerby. 0

"Who... who said that?" Fu Nantian stuttered instantly, his reaction undeniably confirming the news. 0

Yu Xue shook the bag of sunflower seeds in her hand; the wrapping was the newspaper from that day. Bold letters read: Yu Group Chairman Yu Zhengtian passed away last night from a sudden myocardial infarction. His second daughter Yu Lingwei has temporarily taken over as chairman, while his eldest daughter Yu Xue remains missing... 0

Fu Nantian cautiously studied Yu Xue's face. Seeing her expression remained calm as water, he finally felt a bit relieved and sighed softly. "Last time your dad fell down the stairs and then they found out about his heart condition. It was Yu Lingwei taking care of him. I really didn’t see her being this 'filial.' Yu Xue, what’s wrong with you?" 0

In an instant, tears streamed down Yu Xue's face, her hands trembling violently as sunflower seeds scattered everywhere. 0

"Yu Xue, don’t scare me. It’s my fault; I shouldn’t have brought this up... Please... say something!" Fu Nantian hurriedly took her hand and placed it in his palm, but her hand continued to shake uncontrollably. 0

"Nantian, do you know... how my child died..." 0

That heart-wrenching pain was etched into her soul for life. The despair, fear, helplessness, and humiliation that grew in the darkness would pull her back into the abyss time and again, no matter how many sleeping pills she swallowed. 0

After waking up, Yu Xue stared blankly at the ceiling, the weight of sorrow pressing heavily on her chest, nearly suffocating her. 0

She slowly got out of bed and opened the door. 0

Ling Yunran was leaning against the wall, smoking, with cigarette butts scattered on the floor. When he saw Yu Xue come out, he hurriedly extinguished his cigarette and turned to leave. 0

“Yunran—” Yu Xue called him softly. 0

Ling Yunran paused for a moment but still kept his back to her. Yu Xue took a step closer, slowly approaching him. She reached out her arms and gently wrapped them around his waist, her voice as faint as a whisper: “Don’t go, stay and keep me company, okay…” 0

Ling Yunran’s breath grew increasingly heavy and rapid, the tension that had been coiled tightly in his mind snapped. He suddenly turned around and fiercely pulled her into his embrace, cupping her face and kissing her urgently and passionately. 0

His kiss was fiery and intense, infused with endless anger and guilt, as if he wanted to pour all his complicated emotions into it. 0

Yu Xue's hands weakly clung to him as they lost themselves in each other, unknowingly moving to the hospital bed. 0

Her clothes slipped off her shoulder, and Ling Yunran lost control, biting down hard on her neck. At that moment, his thoughts were a chaotic mess; if this were a dream, he would rather sleep forever. 0

Yu Xue's breathing gradually quickened as Ling Yunran's hands roamed freely over her body, igniting desire wherever they touched. 0

She arched her back weakly, letting out a soft moan, but a strange smile curled at the corner of her mouth. 0

She took his hand and gently placed it on her lower abdomen, leaning close to his ear and murmuring softly: “Yunran, there was supposed to be a child here… but the child was killed by you.” 0
