Cheng Yifan's life gradually descended into an endless cycle of regret and despair. Every morning when he woke up, he would habitually turn to look at the empty pillow beside him, but Su Ying was long gone. The emptiness and loneliness clung to him like an inescapable shadow, constantly reminding him of his profound solitude. 0

He tried time and again to find any trace of Su Ying, but it was as if she had completely vanished from his world. No matter what means he employed or what clues he sought, the results were always fruitless. Each failure felt like a knife to his heart; the pain of losing someone so important was unbearable. 0

Cheng Yifan's work began to spiral into chaos, as he could no longer focus on his career. Those projects that once filled him with pride now seemed utterly meaningless. Lin Mengyao attempted to comfort him, but every time she drew near, his feelings of aversion and resistance only grew stronger. 0

“Cheng Yifan, what’s wrong with you?” Lin Mengyao finally couldn’t hold back her concern, which felt particularly insincere to Cheng Yifan in that moment. 0

“ Mengyao, I don’t want to hear you talk,” he replied coldly, turning away from her room. He knew that all of this was his own doing, and Lin Mengyao's presence felt like an unhealable wound; seeing her reminded him of the woman who had already left his life. 0

He began drinking alone, trying to numb himself with alcohol, but those painful memories surged back every drunken night, making escape impossible. Su Ying's smile, her tenderness, her endless patience with him—all transformed into blades that cut through his fragile heart. 0

One day, he could no longer resist the urge and picked up his phone to dial Su Ying’s number once more. This time, the call connected. 0

“ Yingying, it’s me, Cheng Yifan.” His voice carried a desperate plea tinged with madness. “Please come back; I beg you to forgive me.” 0

The silence on the other end felt torturous. He could almost sense Su Ying’s hesitation and indifference from afar. 0

“Cheng Yifan, I no longer need you,” she finally said coldly, her voice like a chilling blade piercing through his heart. “Do you think I would return to your side? Do you think I would continue to endure your betrayal and hurt?” 0

“ Yingying, I know I was wrong. I’m willing to make amends if only you would come back,” Cheng Yifan’s voice was filled with pain and regret as he realized he was losing his last chance. 0

“Make amends?” Su Ying’s voice dripped with an unmistakable scorn. “What can you possibly amend? You hurt me; you betrayed me. And now you want to talk about making amends? It’s too late, Cheng Yifan. Everything is too late.” 0

Cheng Yifan felt as if his heart had been brutally pierced, the pain nearly suffocating him. He had never imagined he would find himself in such a situation, being so ruthlessly rejected by a woman he once loved deeply. 0

“ Yingying, please give me a chance. I will prove to you that I truly care about you,” he pleaded, his eyes filled with endless regret. 0

“Cheng Yifan, I no longer need your care,” Su Ying's voice was as cold as ice, as if all feelings had been cast aside. “You are only seeking redemption for yourself, not for me.” 0

A soft sigh came from the other end of the line, followed by the abrupt sound of the call disconnecting. Cheng Yifan stood there, holding his phone, frozen in place as if he had lost all strength. He knew he had forever lost the most important person in his life and could never turn back. 0

From that day on, Cheng Yifan became even more withdrawn. He no longer attempted to contact Su Ying because he understood that everything was over. What he once possessed was now completely lost, and he would forever live in this endless cycle of regret and pain. 0

He quit all his jobs and locked himself away in his empty house, refusing visits from anyone. The success and glory he once enjoyed now felt meaningless; only the love he had lost remained as the sole regret of his life. 0

Lin Mengyao eventually left him too, filled with disappointment and resentment. She knew there was no longer a place for her in Cheng Yifan's heart; only the shadow of that vanished woman lingered in his life. 0

At night, Cheng Yifan sat alone in the empty room, holding a glass of wine that had long since cooled, his eyes devoid of any light. The vacant bed still reminded him that the happiness he once had was now completely gone, and all of it was of his own making. 0

The wind howled outside, bringing with it a chill. Cheng Yifan gazed into the darkness beyond the window, his heart filled with endless despair. He would spend his life trapped in this cycle of regret and pain, unable to escape. 0
