Chapter Seven
Cheng Yifan's world gradually crumbled in regret and despair. The success and glory he once enjoyed had transformed into endless pain within his heart. He had completely lost the meaning of life, drowning in an abyss of remorse and loneliness from which he could not escape.
Days passed, and Cheng Yifan's health deteriorated. He lived day after day in that empty house, refusing to engage with the outside world. His physical condition worsened, and his mental state became increasingly fragile. It seemed his world consisted only of that empty bed and the endless darkness surrounding him.
One day, he received the last letter from Su Ying. There was not a single word of blame; only a calm and composed farewell.
"Cheng Yifan, we once shared beautiful moments, but everything has come to an end. The pain of the past cannot be mended, and I will no longer walk the future path with you. Please take care of yourself and do not chase after what can no longer be salvaged. We both need to let go and seek our own futures."
Every word in the letter felt like a sharp blade, piercing deeply into Cheng Yifan's heart. Su Ying's calmness and determination made him realize that he had completely lost this woman, with no possibility of redemption left.
Holding the letter, he stood by the window for a long time, tears silently streaming down his face. He finally understood that some mistakes are irreparable, and some love, once lost, can never be reclaimed.
That night, he had a dream. In it, Su Ying still appeared as her gentle self, her smile warm and her eyes filled with affection. She softly said to him, "Yifan, I've been waiting for you. Why did it take you so long to understand?"
In the dream, he felt an overwhelming sense of regret and reached out to grasp her hand, but her figure gradually faded from his sight, ultimately disappearing into a blinding light. He jolted awake from the dream, his heart filled with endless pain and despair.
" Yingying..." he murmured to himself, his voice heavy with sorrow, but the room responded only with profound silence. He knew that Su Ying would never return to his side; that dream was merely the last flicker of hope deep within him.
In the end, Cheng Yifan chose to end it all. He left a brief note by his bedside—short yet filled with regret and despair.
"I once had everything but ultimately lost the most important thing. Yingying, I'm sorry; truly sorry. It was my fault."
At the end of the letter, he drew a small heart shape as if bidding one last farewell to Su Ying. Then he took the pills that would end his life and lay quietly on that cold bed, closing his eyes for the final time.
His life quietly came to an end at that moment, leaving only the letter and his cold body in the room. The wind outside continued to howl, carrying away his last breath.
Cheng Yifan's story concluded in regret and despair. He once had everything, but due to his own foolishness and indifference, he ultimately lost it all. Su Ying's love and forgiveness could not reclaim his heart, and he walked toward his fate's end, engulfed in endless remorse.
As for Su Ying, somewhere far away, she may have already found a new life of her own. She was no longer the woman who had been hurt and betrayed; instead, she had become a strong woman ready to start anew and embrace the future.
The love and pain they once shared eventually transformed into mere memories in their respective lives, slowly fading away with the passage of time.
