He was never used to it, always unable to resist the urge to message Rao Jie, wanting to talk and chat with her. At first, he thought he would gradually get accustomed to it, but as time went on, it felt like an addiction; the sense of missing something became increasingly intense, making him uncontrollably want to go back.
The feeling grew stronger, and at the moment he learned about Rao Jie’s actions, he could no longer hold back. Nina came to stop him from leaving, angrily explaining everything. In response, Wu Rong displayed his indifference towards outsiders to the extreme. He watched as Nina, someone he had known for many years, cried in front of him while trying to undress, desperately wanting him and doing everything she could to prevent him from leaving.
It was so humiliating that Wu Rong began to doubt whether the Nina before him was still the proud and aloof Nina he once knew. He looked directly into her eyes and said what others deemed cold-hearted words that, in his view, were sincere. He had no interest in her body; not even a glance was spared before he walked away.
He had never desired anyone until Rao Jie appeared. Now he knew who he wanted.

The two of them slept in late together; Wu Rong was adjusting to the time difference. However, Rao Jie had come down with a fever. After all, she had spent last night in such a cold environment on the sofa until she was sweating and ended up hurting herself. Although she later took a hot shower with Wu Rong's help and applied some medicine, her already weak body still succumbed to illness.
As Wu Rong held her, he gradually felt her rising temperature. When he realized it, he was startled and wanted to take Rao Jie to the hospital, but she stopped him. The fever wasn’t severe enough for a hospital visit; some fever-reducing medicine would suffice. He took leave from work and stayed home with her to rest.
Wu Rong took great care of her, fearing that Rao Jie might get angry and ignore him. However, Rao Jie didn’t seem to hold any grudges against him. As a result, Wu Rong became a bit pushy; once Rao Jie showed slight improvement, he couldn’t help but urge her to withdraw her application.
Rao Jie felt helpless seeing how much he cared. They hadn’t resolved anything from last night’s conversation, so in the end, she compromised. For now… this would have to do.
After recovering from his illness, Rao Jie told Wu Rong about his desire to learn how to make cakes at the Dessert Shop, expressing a wish to try it out before making a decision. After all, doing it professionally and selling it was different from just having fun at home.
Wu Rong assured him that as long as it didn't interfere with their relationship's progress, he would support him wholeheartedly.
Later, Rao Jie inquired about the situation in England. Wu Rong omitted the details regarding Nina, simply stating that he had confessed and been rejected, and that they were now unrelated. As for their teacher, Wu Rong had once suspected that he had been tricked into returning.
Upon his return, he indeed found his teacher gravely ill in bed, but during the time he spent accompanying him, the teacher gradually improved. Throughout this period, the teacher had been trying to persuade him to stay, insisting that he must promise to return; otherwise, he wouldn't rest in peace.
"So, what are your plans?" Wu Rong suddenly asked, leaving Rao Jie uncertain about his future intentions.
Wu Rong kissed Rao Jie gently. "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. Besides the award I received last time, I have another research project I've been working on that's only halfway done. How could I possibly go back to Cambridge? Let's talk about that after I finish this project. But whether I'm here or back there, you have to promise me that you will be with me."
Rao Jie chuckled and asked, "What if I decide to pursue my graduate studies and you finish your project?"
