Long Yang stood outside King Wei's palace, the moonlight filtering through the delicate curtains, casting a faint chill in the air. The floating clouds drifted slowly, appearing and disappearing in the night sky. 0

As Long Yang strolled along the corridor, he suddenly caught sight of a familiar figure in the western courtyard. Upon closer inspection, it was Ruji! 0

The person leading her out of the palace was none other than Wu Guang, Lord Xinling's personal guard, someone Long Yang knew all too well. 0

After a moment's hesitation, Long Yang quietly followed them. He kept a careful distance, afraid of being discovered. 0

When he returned, the vast sky was already tinged with hints of purple and gold as dawn broke. 0

Long Yang stood at the entrance of King Wei's chambers, pondering how to proceed. 0

After a long moment of indecision, he suddenly heard King Wei calling his name from within the hall. Steeling himself and organizing his thoughts, Long Yang hurried inside. 0

"You weren't in the palace last night?" King Wei had just finished washing up, his gaze falling on the faint white frost in Long Yang's hair, and he frowned slightly. 0

He raised his hand and gently pointed at Long Yang's hair, concern and confusion evident in his eyes. 0

"Yes," Long Yang replied with a nod, but internally he was still conflicted, trying to figure out how to delicately convey what he had witnessed last night. 0

He lowered his head slightly, unconsciously rubbing the hem of his garment. 0

Then he heard King Wei's soft voice: "Do you think it's rather dull spending all day with me but are too afraid to say so directly? Is that why you dared to sneak out while I was asleep?" 0

King Wei's tone carried a hint of unnoticeable grievance as he slightly tilted his head, his gaze fixed intently on Long Yang, as if trying to discern something from his face. 0

Long Yang, who had been filled with worries and confusion, suddenly let out a light laugh. "My King, is that a hint of jealousy I detect? Are you suspecting that I’ve been sneaking off to meet a lovely lady?" 0

The corners of Long Yang's mouth lifted slightly, revealing a playful smile, his eyes sparkling with lively light. 0

"Isn't it?" King Wei asked, sitting in his chair and looking up at Long Yang. 0

The soft morning sunlight streamed through the window, casting dappled shadows on Long Yang's face. Beneath the patterned shadows, the delight in Long Yang's eyes shone like dew on flowers, clear and bright. 0

"Well, it could be considered that way!" Long Yang replied with a smile, stepping closer. He gently took the comb from the maid's hands and carefully ran it through King Wei's hair, each stroke infused with a unique tenderness. "Last night during my patrol, I noticed Lady Ruji had left the palace." 0

King Wei watched Long Yang combing his hair in the mirror, curiosity flickering across his face. " Ruji? What was she doing leaving the palace at such an hour?" 0

He slightly turned his face to allow Long Yang better access while keeping a close watch on Long Yang's eyes in the mirror. 0

"She... she went to meet Lord Xinling!" Long Yang noticed King Wei's expression change subtly and paused momentarily with the wooden comb in hand. 0

Taking a deep breath, he continued, "My King, has Ruji ever asked you to avenge her father?" 0

"Indeed. I had already entrusted Lord Xinling with this matter long ago; however, he has been busy with affairs and has yet to make any progress. Why? Is Ruji ’s departure related to this matter?" King Wei furrowed his brows, his expression growing serious as a hint of unease crept into his gaze. 0

"Lord Xinling has already avenged Lady Ruji; it seems only My King remains in the dark." 0

Long Yang lowered his eyebrows, a hint of helplessness in his tone. "Then, My King must not know that the Prime Minister of Zhao has discarded his seal and sought refuge with Lord Xinling, requesting his assistance for Zhao." 0

"What?" King Wei suddenly stood up from his chair, too hastily knocking the wooden comb from Long Yang's hand to the ground. 0

His eyes widened in shock and anger. "Why didn't Zhao come directly to the palace to seek my help? The Tiger Tally is in my possession; what use is it for them to seek Lord Xinling?" 0

As soon as King Wei finished speaking, his expression turned pale. 0

He abruptly swept his sleeve, sending the copper mirror and comb on the table crashing to the floor, shouting angrily, "How can this be! Is this Wei Kingdom truly under my rule or under Lord Xinling's?" 0

"Though the realm belongs to My King, over the years, Lord Xinling has gathered many followers and stabilized the people's hearts. Moreover, My King has favored his confidants. It is only natural for Zhao to seek help from him now. But what does My King plan to do?" 0

Long Yang slightly bent down to pick up the wooden comb from the ground and gently placed it aside. Then he raised his head, looking earnestly at King Wei. 0

"What should I do?" King Wei's gaze unconsciously drifted towards the pillow by the bed. He slowly walked to the bedside, his eyes filled with conflict and struggle. "Even if Lord Xinling has three thousand followers, how can they stand against the mighty Qin army? After all, Zhao and Wei are related by marriage; as the saying goes, when the lips are gone, the teeth are cold. It would be unreasonable for me to stand by and do nothing. But..." 0

King Wei reached the bed and bent down to retrieve the cool-as-jade Tiger Tally from beneath the pillow. 0

He cradled the Tiger Tally in his palm, staring at it as if making a difficult decision. "Long Yang, do you think I should give this Tiger Tally to him?" 0
