I was stunned, trying to ask for more clarity, but the Old Woman seemed too frightened to continue. She just shook her head repeatedly, her eyes filled with terror. Grabbing my arm, she pulled me away from the end of the corridor and quickly turned to ascend the stairs, as if some invisible danger was pursuing her. 0

I stood there, my mind swirling with confusion. I began to realize that the issues within this building were far more complex than I had imagined. Each resident seemed to harbor an unspeakable fear, and this fear appeared to be connected to the darkness at the end of the corridor. 0

Back at home, Lu Fan was busy at his computer. He looked up at me and smiled, saying, "I found some old news about this building; it's quite interesting." 0

"What news?" I walked over and sat beside him. 0

"A few years ago, a series of strange events occurred in this building." Lu Fan pointed to the news article on the screen, which featured a blurry old photograph of the building's exterior. "Several residents went missing, including a middle-aged man named Zhang Wei and a young woman named Liu Fang. In the end, the police couldn't find any leads and had to shelve the cases. There were rumors that all these people mentioned 'the end of the corridor' before they disappeared." 0

Seeing those words "the end of the corridor" in the article sent a chill through me once again. I whispered, "This sounds very similar to what mother Li and the Old Woman said... They all seem terrified of that place and even hesitate to mention it." 0

Lu Fan frowned. "Maybe there's really something wrong there. We could check it out tonight; perhaps we can find some clues." 0

I hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded. "Alright, but we need to be careful." 0

As night fell again, Lu Fan and I prepared some flashlights and basic protective gear, deciding to investigate the end of the corridor. When we stepped out of our apartment, the hallway was eerily silent, with only the dim yellow light casting mottled shadows on the walls. 0

We walked slowly toward the end of the corridor, our footsteps echoing in the empty space. My heart began to race; each step felt like it was landing on my very soul. Finally, we reached the end where an old iron door stood before us, covered in rust and looking as if it hadn't been opened in ages. 0

Lu Fan took out his flashlight and shone it on the door; a faint chill seeped through the crack. I reached out to touch the doorknob but suddenly felt a bone-chilling cold spread from my palm throughout my body. I quickly withdrew my hand, a strong sense of foreboding rising within me. 0

"Maybe we shouldn't have come here," I said softly, unable to hide my fear. 0

Lu Fan shook his head. "Since we're here, we need to figure things out." As he spoke, he reached out and pushed the iron door, which creaked loudly as it slowly swung open. 0

Behind the door was a pitch-black space, and the beam of the flashlight only illuminated a few meters ahead. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. Just then, I suddenly heard a low moan coming from deep within the darkness beyond the door. 0

Lu Fan and I exchanged glances, and we could see the unease in each other's eyes. Yet this unease could not stop us from moving forward. We knew that only by passing through this door could we uncover the secrets hidden within this building, and those secrets were waiting for us in the dark. 0
