"Bring Su Xing out," Shen Jingyu said coldly, his tone commanding.
Mu Beiyao raised an eyebrow. "In this situation, you're the one being unfaithful. The mistress confronting the legitimate wife—why should I help you as a legitimate wife's friend?"
In an instant, Shen Jingyu's aura intensified, and with just a glance, Mu Beiyao nearly snapped to attention. However, she wasn't one to back down easily. Steadying herself, she feigned a weak demeanor and coughed lightly. "What’s in it for me if I help you?"
Su Xing looked at her in shock. "What about your integrity?"
"The next quarter's revenue will multiply tenfold," Shen Jingyu replied, dropping a bombshell.
Mu Beiyao almost couldn't handle it and nearly kicked Su Xing out of the way. But then Su Xing shot her a piercing look, causing Mu Beiyao to blink rapidly and mumble, "Am I the kind of person who would sell out my friend for money?"
Inside, she was screaming: Oh my God, that's one billion! Why shouldn't I sell out my best friend?
She was on the verge of pounding her chest in frustration!
But unexpectedly, Shen Jingyu delivered another epic blow. "Cousin, you can always come to me in the future."
It was clear that when Shen Jingyu used that title, it felt stiff, yet it carried a shocking weight. At least Mu Beiyao felt her defenses crumble; she simply couldn't refuse such an offer.
I have humanity because I have someone of the opposite sex! Cousin has agreed! This is on me! And what about that tenfold increase?
It worked like a charm. Shen Jingyu remained calm and composed. He made a promise without any intention of going back on it.
Perfect!
How simple could it be! Mu Beiyao smiled as she pushed Su Xing out.
In the midst of Su Xing's shocked and furious gaze, Mu Beiyao gave her a shove right into Shen Jingyu's arms.
"No need to thank me; this is what cousins do!" she said with a grin.
Mu Beiyao felt a bit giddy. She knew how tense the relationship between the Mu family and Shen Jingyu was. She had thought she'd never hear him call her 'cousin' in this lifetime, but her best friend had opened her eyes.
It wasn't that she had to acknowledge this cousin with no blood relation; it was just that Su Xing clearly cared about this man. Helping her out wasn’t too difficult.
As a result, Mu Beiyao quickly made her escape under her friend's intense stare.
Afterward, Shen Jingyu seemed to ignore Han Ruoxi entirely as he firmly held onto Su Xing and headed toward the elevator.
No matter how much she shouted, it was all in vain. With tears streaming down her face, all that remained was a deep sense of heartache and resentment.
Han Ruoxi had never considered that the friend or relative beside Shen Jingyu was actually someone close to him. He called her "cousin," yet she had never heard of any relatives related to Shen Jingyu, nor did she know any friends of his besides Luo Hao.
Oh right, she had also met Mu Zhiyuan; perhaps he could be of help to her.
Shen Jingyu left Han Ruoxi in the restroom, but his mind was far from calm. He was preoccupied with thoughts of his good brother, Han Shuo. In fact, he had completely overlooked the fact that he had just forcefully dragged Su Xing back.
Su Xing was startled by the gloomy aura emanating from Shen Jingyu. Why did he suddenly seem so heavy-hearted? Had she inadvertently upset him?
Su Xing couldn't help but recall how he had once been such a pitiful boy. A tragic childhood required a lifetime to heal, and someone like him who had endured such hardships must have been triggered by her earlier words.
Why was she being so indecisive? On one hand, she wanted to cut ties with him completely; on the other hand, she couldn't help but feel a surge of compassion and a desire to protect him.
If this continued, Su Xing felt like she might lose herself.
The elevator doors opened just as they arrived, revealing Shen Jingyu who was looking for someone. His tone was icy: "What are you doing here?"
Luo Hao felt his back tense under Shen Jingyu's piercing gaze. He quickly admitted his fault: "Brother Yu, I'm sorry! I lost track of Miss Han. I just received news that she was here, so I rushed over."
"Bring her out of the women's restroom. If you make such a rookie mistake again, you can go home and dig coal."
Luo Hao almost cried; he was a grown man after all.
Su Xing finally realized that Shen Jingyu's somber demeanor was due to his concern for Han Ruoxi! He was worried about her to the point where he could scold his capable assistant like this, looking as if he had been frightened by something terrible.
Su Xing couldn't help but scoff at herself; her earlier concern for him had indeed been self-indulgent!
Luo Hao initially intended to confront the troublesome Han Ruoxi, but as fate would have it, when Shen Jingyu pulled Su Xing into the elevator and turned back around, he locked eyes with Su Xing.
He blurted out: "Sister-in-law, please keep an eye on Brother Yu! He gives me seven heart attacks a week! At this rate, I won't survive! Where else can he find such a loyal assistant like me?!"
Huh? Are you joking? Su Xing was taken aback by his childlike demeanor.
The elevator doors closed under Shen Jingyu's intense gaze.
The tense atmosphere returned once more.
Shen Jingyu pressed the button for the guest room floor!
Had this guy finally woken up? He couldn't possibly drag her into something like this, could he?
The elevator shot up as fast as time itself. Su Xing's mind was still trying to catch up when the doors opened, and Shen Jingyu pulled her into a room at the end of the corridor.
The heavy door slammed shut behind them, and Su Xing felt dizzy as this man lifted her effortlessly into his arms.
"What are you doing?!" Su Xing exclaimed, her heart racing with anxiety!
She had never experienced anything like this before. Sure, she had lived long enough to know a thing or two, especially with a gold-digging, flirtatious best friend by her side, but that didn't mean she was ready to lose her innocence in such a situation.
Although she wouldn't mind being with him, there were so many issues between them. It was one thing to be infatuated with each other, but for Su Xing, the idea of a spiritual connection was sacred.
Shen Jingyu said nothing, his expression serious. With a burst of energy, he tossed Su Xing onto the large bed and then pounced on top of her.
He leaned down, transferring his entire weight onto her while still propping himself up enough for her to breathe comfortably. But the position was incredibly intimate.
His breath brushed against her nose and lips, even seeming to caress her limbs lightly.
In her mind, he felt so far away, yet right in front of her, he was so close.
"Get off me!"
At this point, how could Su Xing remain calm in the face of such an overwhelming situation?
Her voice trembled along with her body as she tried to push him away.
How could any normal man withstand this?
Shen Jingyu countered her words: "You've already captivated my soul; don't you think I deserve to verify your skills?"
"No! Don't!"
Su Xing's frantic refusal only made her body tremble more as she struggled against his hold.
Suddenly: "Um... don't move..."
The man's voice turned sultry, more enticing than anything she had ever heard in a bar or nightclub. It was exhilarating because Shen Jingyu was fully enveloping Su Xing in every way possible.
Su Xing found herself frozen in place.
At this age, she knew plenty about relationships but had never experienced anything like this firsthand.
