Su Xing stared at Shen Jingyu's face, realizing that this man had somehow started to calculate her future and life.
A knock on the car window interrupted her thoughts. Shen Jingyu glanced outside and then reminded Su Xing, "Shao is here. Let's go meet him."
Since Shi Shao was on Su Xing's side, she got out first to greet him. The man had blue eyes, porcelain-white skin, and wavy golden hair, with round gold-framed glasses hanging around his neck. In Su Xing's eyes, he embodied the image of a nobleman.
As she looked at him, he seemed like a character straight out of a television drama, leaving her momentarily dazed, feeling as if he were too noble to approach. "My lord?" she wondered if that was the proper way to greet him.
However, as Su Xing opened her mouth, Shi Shao simultaneously spoke in perfect Mandarin: "Sister-in-law, I'm Jing Yu's friend, Shi Shao."
They both spoke at once and laughed together. "Please don't be so formal with me! Jing Yu calls me by my name; you can just call me Shi Shao or..."
She hesitated, feeling that calling him by his name might be disrespectful.
"Hahaha! You're much cuter than Jing Yu! When he first met me, he called me 'pretty boy' and 'golden hair'!"
"Ah? How old were you when you met?" Su Xing was curious; could these really be words from Shen Jingyu?
"Eleven years old. You can ask Jing Yu for the specifics; after all, there are some things he shouldn't talk about."
Shen Jingyu walked over and directly picked Su Xing up, saying to
"I'll go get some hot water. You wait here for me."
Shen Jingyu turned around, and Su Xing helplessly stared at his back, thinking that he just wouldn’t tell her where he had been for the past five days, would he?
In reality, Shen Jingyu was genuinely anxious to help Su Xing with her wound, which was why he didn’t pay attention to her other questions. While Shen Jingyu was preparing the hot water, Qin Yi came over with a tray that held medicine and supplies.
"Sister-in-law, where's Brother Yu?" Qin Yi placed the items on the coffee table and then sat down on the single sofa next to Su Xing.
Su Xing still felt a bit awkward. Was he helping me get hot water? Or was it foot-soaking water? She thought that if their friends saw this, they would definitely tease Shen Jingyu. Wasn’t this a typical display of a henpecked man?
Sure enough, when Shen Jingyu brought over the steaming basin for foot soaking, Qin Yi’s jaw nearly dropped in shock.
"The big boss is bringing Sister-in-law foot-soaking water. A man who loves his wife will surely prosper."
"Everything is ready. Brother Yu, you handle it yourself. I'm going to take a shower now. Remember to wrap your wound when you shower, and I’ll come back to help you apply the medicine afterward."
"My wound? Your sister-in-law will apply the medicine!"
"Very understanding," Qin Yi said before slipping away.
This big boss, who commanded thousands of special operations team members and had tens of thousands of subordinates, was meticulously washing his wife's feet. The scene was too beautiful; he felt unworthy to watch!
"I can wash it myself," Su Xing said, her face turning red.
No matter how her feet looked, having a big man handle them so delicately was quite embarrassing. Didn’t she care about her dignity? Especially since her soles were ticklish; if he touched them again, she would burst out laughing!
"No need."
Seeing Shen Jingyu refuse made it seem like he was the one whose feet were being washed.
After that, Su Xing let go of her pride. If he wanted to do it, then let him; who could resist his earnest and caring demeanor? She simply couldn’t get enough of watching him.
However, it seemed that tonight there were a bit too many visitors in Shen Jingyu’s house.
It was one thing for Luo Hao to come over to report some trivial matters. But Nan Gong Ye and Shi Shao actually came together to bring them food!
The gazes of those people made Su Xing feel as if she were being judged. It must be that Qin Yi had also become a blabbermouth, and they all came to witness Shen Jingyu holding a foot.
However, Shen Jingyu handled the situation with great care and seriousness, completely unfazed by the astonished looks from the onlookers. It wasn't until Shen Jingyu finished treating Su Xing's injuries and went to take a shower that the room fell silent.
"Eat first; I'll wash up and then carry you upstairs," Shen Jingyu said.
Su Xing nodded. "When are we going home? My phone is dead, and I want to contact my mom and Mu Beiyao to let them know I'm safe."
"Let's rest for the night. Tomorrow, after I finish my work, I'll arrange for us to go home. Will you accompany me?"
Su Xing readily agreed. If left to her own devices, she probably wouldn't want to go back either.
Shen Jingyu handed her both his phone and Su Xing's. "Yours is probably out of battery; use mine for now. You know the password."
"What do I know?" Su Xing was momentarily taken aback, but Shen Jingyu had already smiled and headed upstairs to shower.
Once she lit up Shen Jingyu's phone screen, Su Xing instinctively entered the password they had both etched in their minds upon seeing a familiar photo. He hadn't forgotten their past; the phone screen displayed a picture of her in a sunflower field. She wondered when he had taken this photo alone.
Regardless, Su Xing felt a warm sensation in her heart. Not only was her phone dead, but she also hadn’t activated international services, so she tried using Shen Jingyu's phone to call her mom first.
Meanwhile, back home, Mu Beiyao had spent an entire day and night flying and was now at the office with a bewildered He Xiaoqing. She directly called Mu Beiming over for an explanation.
As Mu Beiyao coaxed He Xiaoqing to drink some water, she glared at the newly arrived Mu Beiming. "Auntie, this is my younger brother; he’s also Shen Jingyu's friend. Let him explain this situation to us!"
He Xiaoqing was unaware of Shen Jingyu's relationship with them; she only knew Mu Beiyao through Su Xing and had become friends with her. As for their family backgrounds, she hadn’t paid much attention—just looking at them made it clear they were all wealthy.
Mu Beiming felt helpless under his sister's coercion; he was already swamped with work and now faced unexpected trouble from abroad! Shi Shao had used his own connections to send people over without even letting the plane land.
The key issue was that while they had arrived, Su Xing was nowhere to be found. How could he explain that?
Steeling himself against He Xiaoqing's anxious gaze, Mu Beiming forced a smile. "Uh, Auntie, I'm Jing Yu's friend; I've met Sister Su Xing before."
