Su Xing felt her heart nearly explode with anger at Shen Jingyu's smug smile. Sometimes, fate truly is a strange thing.
She was well aware of the little schemes he had been up to over the years; with Su He’s big mouth around, how could she not hear anything? Yet, she never expected that five years later, Jing Yu would still come back, and that her heart would be completely captured by him.
Su Xing thought to herself, "Damn it, that stupid pig Su He must have told her mother that I was out there keeping a man." And now her mother knew everything but didn’t care at all.
Shen Jingyu didn’t find it awkward at all that he had been supported by his future daughter-in-law; instead, he proudly declared, "It was the stars that illuminated my path." But this star was not one from the heavens; it was a treasure belonging to him here on earth.
Su Xing covered her face. "Just shut up!"
Seeing her adorable yet embarrassed expression made his heart flutter. Why couldn’t he remember those childhood memories when she had drooled all over him?
"I’m just bringing up these trivial matters to remind you to be wary of Lawrence. He’s extremely dangerous! This time he has set his sights on A Xing and is making a big fuss about coming to Western Country, which only shows that his influence abroad has matured!"
Shen Jingyu raised an eyebrow silently. His Yue Ge had quite a keen sense of the situation, didn’t he?
"Mom," he continued, "he’s been watching me for over a decade. My career is going smoothly and everyone knows about it. I don’t even know what he has done behind my back. This time, he also said he would come looking for you. Your situation will definitely be more perilous than mine."
This was Su Xing's biggest worry. She had survived this kidnapping incident and had inadvertently encountered this dangerous individual. But He Xiaoqing had been targeted by him for many years.
The grievances between them would eventually need to be resolved openly! If he dared to come to Hua Country, his countdown to death would begin!
He Xiaoqing spoke these words with a fierce expression that sent chills down one’s spine—certainly not something one would expect from a retired person living a leisurely life!
Shen Jingyu felt his brows twitch at her words.
"Aunt He, besides knowing him as Lawrence, do you know any other nicknames he goes by?"
He Xiaoqing shook her head lightly. "His people call him 'Young Master' when they pick him up. Lawrence is what he told me himself, but I later found out that the real Lord Lawrence is a purebred Western Country man. As for how he acquired that name, I suspect it wasn’t through legitimate means."
"Ha! Mom is so wise!" Su Xing added, "He’s already the master now."
He Xiaoqing looked at Su Xing with some nervousness. "He said he has been watching you all along?"
Su Xing nodded helplessly but reassured her, "There's no need to dwell on the past. Just be more cautious in the future. Some people are probably plotting how to deal with him."
Su Xing instinctively glanced at Shen Jingyu, wondering who else could be that 'some person' besides him.
Shen Jingyu calmly picked up his cup of tea and took a sip, then set it down. This girl had managed to guess his identity and specific mission.
He Xiaoqing eyed Shen Jingyu suspiciously.
"A Xing, could you help me wash some fruit? I feel like I need something a bit sweeter," she said.
Su Xing straightened her lips, stood up, and looked at Auntie, who was deliberately pinching her brow. "Do you really need to chase people away with such a lack of finesse?"
Sure enough, after Su Xing entered the kitchen, He Xiaoqing turned to Shen Jingyu.
But they both spoke at the same time.
"Jing Yu, did you participate in any special operations in the military?"
"Auntie, you know my identity and whether he is alive or not."
Su Xing was probably eavesdropping; she washed the fruit unusually quickly and hid by the kitchen door, straining to listen.
However, after a long while, she hadn’t heard a word.
When she came out, Shen Jingyu and He Xiaoqing were staring at each other wide-eyed, as if they had been awkwardly silent while she was gone.
Yet He Xiaoqing understood from Shen Jingyu's silence that he was following the same path as his relative.
Shen Jingyu also sensed a stir in his heart from He Xiaoqing's indifferent gaze.
She actually believed that her relative was still alive, and compared to him, she seemed to have more evidence—that Zhan Ying had pursued him for several years even after the news of his death was announced last year.
So was he still hunting them now?
The impact brought by Lawrence didn’t leave much of a residue for Su Xing.
After all, what she should be more concerned about was how to handle Han Ruoxi, this ticking time bomb.
With her goals thwarted, she would surely have a backup plan; before Lawrence arrived, she was still a troublemaker.
Su Xing showed little interest in what she hadn’t heard later on. He Xiaoqing didn’t want to delve into old matters with Shen Jingyu either; for now, Lawrence’s presence had stirred things up in this household.
However, the next topic was bound to give Su Xing even more headaches.
Before Su He arrived, He Xiaoqing revealed that she wanted to hold a wedding for Su He and Du Meng soon.
Su Xing had initially agreed to help with the arrangements in a calm manner. However, during lunch, Su He suddenly made a request that nearly made her choke with anger!
Today, Su He showcased his culinary skills impressively. For the five-person lunch, he prepared a feast of home-cooked dishes! These weren't just any simple meals; they were complex in preparation, beautifully plated, and rich in meaning.
With Su He's determined demeanor, Su Xing could sense his ulterior motives. Yet, she never expected that her brother's intentions were not aimed at her!
As they sat down to eat, the round table of the Su Family was filled to the brim. Su He had even intentionally seated himself next to Shen Jingyu. He first pretended to help Su Xing calm her nerves, and after a few rounds of drinks, he began to bring up his own marriage prospects.
Su Xing directly stated her position: their family would not shortchange Meng Meng when it came to the bride price; the Du Family could propose any amount, and she would do her utmost to meet it.
At this, Du Meng silently shook her head. She was no longer as generous as when they first met; instead, she looked at Su Xing with a hint of embarrassment.
Su Xing instinctively thought that Du Meng was worried about whether she could afford the bride price, so she boasted for the first time at home: "Meng Meng, there's no need to feel awkward. Since you've chosen Su He and called me Sister, I am willing to support your future together. As long as it doesn't exceed one hundred million, I'm all in."

Su He was shocked; surely his sister wasn't just spouting drunken nonsense? However, Su Xing hadn't drunk much at all, and it was clear she was speaking seriously.
He Xiaoqing wasn't surprised but felt utterly distressed. Her son getting married meant their daughter had to contribute financially.
Shen Jingyu watched Su Xing with interest; the "supportive sister" mode was back online. He knew exactly how much money she had; her accounts had been transparent to him for over a decade, and he had been keeping an eye on her endeavors all these years.
Thanks to her abilities and hard work, she had saved up a hundred million. But that was all she had. She truly was willing to part with it.
It wasn't that Shen Jingyu didn't want this money; he simply thought about how desirable such a sister would be for anyone.
