Shen Jingyu opened his backpack obediently, while Gu Zheng thought he was fully prepared. Instead, the young man handed him a gas mask and a bulletproof vest.
"Don't say I don't respect my elders! These are life-saving items for critical moments!" Shen Jingyu declared confidently.
"Why am I going on a mission with this reckless kid?" Gu Zheng muttered to himself. "Is it the black bear that can shoot, or the snake that has no fangs?"
Shen Jingyu closed the backpack, stood up, and looked at his superior, Aunt's Husband. "If it gets cold tonight, you can find a black bear to cuddle with while you sleep."
"You little rascal, didn’t you bring your grandfather's intel? How did we end up here? This is all useless! And you’ve led us in circles. When will we get to see your father?!"
Shen Jingyu replied confidently, "If you hadn’t come with me, I would have been the only one getting played!"
Gu Zheng took a deep breath. This was his own child! His excellent subordinate! He couldn’t hit him! He couldn’t scold him!
Not far away in the same forest, two people were eavesdropping on the lively conversation. "Your son is such an unfilial child! How did he manage to marry my daughter?" one of them exclaimed.
"Your daughter must be blind," Shen Huai retorted, causing Su Bokan to hop up on one leg in frustration.
"Are you sure they won’t get hurt tonight? You’re playing with your own son; don’t you feel guilty?" Su Bokan couldn’t help but ask.
Shen Huai fell into a long silence.
That night, many people in the village were awakened by cries outside their doors, bringing new vitality and joy to the community.
Zhu Man effortlessly delivered a chubby little boy. As the most cultured healer in the village, he even offered a free naming service.
Once that was done, the first rays of sunlight broke over the horizon. After stepping outside, Zhu Man faced the rising sun in the east and stretched his entire body.
Thinking deeply, Zhu Man turned his eyes towards the path leading up the mountain and walked straight up.
The toxic gas on the mountain wouldn’t last long, but even a small amount could be deadly for those two. He was curious to see how strong a wealthy young master and an exceptionally skilled elder could really be.
However, Zhu Man didn’t expect that when he reached the top of the mountain along the small path, he would find that the straw hut was empty and there were no signs of life around.
After carefully observing his surroundings, he noticed some scattered footprints.

Zhu Man laughed arrogantly. "Whether you can leave here is still uncertain, yet you expect me to help you save someone? You are quite confident!"
"Even if I have to crawl out of here, I have enough strength to reach my destination."
"If you truly have the ability, why not use it to benefit humanity?" Shen Jingyu was actually someone who valued talent greatly. It was he who discovered and developed Qin Yi's innate gifts!
Zhu Man, however, looked down on his invitation. "Hmph! What if I am a monster? I am being hunted down in the outside world and forced into this place!"

I had actually seen them yesterday, hadn’t I? Your obstruction now is meaningless; just tell me your conditions. They are avoiding us, but we can easily search for them one by one. Given your impressive medical skills, you must surely be their benefactor. I am willing to respect your wishes, Shen Jingyu said earnestly.
But Zhu Man immediately sensed a hint of conspiracy: Did you think that by complying with me, you would gain my assistance? How arrogant! It was utterly laughable! From the very beginning, Zhu Man regarded them with disdain.
This feeling was akin to being pricked by sharp thorns from behind; if it weren’t for the fact that she recognized his extraordinary abilities, Shen Jingyu likely wouldn’t have spoken in such a manner.
Those two were indeed saved by me. My grandfather found them on the mountain when they were barely clinging to life. They survived until I was six years old because of my efforts to save them. It’s not that I don’t want to let them go; it’s that they wish to repay their debt of gratitude here!

Shen Jingyu licked his back teeth with his tongue; this little girl was clearly trying to get those two to do the work for her. Despite all the words exchanged yesterday, Shen Huai and Su Bokan still did not come out to meet them.
Shen Jingyu was nearly at his wit's end; he had once been the most patient among all his comrades, but this time, if he hadn’t been impressed by the girl’s exceptional medical skills, he might have chosen to leave long ago.
