The morning sunlight streamed through the gaps in the window, gently bathing the room in a soft golden hue.
Alice, as usual, rose early to prepare for her herb-gathering trip in the forest.
She quietly gathered her tools, careful not to wake Leon, who was still lost in slumber.
Just as she reached the door, a slightly hoarse voice called out from behind her, “Alice, are you going to the forest again?”
Alice turned around to see Leon sitting on the edge of the bed, his eyes still heavy with sleep and his hair tousled, yet his gaze was filled with concern.
She smiled and replied, “Yes, I want to gather some fresh herbs while it’s still morning. You should get some more rest; your injury hasn’t fully healed yet.”
Leon shook his head, stood up, and put on his jacket. “I’ll go with you. I’ve been cooped up in here for too long and could use some fresh air.”
Alice was a bit surprised but nodded at the determination in Leon’s eyes.
The two walked side by side along the path leading to the forest. The morning dew sparkled on the grass blades, and a gentle breeze carried the refreshing scent of foliage.
As they walked, Leon curiously observed everything around him while Alice patiently explained the characteristics and uses of various plants.
“Look, this plant is called Purple Flower Ground Ivy; it has cooling and detoxifying properties and is very helpful for treating certain inflammations,” Alice said as she crouched down to gently touch a small purple flower while explaining to Leon.
Leon also knelt down to take a closer look, his eyes filled with curiosity. He noticed that when Alice spoke about these herbs, there was a unique sparkle in her eyes—a reflection of her love for knowledge and confidence.
In the forest, Alice skillfully gathered herbs while Leon assisted her by handing over baskets and searching for plants.
Occasionally, he would accidentally scratch himself on a branch, and Alice would immediately stop what she was doing to tend to his wounds, her eyes filled with concern.
"Be more careful next time, and try not to get hurt," Alice said softly, a hint of reproach in her tone.
Leon looked at Alice's serious expression, feeling a warm surge in his heart. He gently nodded in response.
Back home, Alice began organizing the herbs, sorting and drying them. Leon quietly watched from the side, sometimes offering to hand her some tools.
During this process, their eyes would occasionally meet, and each time they would share a smile, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
In the afternoon, the sunlight grew warmer. Alice and Leon sat under the large tree in the yard, enjoying a moment of tranquility.
Alice picked up a book and started reading, while Leon leaned against the trunk, quietly watching her. Alice's expression was deeply focused as she read; she would furrow her brow at times and smile at others, completely immersed in the world of the book.
"What are you reading?" Leon couldn't help but ask.
Alice looked up and smiled. "It's a book about history that tells many interesting stories. Would you like to hear some?"
Leon nodded, and Alice began to recount the stories from the book, from ancient civilizations to heroic legends, painting vivid pictures with her words.
Leon listened intently, feeling as if he were transported to that distant world.
During their conversation, Alice would occasionally pause to share her thoughts and feelings with Leon. Leon would also ask questions, leading to lively discussions between the two.
In this process, Leon discovered that Alice was not only kind and brave but also incredibly intelligent and insightful. His feelings for her deepened unknowingly.
In the evening, the setting sun bathed the entire courtyard in a warm orange hue.
Alice and Leon prepared dinner together; although the meal was simple, they enjoyed it thoroughly.
After dinner, they sat at the door, watching the sunset and savoring this peaceful and beautiful moment.
“Alice, thank you for spending such a wonderful day with me,” Leon suddenly said, a hint of shyness in his voice.
Alice turned to look at Leon and smiled, saying, “I’m happy too, Leon. I hope we can do this every day from now on.”
As they spent time together in their daily lives, Alice and Leon's relationship grew increasingly close.
