After a long and arduous journey, Leon finally returned to the capital he had long been away from.
Stepping into the familiar yet strange estate, memories flooded his mind like a tide, but at that moment, he had no time to dwell on them.
Leon’s expression was grim as he hurried through the courtyard, each step heavy and forceful, as if he intended to vent the anger within him through the sound of his footsteps.
Upon entering the Council Hall, the murmurs of the gathered crowd fell silent in an instant, all eyes turning toward Leon.
He scanned the room, his gaze radiating authority and fury, causing everyone present to shudder involuntarily.
“In my absence, how could the family have fallen to this state?” Leon slammed his hand on the table, shouting. The teacups on the table jumped from the impact, spilling tea everywhere.
“Those who have betrayed the family must be severely punished!” His voice echoed in the hall, filled with an undeniable force.
The steward trembled as he stepped forward, his voice tinged with fear. “My lord, ever since your disappearance, internal strife has plagued the family. Some distant relatives have attempted to seize power and have colluded with external forces. It has already—”
“Enough!” Leon interrupted, a fierce glint flashing in his eyes. “I want a list of everyone involved in this betrayal—leave no one out!”
His gaze was piercing as it swept over everyone in attendance, as if he aimed to unearth any hidden enemies lurking in the shadows.
The crowd lowered their heads, too afraid to meet Leon’s eyes. They had never seen him so enraged; at that moment, he resembled an enraged lion ready to pounce on its foes.
Leon paced back and forth in the hall, memories of those who once fought alongside him flashing through his mind—now they had betrayed the family for power and profit.
He recalled his days in Maple Leaf Village, where the warmth and trust from Alice and Oliver stood in stark contrast to the internal strife within his family. This memory only strengthened his resolve to restore order within the family.
"Alex, immediately investigate the whereabouts and influence of those traitors. I want to capture them all in the shortest time possible!" Leon commanded as he turned to Alex.
Alex knelt on one knee and replied solemnly, "Yes, my lord! I will not fail in my mission." With that, he swiftly left the hall.
Leon then looked at the steward. "What is the current state of the family's assets?"
The steward wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said, "My lord, due to the sabotage by the traitors and pressure from external forces, some of our family's businesses are in trouble. Several shops have been forced to close, and our lands have been encroached upon..."
As Leon listened to the steward's report, his brow furrowed deeper. "Immediately send people to reclaim our occupied assets and reorganize the family business. I want those enemies to know that our family is not so easily defeated!" His voice was filled with determination and fighting spirit.
In the following days, Leon devoted himself entirely to restoring order within the family. He summoned core members day and night for meetings to discuss strategies. He personally devised plans, allocated manpower, and overlooked every detail.
"My lord, here is the list of traitors we have compiled," Alex said as he handed a piece of parchment to Leon.
Leon took the list and examined it closely; with each name he read, his gaze grew colder. "Good. According to the plan, we act tonight. Not a single traitor must escape!" His voice was low and resolute, as if declaring the onset of war.
As night fell, the streets of the capital were eerily silent. Leon led an elite force from his family, stealthily advancing toward the traitors' stronghold. Clad in black armor and wielding a longsword, his eyes radiated a chilling intent to kill.
In his heart, there was only one belief: to avenge his family, protect its honor, and return swiftly to Alice and Oliver's side, providing them with a secure future.
When battle commenced, Leon took the lead, charging forward at the forefront.
His swordsmanship was fierce, each strike carrying a deadly force, as if he intended to unleash all the anger within him upon his enemies.
Under his leadership, the family’s troops advanced like a raging tide, swiftly capturing all the traitors.
Looking at the fallen traitors on the ground, Leon felt no joy in his heart.
This was merely the first step towards the family’s revival.
