After the intense conflict with the the Claudie Family, Leon and Theodore had achieved a temporary victory, but they were both physically and mentally exhausted. They took a moment to rest in their makeshift camp as night fell, enveloping the surroundings in silence, broken only by the crackling of the campfire swaying in the cold wind.
Leon leaned against a large tree, watching the dancing flames, his thoughts drifting back to his childhood. It was a time filled with pain and hardship, a memory he could never forget.
As a child, Leon lived in a happy and harmonious family. His father was a respected general in their clan, and his mother was gentle and kind, caring for him deeply. However, a sudden turn of events shattered the tranquility of his life.
When he was ten years old, his family fell victim to a brutal war. The enemy's cavalry surged like a tide, leaving devastation in their wake. Leon witnessed his father fighting valiantly on the battlefield, ultimately falling to the enemy's blade. In that moment, his world seemed to collapse.
His mother fled with young Leon, evading the enemy's pursuit. They wandered from place to place, living in constant fear. Hunger, cold, and terror accompanied them at every turn. One time, after several days without food, Leon felt dizzy from starvation and could barely stand. His mother watched him with deep concern, dragging her weary body through the wilderness in search of something to eat. Finally, she found some wild fruits; Leon devoured them hungrily while she merely watched him with a smile of relief on her face, unwilling to take even a bite for herself.
But fate seemed determined not to spare them. During one escape, they were discovered by the enemy. Surrounded by foes, Leon's mother fought desperately to protect him. He watched helplessly as she was brutally killed before his eyes; at that moment, his heart filled with rage and despair.
After his mother's death, Leon became an orphan. He wandered alone, enduring bullying and humiliation. Once, while begging in a small town, several bullies saw his frail figure and beat him mercilessly, stealing the meager food he had managed to collect. Lying on the ground in pain, he groaned without anyone willing to lend a hand.
These tragic experiences rendered Leon silent and stoic; his character became resilient and stubborn. He vowed to become strong enough to avenge his parents and protect his family's honor. From that day forward, he dedicated himself to mastering swordsmanship and military strategy; no matter how great the difficulties he faced, he never gave up.
Lost in these memories, tears blurred Leon's vision. At that moment, Theodore approached and noticed Leon's distress. Concern filled Theodore's heart. "Leon, what's wrong?" he asked softly.
Leon looked up and wiped away his tears before recounting his tragic childhood to Theodore in detail. After hearing Leon's story, Theodore felt an overwhelming sense of empathy. He grasped Leon's hand tightly and said, "Leon, you've endured so much suffering yet remain so strong; I truly admire you. We will defeat the the Claudie Family together—avenging your parents and fighting for our family."
Looking into Theodore's eyes filled with warmth and support made Leon feel empowered. "Thank you, Theodore. With you by my side, I feel invigorated."
On this quiet night, Leon poured out the most painful memories buried deep within him. Those tragic childhood experiences brought him endless sorrow but also became the driving force propelling him forward.
Only by continuously strengthening oneself can one protect the people around them and prevent tragedies from happening again.
Theodore's companionship and support have also strengthened his resolve to overcome the the Claudie Family.
In the days to come, they will join hands and move forward together, bravely facing all challenges for the glory of their family and in memory of their lost loved ones.
