Xu Shen felt a bit puzzled as he slowly walked into the graveyard. Rows of tombstones were lined up in the cemetery, some overgrown with weeds due to neglect, while others still held fresh bouquets of flowers. 0

The midnight air was cool, and a cold wind whistled into Xu Shen's collar. Although he was not an ordinary human, he still felt a chill run down his spine. 0

Suddenly, with a loud crash, two large hands burst out from the ground just as Xu Shen was surveying the graveyard. The hands reached for him, but fortunately, Xu Shen managed to jump aside just in time to evade the attack. 0

Immediately after, a vengeful spirit leaped out from the earth and lunged towards Xu Shen. The spirit had a green face and sharp fangs, its crimson eyes wide open as it emitted faint yet terrifying sounds of intimidation. 0

"Soul Hook!" 0

Xu Shen sidestepped and summoned the Soul Hook, swinging it towards the vengeful spirit. With a loud clang, he realized that the spirit's body was incredibly hard; even his Soul Hook couldn't pull out the trapped ghost within. 0

"Killing Stick!" 0

Feeling anxious, Xu Shen quickly summoned the Killing Stick. Unlike the Soul Hook, the Killing Stick was typically used to punish disobedient spirits but could also be used to strike down evil spirits and dispel malevolence. 0

With a loud thud, as the vengeful spirit lunged at him again, Xu Shen swung the stick and struck it hard, sending it stumbling back several steps. 0

The newly emerged vengeful spirit surprisingly possessed strength at the One Qi Realm. Xu Shen was slightly taken aback; this indicated that the spirit's resentment ran deep, suggesting there was more to its story. 0

"Come again!" 0

Undeterred by the power of the Killing Stick, the vengeful spirit charged at Xu Shen once more. This time, Xu Shen was smarter; he aimed directly for the spirit's throat with a powerful swing of his stick. 0

The force of the Killing Stick dissipated the spirit's resentment completely. After taking that blow, the vengeful spirit staggered for a moment before collapsing onto the ground. 0

"Finally dealt with!" 0

Xu Shen let out a sigh of relief as he retracted the Killing Stick and summoned the Soul Hook once more. 0

The hook pulled the ghost from the corpse, and a wave of memories flooded Xu Shen's mind. 0

Mao Dayou, a farmer who had come to the city for short-term work, had left behind a wife and mother. However, after arriving in the city, he was led astray by bad friends into gambling, ultimately losing everything and accumulating a massive debt. In the end, he was murdered by his enemies in a desolate area. 0

“Mao Dayou, where is your grave?” Xu Shen asked calmly. 0

The appearance of a vengeful spirit was no trivial matter; Xu Shen needed to investigate thoroughly to provide Mao Dayou with an explanation. 0

“Lord Messenger, my grave is right here!” 0

Mao Dayou pointed to the spot where he had emerged, not far from which stood a gravestone—though it bore no inscription. 0

Wait! 0

Xu Shen suddenly noticed the hole from which Mao Dayou had crawled; there seemed to be something inside it. 0

Reaching down, Xu Shen pulled out a Yellow Talisman. Due to decay, it had lost its effectiveness. 0

The character on the Yellow Talisman... 0

As Xu Shen touched the character, a sharp pain shot through his finger. 0

Using Black Dog Blood to draw talismans had already given it the power of a Second-Grade Yellow Talisman. However, if its purpose was merely to confine Mao Dayou's spirit and prevent him from becoming a Vengeful Spirit seeking revenge, that seemed like overkill. 0

If the Underworld Messenger at that time had failed to take away Mao Dayou's spirit due to the Yellow Talisman, then surely there should have been some other measures taken? 0

Or was it possible... 0
