They had fallen asleep. He would not give her a chance to escape, whispering softly into Lin Menghan's ear.
He gazed at Lin Menghan's rosy lips, swallowing hard; he really wanted to know what it felt like, but he hesitated, only kissing her cheeks and forehead a few times.
Then, Xu Nancheng gently stroked the girl's hair, looking at her with a pure smile. The girl blushed, shyly lowering her head, unable to meet his gaze.
After a while, Xu Nancheng finally spoke, but his hands continued their gentle motions. "Han Bao, do you want to go somewhere fun during the long holiday next month?"
"What? Nancheng wants to go somewhere?" Lin Menghan lifted her head, daring to look at Xu Nancheng.
Xu Nancheng shook his head, feeling a bit embarrassed to speak. "I don’t know; I’ve never traveled anywhere else before. How about going to the beach?"
He felt helpless; he had only gone out for meals a few times with Chen Yi and had no travel experience, unsure of where to take Lin Menghan.
He imagined going to see the sea with Lin Menghan—how romantic that would be! But more importantly, he just wanted to be with her. However, Lin Menghan shook her head, extinguishing the spark of excitement in him.
She thought it was inappropriate. "Are you really that foolish, Nancheng? Sometimes you can be quite smart. Think about it—how much would it cost for us to go to the beach? Who’s going to pay for that?"
Xu Nancheng considered her words and realized she was right. Instantly, he felt embarrassed in front of Lin Menghan and worried about being looked down upon.
Then he gave her a pitiful look. Lin Menghan was about to say something when she noticed his expression and asked, "What’s wrong, Nancheng?" She reached out and gently touched his head.
He felt delighted that Lin Menghan didn’t think poorly of him; it made him feel capable again.
"Then where should we go?" Xu Nancheng asked with a puzzled expression. If they weren’t going there, where else could they go? He didn’t know much and had limited experiences.
"How about we go to Guangcheng District? They have roller coasters, Ferris wheels, bumper cars—sounds like fun!" Lin Menghan suggested after resting her chin on her hand in thought.
Xu Nancheng considered it and replied, "That sounds like a good idea; let’s go."
It was a popular place for people during holidays and wouldn’t cost them much—a treasure trove for them indeed.
"Great! Let’s go there!" Xu Nancheng nodded in agreement; he realized he had never turned down anything Lin Menghan suggested.
"But should we invite Xu Dong and Yi Ge? It’ll be more fun with more people," Xu Nancheng said, even while planning a date; he hadn’t forgotten about his two brothers who would surely be thrilled by the invitation.
Lin Menghan actually wanted to tell him how silly he was—it's a date; why bring two other people along? But then she thought it might not be a bad idea to strengthen their friendship as well.
"Alright! I’ll tell them right now." As Xu Nancheng took out his phone, Lin Menghan stopped him.
"Don’t do that," she said, poking his forehead playfully. "Nancheng, sometimes you can be really silly."
"What do you mean, Han Bao? I just want to inform them." He let Lin Menghan poke him but still didn’t understand why she called him silly for wanting to notify his friends.
"Just think about it. If something happens later, you can just wait until around the tenth to talk about it. If they can come, then great; if not, then it's fine," Lin Menghan patiently explained to him.
Xu Nancheng listened attentively to Lin Menghan's explanation, and finally, he displayed a look of sudden understanding. "Wow! My Han Bao is amazing!" Of course, he genuinely understood and was truly complimenting his Han Bao.
With such sweet words, he loved to hear them! He decided to give Nancheng a little reward. Lin Menghan gently ruffled Xu Nancheng's hair, glanced around to see no one was watching, and then she directly turned into Xu Nancheng's embrace, holding him tightly. Her head rubbed against his chest, producing soft and tender sounds that made Nancheng hum in response.
Rather than a reward, it was more like Lin Menghan simply wanted to act cute.
The sudden change caught Xu Nancheng off guard. He hurriedly wrapped his arms around the girl in his arms and gently asked her, "Lin Menghan, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just wanted a hug."
Feeling the softness of Lin Menghan in his arms melted his heart. He lowered his head slightly and gently patted the girl's back, thinking to himself: This girl has such a cute side; it's simply unfair how adorable she is!
Lin Menghan stayed nestled in his embrace, a slight smile gracing her lips. "Han Bao, alright, it's time for bed." When she heard Xu Nancheng call her name, she slowly revealed her head, smiling sweetly. Her soft voice echoed again, "Nancheng likes you," followed by a playful kiss on Xu Nancheng's cheek.
Just when Xu Nancheng thought she was getting up, Lin Menghan buried her head back into his chest. "No! I want Nancheng to hold me; it feels so nice!"
As a teenager, Xu Nancheng certainly enjoyed having a girl like her in his arms. But he had work to do! He had another long day ahead of him, and he genuinely felt pained by the situation.
He truly felt helpless and could only softly persuade her again. "Alright now, Lin Menghan, you really have to work tomorrow!"
