I concealed my disappointment and placed the candy back into the girl's hand, smiling as I gently patted her head. The girl sweetly thanked me.
Now, the only possibility lay behind the Migrant Worker. But how was I supposed to get past him? I kept glancing at the Migrant Worker, brainstorming ways to maneuver around him. Right, he would get up and drop his phone again. At that moment, I could check what was behind him. That’s the plan.
However, the train was about to arrive at the station. It suddenly dawned on me that while I was busy searching for a bomb, I had forgotten to look for help. Once we arrived, what excuse would I use to get everyone off the train? I couldn't just say, "There’s a bomb on this train; you all need to get off quickly."
First of all, would they even believe me? Even if they did, what about the next train? I couldn’t just make everyone stop riding trains altogether. But what should I do?
Then, I spotted the Metro Safety Officer. As he boarded, I deliberately leaned in closer and gave him a forced smile. "Finally caught up with you, brother." The Metro Safety Officer looked at me with a confused expression.
I suppressed my embarrassment and asked him casually, "If there were a bomb on this train, where do you think it would be placed?"
Hearing this, the Metro Safety Officer's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at me. When he didn’t respond, I decided to change my approach.
I pointed at the Migrant Worker behind him. “Look, he seems so honest; he wouldn’t go around stealing, would he?”
The Metro Safety Officer froze and turned to look at the Migrant Worker. Seizing the opportunity, I pointed at the man with glasses. “You see, his phone was dropped, and the other party didn’t even confront him.”
“And just now, he almost knocked over that woman.”
“Tell me, if there were a bomb here, where do you think he would hide?”
At that moment, the Metro Safety Officer finally snapped back to reality. He lowered his voice and asked me, “You know something?”
I nodded. “Do you have any good ideas?”
The Metro Safety Officer pondered for a moment before suddenly patting my shoulder. “Well, bombs generally fall into two categories.”
“One is a human-carried bomb, which means the person themselves.”
“The other is a Timed Bomb, which could be placed on this train.”
“A Timed Bomb has a relatively small blast radius, but it requires specific triggers to detonate.”
I listened intently and immediately began to ask him several questions for clarification. Seeing his surprised expression, I knew my plan had succeeded.
Next, it was time to find out where this bomb was hidden. The subway was approaching the station, and I couldn’t afford to linger any longer with the still-dazed Metro Safety Officer beside me.
I spoke directly into the intercom.
"Prepare to disembark."
But just like the previous times, the Metro Safety Officer couldn't wake anyone on the train.
He could only push me off.
Then, I watched the Metro Safety Officer continuously banging on the subway doors.
I heard the sound of an explosion and saw the Metro Safety Officer relentlessly striking the train doors.
But why was he doing that?
I didn't understand.
I forced myself to gather my thoughts.
To be honest, I was starting to lose track of whether this was reality or a hallucination.
However, there were still many people waiting for me to save them.
I had to compel myself to calm down.
I began to carefully discern the direction of the explosions.
Seeing the Metro Safety Officer banging on the Train Door after the train had left, I immediately followed him, wanting to hear what he was shouting.
But my strength was waning.
The air in my chest was diminishing, and my head felt heavier by the moment.
In the end, I could only lie flat on the ground, breathing slowly and gently.
Finally, I understood what the Metro Safety Officer meant.
