"Do you even understand the situation?" Li Yingxue shouted. "Our manager is coming here soon, and if he sees this mess, I’ll definitely get fired! Who am I supposed to explain this to? Am I going to tell him there’s an invisible person playing tricks here? Do you really think he would believe that? If that's the case, you might as well just get rid of me now to save me from another round of criticism. I can't stand this kind of mockery!"
As soon as Li Yingxue finished speaking, she heard Xu Shen's response and felt as if she were something invisible to others. Did he not understand? Did he not have even a shred of respect for her?
"You really seem to have some kind of counteractive effect on me. Don't you feel the slightest bit afraid of me? Do you even know what I am in front of you? Can't you show me some respect?"
Listening to Li Yingxue's words, Xu Shen could only shake his head helplessly. He had no idea what she was trying to express. Did she expect him to act like he was scared out of his wits just to earn her respect?
"No, no! Look at how powerful you are; you easily took down that woman who was tied to the wall. How could I not have a sense of awe towards you? It's just that I've been under a lot of pressure lately, which is why I'm here cleaning the restroom. Sigh, I'm just a desperate office worker on the verge of losing my job—there's nothing more terrifying than that!"
Li Yingxue stopped speaking and stood quietly, gazing in Xu Shen's direction. Xu Shen could feel that the cold atmosphere in the room was gradually dissipating. Li Yingxue no longer seemed as frightening as before. He couldn't tell if she was intentionally calming her emotions or if he had simply adapted to this environment like a cockroach. At least now, he didn’t feel as terrified as he had earlier.
"Xu Shen, what are you up to?" The manager's voice echoed again, causing Xu Shen to tense up once more.
Did this guy hear something? How am I supposed to know what I'm doing? It's that thing messing with me!
Knowing that the manager might open the door at any moment, revealing the chaotic scene inside, Xu Shen felt a sense of impending doom. He quickly prepared to clean up the area and turned toward another room, only to suddenly realize that Xiao Li, the security guard who had just been in the restroom, had vanished.
Xu Shen froze in place, his mind blank. What was happening? Wasn't that guy unconscious? Could it be that he was just pretending and slipped out while I was talking with Li Yingxue? That couldn’t be possible! He had been watching the entrance closely; if there had been even a slight chance, he would have escaped long ago. How could he let Xiao Li get away first?
Just then, there was a knock at the door, and Li Yingxue walked in—the same Li Yingxue who flirted with the manager in the office.
"You really are reckless! Didn't you hear Manager Li calling for you?"
