Looking at Li Yingxue in front of him, Xu Shen seemed to ignore her completely. He was still searching for that powerful figure who had just left. What was the relationship between these two? Could it be that one existed in reality while the other lived in a fantasy?
At that moment, Xu Shen continued his search, but after glancing around at the surroundings, he found no trace of the figure. When he realized that the person had completely vanished from this space, he gradually let out a sigh of relief, a mysterious smile creeping onto his lips.
"Have you lost your mind? Did you not hear me talking to you?"
Perhaps it was Xu Shen's current state that made him appear somewhat absent-minded, prompting Li Yingxue, who had been waiting outside, to feel something was off. She slowly approached him and asked.
However, the expression on Li Yingxue's face now was entirely different from that of the person he had encountered earlier. The previous Li Yingxue had exuded a chilling aura, while the one before him now, despite not being particularly friendly, lacked that coldness.
Li Yingxue waved her hand in front of him, seemingly trying to see what he was doing.
"Alright, stop being so down. I know getting punished to clean the restroom would put anyone in a bad mood. But the manager sent me here to check on you. I can talk to him on your behalf when we go back!" she said gently.
"It's not as serious as you think. I'm just a bit shaken up by everything that happened today; it was all too bizarre. I just need some time to process it all," Xu Shen replied. He felt as if he were in a constant state of turmoil, not knowing what unexpected events might follow. What surprised him even more was that Li Yingxue would actually help him complete his task—something he could never have imagined.
"Actually, I wanted to help you out back in the office. But with certain relationships at play, I couldn't say much. Some people just enjoy watching others get scolded; their work is so dull that they thrive on drama. But really, there's no malice intended. Don't dwell on it too much; just relax and focus on your work. As long as you keep a positive attitude, you'll be fine," she continued to comfort him.
Hearing these words left Xu Shen even more astonished. Was this really the Li Yingxue he remembered? She had helped him with his task and even offered words of comfort—something he never thought possible. In his mind, he had always believed that if she were present during his lowest moments, she would only add insult to injury.
"Come on, stop standing there like a fool! Get yourself together; it's almost time to clock out. We can leave together since we live in the same area. I'll talk to the manager about today’s task; I promise they won't give you any more trouble. You can count on me!"
