In order to make Liu Wenxing believe in my change and to reduce his memories of the past, I thought it would be best to replace the previous servants. If he doesn't see them, he will recall those unpleasant memories less often. As for the people in the manor, the simpler, the better; this way, there would be no one to relay messages. If anything came up, he would have to come find me himself. This back-and-forth would naturally bring us closer together. Hehe, I really am quite clever! Hahaha!
I also need to show him more care. I’ve heard that to win a man's heart, one must first win his stomach. Since he isn’t in good health, I’ll cook him some delicious meals and help him regain his strength. What do you think?
"Host, I think that's a great idea! By soothing his emotions and drawing closer together, won’t everything else become easier?"
"Quickly, Host! You should get moving; it’s time to prepare lunch!"
With a light tap on the table, I walked briskly toward the kitchen. "That’s settled then. Xiao Jin, you can step aside; I’m going to make a heartfelt lunch."
Two days passed like this. Now, there was only a young servant left in the manor along with Butler Xu and Aunt Wang. The young servant mostly ran errands. Seeing Liu Wenxing sitting outside in a daze, I walked over slowly; his silhouette appeared soft and elongated under the moonlight.
"What are you doing?" Liu Wenxing's gaze shifted from the stone in his hand to my face.
"Husband, the moonlight is beautiful tonight," I said, my voice tinged with a hint of nervousness.
Liu Wenxing smiled slightly, his eyes softening more than usual as he placed the stone back on the table. "Yes, it is beautiful."
As I looked at his face illuminated by the moonlight, I felt as if I were enchanted. "Husband, there’s something I want to say to you."
Seeing his puzzled yet patiently waiting expression made my voice tremble slightly. "I know that I’ve done many things wrong in the past. I also understand that you don’t like life at Xu Manor. I promise that from now on, I will treat you sincerely and kindly. Can we… can we start over?"
My voice was low as I clenched my hands tightly for encouragement. A complex emotion flickered in Liu Wenxing's eyes; he fell silent for a moment before slowly speaking.
"What does starting over mean?"
"It means that I will respect you, care for you, and no longer let you suffer any harm. If you don't like Xu Manor, we can live here from now on, or find a place you prefer. If you don't like crowds, we can just keep two servants for cleaning."
I looked into his eyes and tugged at his sleeve.
He smiled slightly, a smile like a spring breeze sweeping across the surface of a lake, creating ripples of warmth. "Then let's give it a try."
In the days that followed, our relationship gradually warmed.
I would often seek him out, and I even had a servant buy some flower seedlings. I toiled in the yard, digging in the soil and getting myself covered in mud.
"Host, what are you doing?" The system's puzzled voice echoed in my mind.
"Hey, you wouldn't understand. I'm creating romance," I replied proudly.
After pulling weeds from a patch of land, I wiped the sweat from my brow and continued digging.
"What are you doing?" A voice broke through the air, and I ignored the slight unease it brought, responding impatiently.
"I already told you, I'm creating romance."
"What is romance?"
"It's planting flowers for Liu Wenxing to make him happy. Can't you see I'm busy? What do you want..."
