Everyone turned their gaze to the large screen, which displayed the spacecraft's progress through remote satellite tracking. The ship had arrived at a debris-laden asteroid belt. Fortunately, it skillfully maneuvered around some irregularly floating asteroids thanks to its fuel thrusters. After a challenging journey, a colossal creature made of black gold appeared before the small spacecraft!
This was the very wreckage of the massive starship that had been captured in photographs by satellites not long ago. It looked far larger than anyone had imagined, taking on a rectangular shape. The special metal glimmered dully under the sunlight, yet it could not conceal its enormous and terrifying size or its grand structure.
It stood there silently, like a steel behemoth that had been sleeping since ancient times, cold and lifeless in the vastness of space. One end—whether it was the bow or stern—had been penetrated and sheared off by some unknown force, with shattered objects and fragments floating chaotically around it. It appeared no different from the irregular asteroids surrounding it in the belt.
“Begin approach and search for a landing site!” Upon receiving the command, the Cosmic Capsule started piloting toward the massive starship wreckage.
The Ark Spaceship detached from the landing module and slowly flew toward the enormous ancient starship wreckage, appearing minuscule above its vast structure.
Once the landing module settled smoothly onto the surface, its hatch opened, and four astronauts clad in spacesuits hopped onto the expansive hull in search of an entrance.
“Please note, your oxygen supply will only last for two hours!” A warning from base echoed in the ears of the four astronauts, indicating that they must return to replenish their oxygen supply within that time frame.
Compared to the excitement of the astronauts during their landing, Ground Control could no longer receive video feeds due to satellite malfunctions caused by radiation interference. They prayed that communication with the astronauts would not be interrupted; thus, they were even more anxious than Lu Feifan and his team. The entire communication hall was silent except for the sound of keyboards as they awaited signals from above.
The delay in communication grew longer, causing anxiety to swell among everyone present. The communications officer called out several times without receiving a response. After an agonizing fifteen minutes passed, just as everyone feared they had lost contact, a reply signal came through.
“Report to base: We have successfully entered the interior!”
A collective sigh of relief swept through everyone at Ground Control.
Shortly after, several astonished exclamations from the astronauts filled the channel again.
“Wow, this interior is as big as over ten football fields…”
“What is that? It looks like remnants of some kind of flying ship?”
“It seems like there was a fierce battle inside; strange debris is floating everywhere, and it's hard to distinguish what material it is…”
“Radiation levels are too high; the camera can't capture anything. I wonder how much longer my spacesuit can hold up…”
“There’s a large door over there. Let’s go check it out.”
The people inside the base held their breath upon hearing these words, their hearts racing with fear. Just from those few phrases, one could imagine the shocking sights the astronauts were witnessing.
Meanwhile, far away inside the Ancient spacecraft, Lu Feifan and the others were traversing an absurdly vast hall filled with gaping metal holes, as if a monumental cosmic battle had taken place. They switched on their lights to illuminate the passageway and were met with countless floating debris in zero gravity.
There were metals, peculiar biological entities, and many objects and fragments they had never seen before. The sheer spectacle before them was enough to leave an indelible mark on their lives.
At the end of the hall stood a massive metal gate, towering about thirty meters high, which was opened a fifth of the way. Cautiously, they navigated around the irregularly floating debris to reach the entrance.
“What kind of ship is this? It’s ridiculously enormous…” Liu Boyu, one of the crew members, struggled to articulate his thoughts. He could hardly believe that such an advanced civilization existed in outer space capable of constructing such an astonishingly large flying ship.
“Let’s go inside,” said Huang Zhu, one of the astronauts and the team leader due to his superior education and knowledge.
The four exchanged glances and resolved to enter. However, they failed to notice a sinister monster emblem on the left wall of the gate above them, intermittently flashing lights as if issuing a warning.
Once inside, they found themselves on a broad platform that extended outward. However, it appeared as though it had suffered severe damage; two-thirds of the left side looked as if it had been torn apart by some explosive force. Despite this destruction, it was evident that this was originally a sleek metal platform about twenty to thirty meters wide and one hundred meters long.
Before they could take more than a few steps, they were completely stunned by the sight before them!
The walls of the chamber resembled a vast galaxy filled with stars, appearing endless. This hall was unlike any other; in fact, it was a massive special space where interwoven chains connected numerous rectangular closed metal cabinets suspended in mid-air!
These suspended metal cabinets varied in size—some stretched over ten meters long and one meter wide, while others measured seven or eight meters in length and fifty to eighty centimeters in width. They surveyed the entire space filled with these interlaced metal cabinets hanging from chains.
“What are these suspended closed metal cabinets…?” everyone inhaled deeply within their spacesuits, trying to calm their overwhelming astonishment.
"The end of the platform seems to have an open metal cabinet..." The most composed and tall Ma Hong pointed towards a cabinet at the edge of the platform, its lid slightly ajar.
"Let's go take a look!" Liu Bo and Huang Zhu were the first to bounce over. Ma Hong turned to see Lu Feifan squatting off to the side, seemingly lost in thought, and called out through the communication channel.
"Lu Feifan, we're heading over. Hurry up!" With that, he made his way over.
However, when Lu Feifan stood up, he was holding a peculiar sharp spike that resembled an irregularly grown biological tail or part of a creature's body. Curiously, he asked, "What is this thing?"
The moment he picked up the biological spike, it disintegrated into powder. Watching his companions move ahead, he followed them.
But when he arrived, the other three were already gathered around, completely frozen in shock!
Lu Feifan stepped closer and gasped for air inside his spacesuit.
"My..." He couldn't help but exclaim in astonishment over the communication channel. After a while, a call signal from Earth came through.
"What do you see? Please respond."
