Knock, knock, knock.
The Egg followed Xuan Qing out the door, and Xuan Qing had no choice but to turn back and explain why the Egg was always trailing him: Wine Gourd. He placed Wine Gourd on the table, and the Egg immediately jumped up to the table, nudging Wine Gourd.
"If you want to drink, it's all up to your own ability."
If the Egg could easily drink alcohol, then his Rogue Immortal would truly need to be reincarnated and re-cultivated. Xuan Qing was very confident in his abilities and left home with ease, riding on clouds to the celestial realm to find his junior brother.
Come out, come out, come out...
The Egg nudged Wine Gourd again, hoping that the wine would come flying out quickly. However, Wine Gourd stood steadily after a shake, its gourd mouth pointing high towards the sky without spilling a single drop of wine.
The Egg bounced around the gourd, turning left and right, continuously bumping into Wine Gourd, but it just wouldn’t spray out wine like before.
The Egg was anxious and wanted to know why Wine Gourd wouldn’t release any wine. It tried jumping higher, aiming to land on the gourd's mouth to see what secrets lay inside. Just as it stood on the gourd's mouth, Wine Gourd suddenly tipped over, and the Egg tumbled down, rolling under the table.
The Egg jumped back onto the table; Wine Gourd seemed to stand tall as if competing in height with it. The Egg angrily bumped into Wine Gourd, only to be rebounded back by it. The Egg jumped back a few steps and then suddenly leaped forward fiercely, sending Wine Gourd flying.
The Egg watched as Wine Gourd fell onto the roof, jumping up in delight for a few moments before suddenly remembering that its wine was still inside the gourd's belly. It had no choice but to jump up onto the roof with all its might.
Bang—
Several bamboo poles supporting the thatched roof couldn’t withstand the force of the Egg’s fall, creating a large hole. When the Egg fell down, it didn’t manage to control its strength; the residual force caused the house built of green bamboo to collapse with a loud crash.
Dust rose everywhere as the Egg struggled beneath the rubble but found itself unable to move at all, having no choice but to wait obediently for Xuan Qing to return home and rescue it.
As a Celestial Being, Xuan Qing’s junior brother understood quite well about the Immortal Bird celestial beast, especially regarding incubation times and precautions. However, the more Xuan Qing listened, the more he felt something was off—especially when his junior brother mentioned that one should be cautious of an Immortal Egg having its own consciousness; breaking it could harm its essence and lead to premature death. His own egg clearly bounced back to life no matter how many times it fell.
Xuan Qing nodded pretentiously, never mentioning that he had picked up an indestructible Immortal Egg while drunk; he casually asked a few minor questions which his junior brother answered in detail.
"Junior brother, what kind of egg would an unbreakable Immortal Egg be?"
"To my knowledge, there is no such thing as an unbreakable Immortal Egg." After answering, Xuan Qi couldn’t help but ask, "Senior brother, you don’t just come here for no reason; you must have come because your craving for alcohol kicked in. Why don’t I see your Wine Gourd today?"
Habitually touching his almost always-hanging Wine Gourd, which was now empty, Xuan Qing acted as if nothing had happened and withdrew his hand nonchalantly while saying two words: "Forgot it."
A senior brother who loved good wine would forget to bring his Wine Gourd? Xuan Qi guessed there must be some mystery behind this. With a flick of his hand, a jar of Hundred-Year Celestial Brew appeared out of thin air and was tossed to Xuan Qing. When Xuan Qing uncorked it, a fragrance wafted ten miles away—hardly inferior to last time’s Millennium Celestial Brew.
Unlike before when he would take a sip, this time he resealed it. Knowing his character well, Xuan Qi’s eyes widened in surprise.
"Don’t you think there are particularly many strange happenings this year?"
"Oh? Are there?" Xuan Qing replied with an expression as if he didn’t understand at all.
"A brother who doesn't drink is indeed a strange thing."
"Now there's an additional Drinking Buddy."
"This Drinking Buddy of yours is quite remarkable; he actually managed to get you to leave some wine for him."
Xuan Qi understood, but Xuan Qing's mouth was as tightly shut as a clam. Looking around, he asked, "Where's your Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer?"
"I've already said it a hundred and eight times; it's the Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer. It's a descendant of God of Longevity's steed, not an ordinary Seven-Colored Spiritual Deer," Xuan Qi corrected him, feeling quite frustrated.
"Oh, so it's the Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer," Xuan Qing said, nodding in realization. He looked up at the sky and added, "I've been out for quite a while; I need to head back. I'll take this jar of wine with me."
"The sooner you leave, the better. When have you ever come without taking a few jars of wine? I'm already grateful that you didn't take more this time," Xuan Qi urged him to leave without any politeness.
"I'll bring a friend for you to meet next time."
"A friend? That's quite rare."
"Not any worse than your Seven-Colored Spiritual Deer!"
"It's the Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer!"
Xuan Qing leaped into the clouds, laughing heartily as he flew away.
