Having traveled so far, Little Sweetie still hadn’t come to chase after it. It must find a new master to infuriate Xuan Qing. The egg pushed the wine jar along, looking quite irritable all the way.
At that moment, it spotted a purple cloud drifting by. The immortal atop the cloud radiated an enchanting aura, seemingly a suitable new master.
The egg dropped the wine jar and quickly flew up to appear before the immortal.
The immortal was taken aback, pausing to gaze at this egg that should have been hatching in its nest.
Suspended in mid-air, the egg spun around, did a somersault, and rolled about, performing all sorts of adorable antics to entice the immortal into taking it home.
"Where are your parents?" the immortal asked softly.
The egg shook its body, indicating that it didn’t know.
"Since you have no parents, come with me and cultivate," the immortal suggested.
However, upon achieving its goal, the egg hesitated. Looking back, it still saw no sign of Xuan Qing. Disappointed, it hopped onto the immortal’s shoulder but didn’t act spoiled like before; instead, it lay down dejectedly.
Just as the immortal was about to take off, a voice suddenly called out, "You there! Stop! Put down my egg!"
Turning around, a Rogue Immortal riding a cloud dashed in like lightning and snatched the egg back in an instant. It was none other than Xuan Qing.
"Little Sweetie, how could you just go off with a stranger? If you’re leaving, you should come with me!"
Upon hearing this, the egg immediately recalled that Xuan Qing hadn’t chased after it and turned to leap back onto the immortal’s shoulder. Xuan Qing quickly caught it and softened his tone, "Didn’t I come after you? If you want to throw a tantrum, let’s do it at home; don’t involve innocent people."
The egg pretended to struggle for a moment but reluctantly stayed in Xuan Qing’s hand. He placed it on his shoulder and apologized to the immortal with a bow, "My friend, I was too hasty just now; please forgive me."
"Now that your conflict is resolved, I can rest easy. Farewell," the immortal said with a smile and nodded before riding away on the Azure Purple Cloud.
At this moment, Xuan Qing’s smile faded as he felt relieved. "I’m glad I arrived in time; if you had been taken by him, I might have truly lost you."
He affectionately stroked the egg, which nestled into his hand comfortably, enjoying Xuan Qing’s affection.
The Azure Purple Cloud descended upon the Heavenly Prison that had imprisoned immortals throughout history. The immortal walked deep into the forbidden area of the Heavenly Prison where a translucent white stone pillar stood tall like Tian Yi; this pillar was known as the Pillar Supporting the Sky.
"Ao Fang," he called out softly.
In the dead silence of the Heavenly Prison, there was no response. He attempted to step forward but was halted by ice spikes suddenly emerging from the ground. Resignedly he said, "It has been thousands of years; why do you always keep me at bay?"
Still met with silence, he could only see chains forged from Eternal Cold Iron winding through flesh and bone as they dripped blood that stained the stone pillar red—a chilling sound echoing with each drop that stirred an unbearable pain in his heart.
"Get lost!" A low voice laced with hoarseness spat out a cold word.
"I will come again tomorrow." The immortal sighed and departed.
As dusk fell, the setting sun painted the sky above the Heavenly Prison with a crimson hue, casting a somber atmosphere that accentuated the desolation. The isolated Pillar Supporting the Sky stood there, day after day, night after night, stained with blood, with no end in sight.
The Egg approached the Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer, which slowly backed away, unsure of what the Egg intended to do. The Egg examined the Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer closely from top to bottom and left to right—its long antlers, its twitching ears, its round eyes, and its beautiful fur adorned with seven-colored plum blossoms.
Xuan Qing wanted them to get along well, but if the deer appeared cuter and more beautiful than the Egg after its birth, it would be the deer that received all the affection in the future. This was a formidable rival.
Feeling a strong sense of crisis, the Egg hurriedly jumped toward the back of the house, where not far away lay a medicinal garden cultivated by Xuan Qing, filled with various celestial herbs.
Sensing that the Egg was not an ordinary Immortal Egg, the Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer relaxed slightly. However, when it saw the Egg pushing back a glowing red herb, it immediately tensed up again. That seemed to be an Immortal Ganoderma transplanted from the celestial realm by Xuan Qing; little one, you can't eat that! The Old Sophora Tree quickly waved its branches, and the Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer felt its words resonate in its mind, hastily shaking its head in refusal.
The Egg returned the Immortal Ganoderma to the medicinal garden and went back inside to bring out its most treasured Celestial Brew. It jumped onto the jar's rim and broke the seal before offering it to the Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer for a taste.
The aroma of the wine wafted through the air. Unable to resist, the Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer leaned forward for a sip, licked its lips, and began to drink eagerly.
Having often seen Xuan Qing indulging in wine, the Old Sophora Tree had always been curious about its wonders. It extended an old root into the jar of wine; a fiery and exhilarating sensation surged through its body as if it were floating in the sky... Boom! The Old Sophora Tree was uprooted and fell to the ground inebriated, while the Egg was caught beneath it and struggled helplessly.
The Seven-Colored Plum Blossom Divine Deer swayed unsteadily on its legs before collapsing drunkenly.
The Egg felt frustrated while waiting for Xuan Qing to rescue it.
The commotion roused Xuan Qing from his seat; he crouched down and looked at the Egg with amusement. "Not bad for your Drinking Etiquette; only you get drunk and start bouncing around, making it impossible for me to find peace." The Dusting Whisk gleefully tapped him before effortlessly brushing aside the Old Sophora Tree.
The Egg jumped onto Dusting Whisk's back and rolled around playfully, refusing to take responsibility for what had happened.
"Back into your cage." Xuan Qing tossed aside Dusting Whisk, causing the Egg to tumble onto the ground and roll behind a table leg to hide, unwilling to return to its bamboo cage.
