As Li Yingxue woke up, she suddenly realized that it was she who had pulled herself up. This unexpected turn of events surprised her greatly, as she had never anticipated finding herself in such a situation. However, the fact that a boy from her family had come to her rescue filled her heart with joy, akin to that of an 18-year-old girl experiencing an exhilarating moment. Yet, she knew she couldn't show it; after all, she was now an adult. If she acted too deliberately, it would surely invite ridicule.
Especially in front of this boy, if she displayed any signs of immaturity, he would likely mock her. Their past together had been so beautiful, and even though they had parted ways, she wanted to maintain a positive outlook on life. She wished to convey that her life was still wonderful without him.
Perhaps every girl should feel this way, preserving her last shred of dignity. Although she felt a rush of excitement inside, she didn't want to lose her final bit of pride in front of him. If that happened, she'd feel like a pitiful person. Despite caring deeply for him, she wanted to leave him with a good impression.
So even though her heart raced with excitement, she managed to express her gratitude verbally. She had never expected him to come to her aid. However, when he immediately released his grip, a flicker of anger ignited within her. Just as she was regaining her balance, he let go of her hand. Thankfully, her reflexes were quick; otherwise, she might have fallen again—this time with even greater force.
Yet, she was still grateful for his timely intervention. Perhaps she had overthought things and overlooked the fact that they were no longer close enough to warrant such physical contact.
Xu Shen's sudden release startled Li Yingxue, nearly causing her to topple over once more. Given her personality, if this scene had unfolded in any other context, she would have certainly spoken harshly in response. But just as she prepared to voice her thoughts, she noticed someone watching from the corner—a girl who seemed out of place. Initially believing they were alone in the room, Li Yingxue was taken aback by the girl's presence and the peculiar expression on her face. It appeared that the earlier incident had left the girl feeling awkward and unsure whether to stay or leave.
Caught in the act of hesitating, the girl quickly sought an excuse to explain herself. "I'm sorry for interrupting you two," she began nervously. "But I must inform you that most people in your room have already left. We would like to know your opinion on whether you wish to leave as well. If you do decide to go, we have a lovely gift prepared for you since everyone here has one. If you don't mind, I can prepare it for you right away. I truly apologize for disturbing you both."
