Ye Ya found herself inexplicably embraced by him. She tried to push him away, but the man only tightened his hold. Taking a deep breath to suppress her anger, she said, “Lu Tianyang, what do you want? Don’t push your luck.”
Some people are like that; they take advantage of your patience and become more demanding. This was exactly the kind of man Lu Tianyang was.
“Xiao Ya, don’t say anything. Just let me hold you for a moment, just a moment,” Lu Tianyang insisted, ignoring her anger. He simply wanted to hold her. She knew that today, facing her father’s hospitalization, his desire to marry her remained unwavering. He genuinely wanted to be with her, especially since they had a beautiful daughter together.
His voice sounded somewhat weak, completely unlike the domineering and shameless man she usually knew. Ye Ya lowered her raised hand and couldn’t help but ask, “Lu Tianyang, what happened?”
Ye Ya was not foolish; the only thing that could put him in such a difficult position was whether or not she would marry into the Lu family. Of course, she did not wish to marry into that family, and naturally, the Lu family did not want her either. But was this man still holding on to that hope? That surprised Ye Ya.
“I got Dad so angry he ended up in the hospital today.” After saying this, Lu Tianyang released her and held her shoulders, his eyes fixed on hers.
Ye Ya understood immediately. She looked up and met his gaze. Although he appeared fierce, at that moment he was just an ordinary man—nothing to be afraid of.
“Is it because of me? I’m sorry for causing trouble for your family. I’ll go back with Chen Chen tomorrow. Don’t worry; I promise I won’t use the child to threaten your family or claim any of your inheritance,” Ye Ya spoke sincerely because that was genuinely how she felt.
“Ye Ya, do you really hate me that much? Do you know Dad pressured me to break up with you in the hospital today? Although I agreed verbally, my determination to marry you has never wavered. Are you really that heartless? Do you want Chen Chen to live her life labeled as an illegitimate child like you?” Lu Tianyang was furious. “Xiao Ya, when I came in, I noticed—shouldn’t we get a bigger unit? There’s hardly any space for anything.”
He wouldn’t understand that this apartment was something Ye Ya had bought entirely on her own merit. For her, it felt like home.
“If you want to move, then go ahead; it has nothing to do with me. I’m staying here,” Ye Ya replied while nursing the baby. The adjacent room was just right for Guo Ma, and Ye Ya felt this place was already her paradise.
“Guo Ma, I’m sorry for putting you in this situation; my home is like this,” Ye Ya felt a bit guilty toward Guo Ma since her room was larger when they stayed at Yiju Mountain Villa.
“Lady, don’t say that; as long as Guo Ma has a place to stay,” Guo Ma said while looking at Ye Ya without the usual attitude of a young lady.
Ye Ya still felt frustrated by the title “Lady.” No matter how many times she had asked Guo Ma not to call her that, she persisted.
“Xiao Ya, should we get a new bed? This one is a bit small,” Lu Tianyang observed that the bed was only 1.5 meters wide and thought it was indeed too small for him.
“Lu Tianyang, please get it straight—whose house is this?” She snapped back at him as he pointed around upon entering without being invited. Besides, what did it matter how big the bed was? Was he expecting to sleep here in some grand fantasy?
Lu Tianyang wisely chose to keep quiet at that moment, thinking it best not to provoke this woman since this was now her territory.
In the afternoon, Lu Tianyang helped Ye Ya move her things before heading off to the company himself.
Ye Ya had not visited Moya Fashion Store for quite some time. The store had been bustling with Tao Momo's efforts, and Ye Ya felt a bit embarrassed about it. So, that evening, she decided to invite Tao Momo over for dinner.
For Miss Tao, who had a super chef for a mother, her culinary standards were exceptionally high.
However, for Tao Momo, seeing Godmother was more important than having dinner. Yiju Mountain Villa was far from the bustling city center, and with Tao Momo managing the store's business, she was stretched thin. Now that she had moved back, it would be much more convenient to look after Chen Chen.
"Mo Mo, how's business at the store lately? You've really been working hard," Ye Ya said.
"Pfft, what are you talking about? Two similar stores have opened on our street recently. More and more people are trying to imitate us; it's infuriating!" Tao Momo exclaimed, clearly frustrated. Those people were blatantly stealing her ideas.
As a designer with a sense of style, the thought of others mimicking her designs made Tao Momo feel that it was a disgraceful act.
"Business is good; when others see us making money, they will inevitably feel envious. Don't worry, Mo Mo. I want Moya Fashion Store to always be imitated but never surpassed. Once the kids are a bit older, we can join forces," Ye Ya reassured her. She understood that imitation meant their ideas were valid, and she planned to open several more stores and register Moya Fashion as a brand. When a product has brand recognition, mere imitation isn't enough.
"Our business is doing well; there's nothing to worry about. Right now, our Chen Chen is the most important," the two chatted as Guo Ma was busy in the kitchen.
The Young Mistress was down-to-earth and never put on airs. Today, she had specifically instructed that important guests were coming over, so they needed to be well taken care of.
As dinner preparations neared completion, Ye Ya went into the kitchen to help but was promptly shooed out by Guo Ma, who insisted she should spend time with her friend.
Ye Ya smiled helplessly and exited the kitchen. Just then, the door chimed as Lu Tianyang walked in with his briefcase, startling Ye Ya.
This place wasn't like the villa; it wasn't spacious enough for him to go unnoticed upon entering.
"What are you doing here?" Ye Ya instinctively asked.
"Why can't I come? I'm here to see my daughter. I returned just in time; Guo Ma has already prepared dinner," Lu Tianyang said as he approached to check on his daughter and noticed Tao Momo was also present. "Miss Tao, you're here to see Chen Chen too?"
"What's this? Am I not welcome?" Tao Momo looked at him, unsure how to respond. Xiao Ya seemed rather indifferent toward him.
"Of course you're welcome," he replied as if he were the master of the house. Ye Ya silently scoffed at his presumptuousness.
After dinner, Tao Momo took the hint and left. However, Ye Ya noticed that Lu Tianyang showed no signs of leaving either. She crossed her arms with an ominous feeling creeping in. "Lu Tianyang, aren't you going to leave?"
Lu Tianyang picked up the recently awakened Chen Chen and lifted her slightly in his hands, startling Ye Ya, who hurried over. "Be careful, don't drop Chen Chen!"
"Of course not! Look how happy Chen Chen is to see Daddy," Lu Tianyang said as he settled onto the sofa with his daughter. After a long day at work, he found joy in playing with his precious little girl, discovering a kind of happiness he had never experienced before.
Recently, even Qi Fan felt that Lu Tianyang had changed; no matter how hard he tried to make plans with him at night, he could never succeed.
Qi Fan looked down on him. Although he knew Lu Tianyang had a daughter now, he still couldn't imagine him as a doting father. He thought Lu Tianyang had completely fallen under Ye Ya's spell.
Thinking it over, he wondered if he could be considered the matchmaker between them.
"Lu Tianyang, when are you leaving?" Ye Ya asked impatiently, her irritation evident as she looked at him.
Lu Tianyang turned his head, looking at her in confusion. "Xiao Ya, when you agreed to move back in, you promised I could see my daughter anytime. One should be trustworthy."
Trustworthy my foot! Ye Ya was furious; did this man have no shame?
"You've already seen her! Just give her back to me and leave!"
