Ye Ya truly couldn't understand how such trivial matters could spark such enthusiasm. Lu Tianyang, the dignified president of Lu Group, had his time measured in minutes. 0

Unable to hold back, Ye Ya asked, "Lu Tianyang, don’t you think it’s a waste of time to chat about all this meaningless nonsense?" 0

The woman was growing impatient. Lu Da Shao Ye tapped his fingers rhythmically on the balcony railing. "Not at all. I just want to hear you talk." 0

After he said that, Ye Ya found herself at a loss for words. She couldn't possibly stoop to compete in shamelessness with this man. 0

"I think I’ll go to sleep now." Ye Ya gazed at the crescent moon hanging in the sky, her inner restlessness refusing to dissipate. 0

Lu Tianyang glanced at the time. Chen Chen was still young and woke up two or three times every night; it truly was hard on her. Ye Ya was always reluctant to leave Chen Chen with anyone else, and Lu Tianyang wanted to help but felt powerless. Moreover, this woman was asking for space, leaving him with no way to approach her. 0

If she were in the Lu Family, with a multitude of maids and servants at home, she wouldn’t have to struggle so much. 0

"I'm really tired." 0

"Yeah, I want to sleep." Ye Ya was scared; this man was too intimidating. She feared that she wouldn’t be able to control her own heart. 0

In love, it often turned out that whoever took things seriously first ended up suffering more. Besides, this feeling was mixed with so many elements—could it still be pure love? And whether this man cared for her because of the child or because he loved her, she didn’t know. 0

She thought she could only leave everything to time and let it decide; perhaps time would provide her with answers. 0

"Alright then, goodnight." Lu Tianyang had no choice but to hang up the phone. This woman still couldn’t trust him, but that was okay; he believed that one day she would learn to trust him completely. 0

This afternoon, Ye Ya had taken some time to visit a clothing store. Business there was finally on track; many customers returned, and word had spread about the place. Many people took pride in wearing Moya Fashion. This was something that made Tao Momo the happiest. 0

Seeing all this, Ye Ya rested her chin on her hand, brainstorming new selling points for the upcoming season. Once the child grew a bit older, it would be easier to manage things. 0

Looking at Chen Chen, Ye Ya felt that all her struggles were worth it. For her precious daughter, she had to keep pushing forward. 0

From a young age, Ye Ya had grown accustomed to relying on herself for everything, believing that true security came from within. 0

For several consecutive days, every time Chen Chen fell asleep, Ye Ya would hand her over to Guo Ma for care and then head to the shop to help out. Lu Tianyang kept his promise and called every day. 0

Ye Ya never asked about his family's opinions; she could guess them without needing to inquire. She also didn't want certain things to come from Lu Tianyang's mouth, so she simply chose not to ask. 0

In the middle of the night, Chen Chen suddenly began to cry. Ye Ya immediately woke up and picked her up. Instinctively, she touched the child's forehead and was startled to find that the little one had developed a fever. 0

Damn it, she thought, wondering if her focus on work these past few days had led her to neglect Chen Chen's care. 0

The fever had Ye Ya in a panic; after all, Chen Chen was only a little over a month old, and a fever could be serious. Ye Ya quickly changed her clothes and called out for Guo Ma. 0

At that hour, it wasn't easy to get a taxi. Ye Ya waited on the street with the child for quite some time but couldn’t hail one. 0

“Lady, why not call Young Master?” Guo Ma suggested anxiously. 0

“Okay, I’ll call him,” Ye Ya replied, nearly dropping her phone in her haste. Guo Ma watched nervously from the side. 0

The phone rang, and Lu Tianyang immediately got out of bed. He had set a special ringtone for Ye Ya; only her calls would sound like this. If she was calling at this hour, something must be wrong. 0

As he answered the phone, he heard Ye Ya’s voice, filled with urgency and near tears. While rummaging through his wardrobe for his phone, he calmly asked, “Xiao Ya, don’t panic. Take your time and tell me what happened. I’ll be there right away.” 0

“Lu Tianyang, Chen Chen has a high fever! I can’t get a taxi! Is something going to happen to her?” In the dead of night, two women waited by the roadside with a crying child in their arms as cars failed to appear. 0

“Don’t worry; I’ll be there soon. Chen Chen will be fine,” Lu Tianyang said, his brow furrowing as he rushed to the garage and jumped into his car. 0

With few vehicles on the road at that hour, Lu Tianyang sped through red lights. After about ten minutes, he spotted Ye Ya holding the child by the roadside. Upon seeing him, Ye Ya looked as if she had found a savior. 0

“Lu Tianyang, Chen Chen has a fever.” 0

Lu Tianyang walked over and touched the child's forehead; it was indeed warm. He opened the car door. “Xiao Ya, it's alright. It's normal for children to have fevers, so don't worry. Guo Ma, you don't need to go. The child will likely need to stay in the hospital for observation. Why don't you make something delicious and bring it to the hospital tomorrow morning?” 0

Guo Ma was getting on in years, and Lu Tianyang thought it unnecessary for everyone to be troubled. 0

“Alright, young master, Lady, please be careful.” 0

Inside the car, Ye Ya held the child tightly, trying hard to calm herself down, but she still felt frantic and helpless. “Chen Chen, my dear baby, be strong. Mommy will take you to the hospital right now.” 0

During her pregnancy, she had read many parenting books, but hearing her child cry out in pain made Ye Ya feel utterly lost about what to do. 0

The child was taken to the emergency room. In the quiet of the night, Ye Ya could only wait anxiously outside. She felt a pang of guilt; over the past few days, she had been spending time at the shop. Was it because she hadn’t taken care of Chen Chen that her baby fell ill? She felt like a negligent mother. 0

Lu Tianyang watched Ye Ya pacing back and forth outside the door, talking to herself in distress. Unable to bear it any longer, he walked over and gently placed his hand on her shoulder. “Xiao Ya, calm down. It's normal for children to get sick and have fevers. Don’t worry so much, okay?” 0

“No, Lu Tianyang. It’s my fault for not taking care of Chen Chen properly. I’ve been busy with other things these past few days and haven’t spent enough time with her. It’s all my fault,” Ye Ya lamented. Chen Chen was her lifeline; seeing her child in such distress left her feeling powerless. 0

Seeing her so full of self-reproach made Lu Tianyang realize he also bore some responsibility. He pulled the frantic Ye Ya into his arms. “Don’t worry; I promise Chen Chen will be fine. Don’t be afraid.” 0

“Lu Tianyang, am I a bad mother?” Ye Ya asked. 0

Her words left Lu Tianyang feeling ashamed. He couldn’t help but let out a soft sigh. “Xiao Ya, if you say that, then I must not be worthy of being Chen Chen's father either. It’s going to be alright; Chen Chen will be fine.” 0

In Lu Tianyang's embrace, Ye Ya gradually calmed down. She sniffled and pulled away from him. “Lu Tianyang, thank you for coming here in the middle of the night.” 0

“Ye Ya, I'm just glad you thought of me when something happened to Chen Chen. What are you thanking me for? I'm Chen Chen's father; it's only natural,” Lu Tianyang replied, feeling exasperated by her gratitude—didn’t he have a stake in this too? 0

Ye Ya looked at him, wanting to say something but unsure of what would be appropriate. 0

Lu Tianyang pulled her over and pressed her down onto the chair. "Don't say such silly things in the future." 0

Ye Ya looked at his hand, which was still holding onto her. His palm was broad enough to almost envelop her hand entirely. She thought that if it were just the three of them living together, perhaps they would be very happy. 0

But she knew all too well that reality was different. Being with Lu Tianyang meant facing too many challenges. With such a large family and so many eyes watching her, she understood that everything would be incredibly difficult. 0

After more than half an hour, the doctor came out. Ye Ya nervously walked to the front. "Doctor, is Chen Chen okay?" 0

"Don't worry too much. It's common for children to have fevers, but since he is still young and has low immunity, he needs proper care. He will need to stay in the hospital for observation tonight. Once his fever subsides, he can be discharged." 0

"Thank you, Doctor." Deep down, she knew that every child could get a fever, and even adults could fall ill at times. But when a child was unwell, her heart raced with anxiety. 0

Lu Tianyang wrapped his arm around her shoulders and gently said, "Don't worry, Chen Chen will be fine." 0

Then, Lu Tianyang arranged for the best VIP room for them. Seeing the little one with tears still in his eyes broke both of their hearts. 0

Ye Ya couldn't sleep while Chen Chen was restless; she stayed by his side to comfort him. Naturally, Lu Tianyang remained there with them as well. 0

"Lu Tianyang, why don't you go rest over there for a bit? You have work tomorrow." 0

"Xiao Ya, I'm fine. You should get some sleep; I'll keep an eye on the child." He was a man; missing a night’s sleep wouldn’t affect him much. But she was different; it wasn't good for women to stay up late. 0

Ye Ya shook her head and said nothing more. With the child still having a fever, how could she possibly sleep? 0

They sat beside each other, with Lu Tianyang letting her lean against him until it was nearly dawn. Without realizing it, Ye Ya fell asleep in Lu Tianyang's embrace. 0

Lu Tianyang looked at the two of them and couldn't help but smile. Sometimes life truly is full of poignant moments. 0

He shifted slightly to make Ye Ya more comfortable while keeping an eye on Chen Chen. The sun had risen, and thankfully, the little one’s fever had finally subsided. 0

Ye Ya rubbed her shoulders and realized she was being held by Lu Tianyang. She quickly sat up. 0

“Chen Chen’s fever is gone, so don’t worry,” Lu Tianyang said. He had held Ye Ya all night without moving, afraid of waking her, and now his arm felt a bit numb. 0

“I didn’t ask you to hold me, and I won’t thank you for it,” Ye Ya turned her head away, not wanting to look at him. She gently touched Chen Chen’s head and confirmed that the fever had indeed broken. 0

The little one seemed to be in better spirits. Ye Ya picked her up to feed her. Fortunately, she could still manage to feed the little one; otherwise, Ye Ya would have felt even guiltier. 0

“I know you don’t need to thank me. It’s only natural to hold my wife,” Lu Tianyang stretched his limbs, trying to loosen up. 0

“Who’s your wife? Don’t say things like that,” Ye Ya immediately retorted. Whether she could marry him was still uncertain. 0

“By the way, Xiao Ya, we should find a time to take the child to see Grandpa. He wants to meet her,” Lu Tianyang suggested quietly. With Grandpa’s support, their marriage would be much easier. 0

Ye Ya understood that he was really just interested in the child and definitely not in seeing her, a woman with a tarnished reputation. Especially in wealthy families, these matters were taken very seriously. Thinking of her own grandfather made her realize this; when she returned to the Ye Family, she had also undergone a paternity test first. 0
