Dressed in her wedding gown, Tao Momo couldn't help but exclaim, "I swear, Lu Tianyang must have measured you for this! It fits you perfectly; there's no need for any alterations."
Ye Ya was momentarily taken aback. Back then, when they weren't together, how did he know her measurements so well?
"If Lu Tianyang sees you like this, his eyes are going to pop out," Tao Momo remarked. She was a stunning beauty herself, but even she couldn't help but steal glances at Ye Ya.
Lu Tianyang had already changed into his suit. For men, it was easier; they didn’t have to deal with makeup and hairstyling. Sitting in the waiting room outside, he had already looked over several times.
"Are you that eager, Lu Tianyang? Ever since you got married, it’s like you’ve become a different person. From now on, Ye Ya will have you on a tight leash," Qi Fan commented, genuinely puzzled. If they weren't long-time friends, he would have thought Lu Tianyang was someone entirely different.
Lu Tianyang shot a disdainful glance at Qi Fan, wearing an expression of pride. "How could someone unloved like you understand the happiness of having a wife and children?"
Qi Fan scratched his head. "Is it really as great as you say?"
"Of course! Just look at Mo Mo; she's so much better than those flings of yours."
Mentioning that tomboyish woman made Qi Fan break out in a cold sweat; he couldn't understand what was so appealing about her.
While the two men chatted outside, inside, Ye Ya and Tao Momo had changed into their outfits. Tao Momo's bridesmaid dress was her own design—a simple white gown that hugged her waist perfectly. It wouldn’t overshadow the bride but would also ensure Ye Ya didn’t feel embarrassed.
Ye Ya looked at her, his best friend. "Mo Mo, when will I get to see you in a wedding gown?"
"Oh come on, today you're the star! Don't talk about me. Let’s go; I bet the groom is waiting anxiously," Tao Momo quickly changed the subject.
When the changing room door swung open, both men were left speechless. Lu Tianyang knew Ye Ya was beautiful, but seeing her in a wedding gown took his breath away.
Qi Fan was equally stunned; he couldn’t believe that tomboyish Tao Momo could exude such femininity. With every smile and glance, she resembled an ethereal spirit who had wandered into the mortal realm.
Ye Ya couldn’t help but laugh at Lu Tianyang’s foolish expression. "Have you seen enough?"
Tao Momo walked over and pinched Qi Fan hard. "What are you looking at? If you keep staring at Xiao Ya, do you believe I’ll gouge out your eyes?"
Qi Fan winced in pain, furrowing his brows. Indeed, this woman was so fierce; how could he ever think of her as delicate? He would never admit that he had actually been looking at her just now.
"You tomboy, so fierce—who would dare to marry you?" Qi Fan couldn't help but feel concerned for her. With such a fierce temperament, who could handle her?
"Bastard, why don’t you go die? Whether I get married or not is none of your business!" Tao Momo shot back at him, her image of a lady completely shattered. This jerk had such a filthy mouth that it made her want to slap him a few times.
Lu Tianyang couldn't be bothered with them. He took Ye Ya's hand and said, "Wife, you're so beautiful that I don’t even want anyone else to see you. Sigh, there will be so many guests on our wedding day."
Seeing his distressed expression made her smile even wider. "Stop talking nonsense; the beauties you've seen could line the streets from one end to the other."
Lu Tianyang wrapped his arm around her waist and whispered in her ear, "No way, there's only you."
"How blissful." After saying that, Lu Tianyang took the opportunity to plant a kiss on her cheek.
After trying on the wedding dress, the four of them went to a restaurant for dinner. Qi Fan and Tao Momo couldn’t stand each other, and after the meal, Lu Tianyang directly took Ye Ya back to the Lu Family. As for Tao Momo, Lu Tianyang handed her over to Qi Fan, instructing him to take her home.
In the car, Ye Ya couldn’t help but express her concern. "Lu Tianyang, aren’t those two going to end up fighting?"
While starting the car, Lu Tianyang replied, "Who cares about them? Maybe they'll end up developing feelings while arguing. Let’s head home early, shall we?"
On the road in the opposite direction, Tao Momo felt that being in the same space as Qi Fan made even the air feel nauseating.
"Idiot, let me out of the car; I don’t need your fake kindness." Being with this jerk was like waiting for a meteor to collide with Earth; she had never met someone so unbearable.
"Shut up! You think I want to take you home? Don’t act like we’re close or something. Don’t worry; I’m not interested in a woman like you at all," Qi Fan thought to himself. How could this fine young man be reduced to nothing in her eyes? He had already looked down on her sense of aesthetics countless times.
"Stop the car, I don't need you to give me a ride. Who would want to sit in your junk?" Tao Momo was furious; sometimes she felt like giving him a hard slap just to vent her frustration.
Suddenly, the car came to a halt. Qi Fan looked at her and said, "You think I really want to take you home, you shrew?"
Tao Momo didn't want to say another word to him. She opened the car door and got out, saying, "Get lost! Go as far away as you can!"
"Fine, just remember that you really don't want me to take you home," Qi Fan replied, glancing at their location. They were on the highway, and it wasn't easy to hail a ride here. He hoped this woman would swallow her pride and beg him.
"Get lost! I wouldn't want your help even if I were dying!" Tao Momo turned her head away.
"Alright, then take your time walking," he said, and with that, the car sped past her. Having just rained, the tires splashed mud all over her white dress. Tao Momo was furious, her anger boiling over. In a fit of rage, she threw one of her high heels at the car, but it quickly disappeared from sight.
"Qi Fan, you big jerk!" Tao Momo felt like she had boarded a pirate ship; she should have listened to her instincts and not fallen for his tricks.
As if things couldn't get worse, when she tried to retrieve her other shoe, it got stuck in a crevice between some rocks. As she twisted her foot to free it, pain shot through her ankle.
She gasped and carefully pulled her foot out of the high heel. Thinking about being Ye Ya's bridesmaid in a few days, she knew she couldn't afford any injuries; that would be such a shame.
Cars zoomed by on the highway, but none stopped for her. Besides, she didn't dare get into a stranger's vehicle.
She rummaged through her bag for her phone. After checking it, Tao Momo couldn't help but exclaim in frustration, "Of all times to run out of battery!"
Looking at the time on her phone—over ten o'clock—she wondered when she'd be able to get home from this desolate place. Once again, she cursed Qi Fan under her breath.
Taking a deep breath, she reminded herself that there was no reason to let this situation get the best of her. She recalled how she managed on her own while living abroad.
With determination, Tao Momo tossed her expensive high heels aside; after all, they were useless now anyway.
Qi Fan had already left the highway, but as the car drove further away, an increasing sense of unease settled in his heart. It was late at night, and leaving that fierce woman behind made him worry about her safety. Considering her fiery temperament, any fool who dared to provoke her would surely regret it, but after all, she was still a woman.
Suddenly, Qi Fan slammed on the brakes and hit the steering wheel in frustration, feeling as if two people were fighting inside his head.
"Damn it, Tao Momo, you stubborn woman, what a hassle this is," he muttered under his breath, reluctantly turning the car around to head back.
Before long, he spotted her in the distance, limping along with her bag in hand. Wasn't she just acting tough a moment ago?
He drove back to her and rolled down the window. "Hey, get in the car."
Tao Momo had no desire to speak to him anymore; she didn't even want to look at him.
Noticing that she was barefoot on the asphalt, Qi Fan couldn't help but drive a little closer. "Get in; I'll give you a ride home. You're too old for this childish behavior."
Tao Momo could no longer hold back her anger. She turned around and snapped, "Stay away from me! I don't need your fake kindness!"
With that, she wished she could fly away and never see this jerk again. She tried to hurry off, but no matter how fast she moved, it was hard to run—especially since she had twisted her ankle earlier.
At this point, Qi Fan had no choice but to get out of the car and grabbed her arm. "What happened to your foot?"
"Let go of me! Don't touch me with your filthy hands! Even if my foot were broken right now, I wouldn't need you worrying about it."
In that moment, Qi Fan felt he had never encountered such an ungrateful woman in his life. He almost wished he could leave her there to fend for herself instead of wasting time coming back to check on her.
"Stop squirming; let me see. If your foot is ruined, it’s not my problem," he insisted while trying to examine her injury. But this woman acted like a wild animal and bit his hand.
"Hey, Tao Momo! Are you a dog or something? Let go!" Qi Fan had never seen a woman behave so aggressively; she had completely lost any trace of femininity.
"Don't you dare touch me again, or I'll make you regret it!" If it weren't for him, she wouldn't be in such a miserable state now.
In a fit of anger, Qi Fan picked her up and shoved her into the car, locking the doors.
"Hey, you jerk! What do you think you're doing?" Tao Momo didn't expect this guy to actually dare to hold her. Was he using his strength to bully her?
"Shut up! I've never seen a woman talk so much. Can't you be a little more graceful? Your foot is injured, yet you're still trying to act tough," Qi Fan said as he got into the car, wishing he could knock her head to see if she was some kind of alien.
"Why do you care? Don't think I'll be grateful to you; you can forget it!" Tao Momo turned her head away. The atmosphere in the car was thick with tension, like the calm before a storm.
Neither of them spoke again. Tao Momo turned away and completely ignored the jerk, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep.
When they arrived at the hospital, Qi Fan noticed she was asleep and couldn't help but sigh. This fierce woman was actually quite peaceful when she wasn't talking like this.
"Tao Momo, can't you be a little gentler? You're so fierce all the time; who would dare marry you in the future? You're a disaster waiting to happen," Qi Fan said as he parked the car, preparing to take her to see a doctor.
Just as he was about to carry her out of the car, Tao Momo reflexively slapped him. Qi Fan's face instantly darkened.
