On the day of the wedding, Ye Ya was still leaving from the Ye Family. She wore her father's necklace, and the entire Ye Family was filled with joy, except for Zhao Meiqin and Ye Qi. However, on such an important day, Zhao Meiqin couldn't bear to miss this opportunity. She dressed up beautifully as well. This was a banquet of the Lu Family, and everyone who could attend was either wealthy or noble. Even if she couldn't marry someone like Lu Tianyang, finding a good match would suffice.
Ye Ya felt a bit nervous. "Mo Mo, I can't help but feel uneasy inside."
Tao Momo's foot had already healed; at least walking was no longer a problem. She held Ye Ya's hand reassuringly. "Don't worry, everything will go smoothly today. Soon, Lu Tianyang will come to pick you up, and you will be the happiest bride in the world."
Happiness seemed to come too suddenly, making it feel somewhat unreal. Deep down, Ye Ya felt a hint of unease. She knew that she and Lu Tianyang were already legally married, perhaps because she had once been renowned throughout Ning Cheng.
Ye Tao walked in and saw Ye Ya dressed beautifully; he felt a mix of emotions. "Xiao Ya, you are finally getting married. If your mother were still here, she would be so happy today. Over the years, I haven't taken good care of you; can you forgive me?"
In truth, it wasn't about forgiveness. She had probably adapted to this life after her mother passed away. She envied Ye Qi, who could always be close by while she could only watch from afar. But at least she knew that her father loved her in his own way, and that was enough.
"Dad, you will always be my dad," Ye Ya said with a gentle smile. When she smiled, she resembled her mother, like a pure lily blooming.
Ye Tao felt emotional and gently patted her hand. There was a commotion downstairs; it must be the wedding procession arriving.
Tao Momo peeked through the window and confirmed that the welcoming party had indeed arrived. She planned to give Lu Tianyang a piece of her mind later; she had prepared a speech for him to say publicly. The corners of Tao Momo's mouth lifted slightly.
As the best man, Qi Fan naturally came along as well. After that night together, Tao Momo had been deliberately avoiding Qi Fan. Now that he was here as the best man, she decided to settle old scores while having fun with everyone.
After some time had passed, Lu Tianyang finally brought the bride out and helped her into the luxurious Rolls Royce. He held her hand excitedly. "Wife, I've finally got you!"
Ye Ya smiled back and squeezed his hand. With his grip around hers, she felt warmth; no matter how many difficulties lay ahead, she had confidence to face them as long as he was by her side.
The wedding ceremony took place at Ning Cheng's most luxurious seaside resort, chosen for its beautiful beachfront setting under the blue sky and white clouds. In front of all their witnesses, he took Ye Ya as his wife.
Standing at one end of the red carpet, Ye Ya knew that Lu Tianyang awaited her at the other end. She linked arms with Ye Tao and slowly walked toward him; his face became clearer with each step.
Flowers were scattered everywhere as applause erupted around them. Amidst the flowers and cheers, she walked toward Lu Tianyang. It seemed that only by going through this ceremony could they truly be considered husband and wife since it was completed in front of all their witnesses.
The priest recited the eternal and ancient vows: “Miss Ye Ya, do you take Mr. Lu Tianyang to be your husband? In poverty and in wealth, in sickness and in health, will you love and cherish him? Will you be faithful to him for all the days of your life?”
Ye Ya looked into Lu Tianyang's eyes and solemnly nodded, “I do.”
The priest continued, “Mr. Lu Tianyang, do you take Miss Ye Ya to be your wife? In poverty and in wealth, in sickness and in health, will you love and cherish her? Will you be faithful to her for all the days of your life?”
At that moment, a beautiful woman appeared at the other end of the red carpet. She was also dressed in a white gown, her long brown waves flowing gracefully with the sea breeze, looking like a fairy.
She removed her sunglasses and gazed directly at the man on the altar.
Ye Ya sensed Lu Tianyang's distraction and followed his gaze. It was a stunning woman she had never seen before.
The priest waited for Lu Tianyang's response but heard nothing. He asked again, and after taking a deep breath, Lu Tianyang nodded, still caught off guard by Wan Jing's unexpected return. “I do.”
“Now I declare that Mr. Lu Tianyang and Miss Ye Ya are officially husband and wife. Mr. Lu Tianyang may kiss the bride.” Shen Ye announced. Ye Ya felt that Lu Tianyang seemed somewhat reluctant—was it because of that woman? A simple kiss would suffice.
Du Huiru noticed the woman who had suddenly appeared at the wedding. She grabbed Lu Jianming's hand excitedly. “Honey, Wan Jing is back.”
Fu Wan Jing never expected that one day Lu Tianyang would marry another woman. Watching him kiss his bride on stage stirred feelings she thought had settled long ago. She realized that all these years, she had merely been deceiving herself; unfortunately, the one standing beside him as his bride was not her.
The wedding ceremony concluded quickly, and soon all the guests began to take their seats in the hotel. Ye Ya seized the opportunity to return to the lounge.
Tao Momo noticed that Ye Ya's complexion was not good; she had seen the woman who had appeared unexpectedly as well. She gently patted Ye Ya's shoulder. “Xiao Ya, are you okay? You still need to go out for toasts later.”
“Momo, did you see how different Lu Tianyang looked when he saw that woman?” Fear crept into her heart; she felt uneasy.
“Don’t think too much about it. You have to trust Lu Tianyang; I don’t think he’s that kind of unfaithful person.” Discussing such matters at this occasion was indeed inappropriate, but Ye Ya knew she could not let herself become a joke again.
“Right, just get through this for now. After the banquet, I’ll ask Lu Tianyang.” Ye Ya reassured herself internally. She needed to believe in Lu Tianyang; she couldn’t let an unfamiliar woman ruin her wedding. It hadn’t been easy for her to reach this point with him, and for Chen Chen’s sake, she had to stand her ground.
Ye Ya changed into a new gown, but when she stepped out of the dressing room, she couldn't find Lu Tianyang among the crowd. A sense of urgency washed over her as she scanned the sea of faces. Was she really expected to toast the guests all by herself? Was that even reasonable?
Tao Momo pulled out her phone and couldn't help but call Qi Fan. "Hey, where's Lu Tianyang? Are we really going to let Xiao Ya toast the guests alone?"
"Mo Mo, don't worry. I'll go find Lu Tianyang right now," Qi Fan replied, equally anxious. He hadn't anticipated Fu Wan Jing's sudden appearance. He knew a bit about her past with Lu Tianyang, but given the current situation, Lu Tianyang couldn't just vanish. How could Ye Ya face everyone alone?
"Xiao Ya, don't fret. Qi Fan is looking for Lu Tianyang and will be back soon," Tao Momo said, squeezing Ye Ya's hand. She felt how cold Ye Ya's palm was and cursed Lu Tianyang under her breath for disappearing at such a crucial moment.
Half an hour passed, and Lu Tianyang still hadn't returned. The guests at the banquet were waiting for the newlyweds to make their toasts.
Even Ye Tao approached to ask where Lu Tianyang had gone. Ye Ya had no idea where he could be; she didn't even dare to think about whether he might have gone off to find that woman who had suddenly appeared.
At that moment, she felt compelled to seek help from Du Huiru and walked over to her. "Mom, do you know where Lu Tianyang is?"
Du Huiru snorted in disdain. This daughter-in-law was truly useless. "You can't even keep track of your own husband, and you come asking me?" Although Du Huiru didn't particularly like Ye Ya, she knew they couldn't afford to lose face today.
Ye Ya felt lost, but the banquet had to continue. Qi Fan returned, and Tao Momo pinched him hard. "Where is he? Where's Lu Tianyang?"
"Mo Mo, I can't find him either. What are we going to do now?" Qi Fan said, feeling frustrated.
Ye Ya glanced at the guests surrounding them and took a deep breath. "Mo Mo, go tell the emcee that the groom is unwell and that we should proceed with the toasts ourselves. We can't let this banquet fall apart."
Ye Zhen couldn't let this situation slide either; it was unacceptable for the groom not to appear at his own wedding. The Ye family had already lost face once today; they couldn't afford another embarrassment.
"What on earth is going on? Where's Lu Tianyang?" Ye Zhen asked, trying to suppress his anger.
"Dad, I'm sorry. Lu Tianyang isn't feeling well and is resting in the dressing room. I'll personally go toast the guests in a bit." With that, Ye Ya steeled herself for what was to come.
"Fine then, I'll join you for the toasts later. In-laws, please take a seat," Du Huiru said, though both she and Lu Jianming were caught off guard by this turn of events. However, since the wedding had already progressed this far, it couldn't be canceled now—even if they didn't particularly care for Ye Ya.
With Du Huiru and Lu Jianming toasting together, Ye Ya felt a slight sense of relief. She drank cup after cup, grateful for the drinking skills she had honed back in the Ye Family. With Tao Momo and Qi Fan by her side, constantly helping her fend off drinks, Ye Ya managed to navigate the socializing without it becoming too awkward.
She lost count of how many cups she had consumed. By the time she saw the guests leaving one by one, her head felt like it was about to explode. Tao Momo stayed beside her, supporting her throughout.
After the banquet, despite the absence of the main character, Du Huiru found herself looking at Ye Ya with newfound respect. She hadn’t expected Ye Ya to handle the guests so calmly; if it had been another woman, she might have been reduced to tears in panic.
By the end of the event, Ye Ya was utterly exhausted. Tao Momo helped her into the bridal chamber. The sight of the bright red wedding room felt particularly jarring to her.
“Xiao Ya, are you okay?” Tao Momo asked. She had also drunk quite a bit but not nearly as much as Ye Ya. If it were someone else, they would have likely been drunk by now.
“Mo Mo, you’re tired too. Go rest. Qi Fan, please help take care of Mo Mo for me; I need to rest a bit,” Ye Ya waved her hand weakly, her head feeling too heavy to lift.
She didn’t want to think about where Lu Tianyang had gone tonight or what urgent matter could have caused him to leave her alone with so many guests. Could he even imagine how all those guests were looking at her?
Fortunately, sometimes she felt like a resilient weed that could survive no matter how much it was trampled. So Lu Tianyang, could you really leave me like this? Did you forget so quickly the vows we made before the priest today?
Ye Ya admired herself; even now, she hadn’t shed a single tear.
