Ye Ya knew that Jing Hao disliked her, but she never expected him to hate her this much. After all, one couldn't just bite back after being bitten by a dog. She decided to ignore him completely.
This only made Jing Hao more unwilling to back down. He released the Blonde Beauty and blocked the elevator door.
“Jing Hao, can you not be so shameless? I’m your cousin-in-law now, so show me some respect,” Ye Ya said, raising an eyebrow slightly. Anyone familiar with her would know that she was angry.
“Ye Ya, you actually got together with my cousin! You wicked woman,” Jing Hao exclaimed. When he first learned that Ye Ya had married Lu Tianyang, he couldn't find the words to describe his feelings. Although it was his family who called off the engagement, the person they rejected was now with his cousin.
Jing Hao was the type of person who wouldn't want something for himself but wouldn't allow others to have it either.
Ye Ya didn’t want to waste any more time arguing with him. She reached out and easily pulled Jing Hao aside; he was no match for her compared to that scoundrel Lu Tianyang.
“You fierce woman,” Jing Hao wanted to curse, but Ye Ya had already closed the elevator door.
Fuming, Jing Hao kicked the elevator door, scuffing his handmade Italian leather shoes in the process, which made him cry out in pain.
“Shaohao, why bother with her? Let’s go,” the Blonde Beauty said, casting him a flirtatious glance. However, Jing Hao's mood had been completely ruined by Ye Ya.
“I’m not going anymore. Let’s leave,” Jing Hao said, feeling frustrated. From now on, she could go wherever she wanted; he wished his mother would stop nitpicking. “Wife, come eat,” Lu Tianyang had initially planned to wait for her return, but his mother insisted on not waiting. He had called several times in the afternoon without getting through.
“Mom, I went to a friend’s place—a female friend. I went to check on Chen Chen.” After being out all day, Ye Ya felt uneasy about leaving her daughter.
Upon returning home, she took Chen Chen from the nanny. The little one looked aggrieved, with tears still glistening on her eyelashes—clearly, she had been quite upset earlier.
“Sweetheart, did you miss Mommy?” Thankfully at the Lu Family, Guo Ma took good care of the children.
Ye Ya fed Chen Chen until she was full. When she went downstairs, the dishes had already been cleared away. She decided not to go down again and turned back to her room; it had been a long and tiring day.
She took out her phone only to find it was dead. She grabbed a charger and plugged it in to recharge.
Lu Tianyang walked in, carrying a dish in his hands. "Wife, come eat. You must be tired. I called you several times this afternoon, but you didn’t answer."
Ye Ya turned her head, surprised to see Lu Tianyang bringing food upstairs. She hadn’t planned to respond to him.
"My phone died. I went to the store."
"Oh, I see. Come eat quickly; I had Guo Ma save this for you." Lu Tianyang placed the food on the table, walked over, and pulled her to sit down in front of it.
The meals from the Lu Family were always exquisite. Ye Ya picked up her chopsticks without hesitation, but Lu Tianyang kept staring at her. "If you keep looking at me like that, how can I have an appetite?"
"Then I won't look. You eat; I'll go check on Chen Chen. By the way, wife, how about we go to Nanshan for a vacation this weekend?" Lu Tianyang wanted to take the opportunity of the weekend to mend their relationship. Their honeymoon plans had never materialized.
"I'm not going." Ye Ya didn’t want to waste time, and there seemed to be no need for her to go with Lu Tianyang anymore.
"Why not?" Lu Tianyang felt frustrated. He had rearranged many of his work commitments just to spend time with her.
Ye Ya didn’t respond; she picked up her bowl and started eating, too lazy to argue. Lu Tianyang decided not to press her further and fell silent.
Noticing her phone charging, he thought it might be time to get her a new one.
After finishing their meal, Guo Ma came in to clear the dishes. She knew that Lady had been at odds with the young master lately and could understand why Lady was upset. On their wedding day, so many guests had been watching her make a fool of herself; anyone would have been angry in her position.
"Lady, this meal was specially saved for you by the young master. He really cares about you," Guo Ma said.
Hearing Guo Ma's words, Ye Ya nodded. "Thank you, Guo Ma." She might be important, but compared to Fu Wan Jing, she felt like she was on a completely different level.
"Wife, if you're full and not going to Nanshan, where would you like to go?" Lu Tianyang approached her with an air of trying to please her. Ye Ya wasn’t naive; life had to go on.
"Lu Tianyang, I don’t want to go out; I've been busy lately," Ye Ya replied honestly. It wasn’t anything shameful.
“Wife, are you that busy? If you need any help, just let me know, and I’ll take care of it.” Lu Tianyang couldn’t bear to see her working so hard; whatever she wanted to do, he was willing to help her achieve it.
“Don’t! It’s different. I want to accomplish this with my own effort, so don’t meddle.” This was her domain, and she needed to realize it with her own hands. In the future, she would only trust herself.
“Can you forgive me? You’ve been upset for so long, and when you’re not happy, my heart breaks too.” This kind of silent torment was wearing him down as well.
“Stop being unreasonable. Just behave yourself and let go of me.” Ye Ya glared at the man who seemed intent on getting closer again. With a fierce look, Lu Tianyang reluctantly withdrew his hand from her waist, letting out a reluctant “oh.”
After walking all day, Ye Ya felt that since giving birth, her body hadn’t been as good as before. She was exhausted and headed into the bathroom.
When she came out after her shower, Lu Tianyang was in the study. This was actually quite nice; they wouldn’t disturb each other. Ye Ya took out her laptop and revised her proposal again; she wouldn’t fight a battle she wasn’t sure of winning.
It was past ten o’clock when Lu Tianyang shut down his computer and glanced into the bedroom. That woman seemed busier than he was. He wanted to help her, but she didn’t appreciate it—what a stubborn woman.
He walked over. “Wife, don’t tire yourself out too much.”
Before Ye Ya could respond, Lu Tianyang’s phone rang. Seeing it was Fu Wan Jing calling, he frowned slightly. If he avoided Ye Ya to answer the call, she might misunderstand again.
He decided to answer directly. “Hello, Wan Jing? Why are you calling so late?”
“Lu Tianyang, am I disturbing you?” Fu Wan Jing’s sweet voice came through the phone, causing Ye Ya’s fingers to pause over the keyboard involuntarily.
“No, what’s up?” Lu Tianyang glanced at the woman beside him; she didn’t seem to care about this annoying woman at all—was she really indifferent?
“We’re having a reunion with our college classmates this weekend. It’s been years since we last met. Will you come?” Fu Wan Jing’s voice was filled with anticipation. Lu Tianyang thought for a moment; it was only natural for classmates to gather since Fu Wan Jing hadn’t been back in so long.
“Sure, I’ll definitely come. Alright, goodbye.” After hanging up the phone, he stood next to Ye Ya.
Tonight he had coaxed her into going on vacation to Nanshan, but now just one call from Fu Wan Jing had canceled those plans. Lu Tianyang, you never really had me in your heart at all.
She couldn't help but let out a cold laugh, feeling ridiculous. "Ye Ya, how self-destructive can you be? He can go wherever he wants; that's his freedom. Didn't I say I wouldn't care anymore? So what does this count as now?"
"Wife, don't misunderstand. Wan Jing called about a class reunion, and I wanted to take you with me," Lu Tianyang quickly explained. This woman's feelings were as unpredictable as a needle in the ocean; he had no idea what he needed to do to make her happy.
Trust was like a piece of white paper; once crumpled, it wasn't easy to restore it to its original state. At this moment, in Ye Ya's heart, Lu Tianyang was that crumpled paper.
"You don't need to explain to me; just go," Ye Ya said. She felt that throwing a tantrum or forbidding him from going would be foolish. If a man's heart wasn't in it anymore, no matter how much you cared, he wouldn't belong to you.
Moreover, she seemed to have forgotten the original intention behind Lu Tianyang marrying her. They had never married for love; marrying her was merely for Chen Chen's sake.
So why demand too much? Ye Ya thought to herself, feeling utterly ridiculous.
"You should come with me; it would be a good opportunity for you to meet my classmates."
Hearing this, Ye Ya couldn't help but laugh. "No need. On the wedding day, I doubt your classmates didn't recognize me." How many people had watched her make a fool of herself? She had greeted them with smiles while raising glasses at table after table. In such a wedding, with such a bride, who could forget her face filled with embarrassment?
Ye Ya closed her computer and tidied up the documents. She really didn't want to put on a brave face just to show off her affection in front of Fu Wan Jing.
"Wife, are you still angry? I'm just afraid you'll misunderstand. There's nothing between Wan Jing and me; it's all in the past. Can you trust me?"
"Mm." The simplicity of Ye Ya's response left Lu Tianyang at a loss for words. He pulled her closer. "You just don't trust me. How can I prove it to you?"
Ye Ya sighed softly. "Lu Tianyang, I don't want to argue with you. I never said I didn't trust you; you can do whatever you want; it's your freedom, and I have no right to question it."
"You are angry! Wife, your anger actually makes me happy because it shows you care about me. But you've been upset for so long without forgiving me—why not just hit me?" After saying this, Lu Tianyang took her hand and playfully slammed it against himself.
"Are you crazy? Let go of me!"
"I won't let go. If you don't forgive me, then I won't let go." Lu Tianyang stubbornly insisted. After all this time, she should have calmed down by now. If she still couldn't let go of her anger, then let her hit him; at least it would make her feel better inside.
“Bastard, it doesn’t hurt you, but my hand hurts.” Ye Ya thought disdainfully.
Hearing Ye Ya say this, Lu Tianyang immediately stopped and looked at her hand. “Wife, I’m sorry. Does it still hurt?” After saying this, he blew on her hand as if soothing a child.
Ye Ya pulled her hand back. “Lu Tianyang, can you stop being so childish? You’re even worse than Chen Chen. It’s disgusting.”
“As long as you’re not angry anymore, that’s all that matters. If you don’t like it, I won’t go. How about that?” Right now, calming his wife was the priority.
Listening to Lu Tianyang, Ye Ya felt a bit better. “Go ahead; I didn’t say anything. I’ve just been busy lately.”
“But I clearly see that you’re angry. If you’re upset, I won’t go.”
“Bastard, which of your eyes saw me being angry? Stop throwing dirt on me and get away!” Ye Ya tried to walk away but was tightly held by him.
“If you’re not angry, then let me kiss you.”
