If he had known that things would come to this point, Lu Tianyang would have preferred not to go. "Honey, will you trust me? I just want to spend my life with you."
"Trust you, Lu Tianyang? You call Fu Wan Jing so affectionately every day. If she needs you next time, will you rush to her side? You're really pushing it," Ye Ya said, unable to contain her anger despite her usually good temper.
"Then I won't call her Wan Jing anymore. If I need to see her next time, I'll take you with me. How about that?" He admitted that he had truly loved her back in the day, but after they broke up, Fu Wan Jing went abroad. All these years later, she remained a beautiful memory in his heart. Now, he knew who his true wife was—the woman he couldn't bear to see unhappy.
"I don't believe you. Every time you swear up and down, but as soon as she has a problem, you turn your back on me. Lu Tianyang, I can't trust you anymore." Ye Ya turned her head away, still feeling furious. If he had the guts to be with her, why bother getting entangled with her and then come back to explain himself?
"Honey, I swear! Tell me what I need to do for you to believe me; I will do it," Lu Tianyang regretted ever getting into this situation. He was exhausted from talking so much over such a trivial matter. Of course, if he saw another man kiss Ye Ya, he would definitely beat that guy up. Honestly, she was doing pretty well.
Ye Ya thought for a moment; their marriage had just begun. Looking at Lu Tianyang's remorseful expression, could she really keep fighting with him every day? That would only benefit those petty people. She needed to defend her marriage not just for herself but also for Chen Chen.
"Lu Tianyang, if you want me to trust you, arrange a meeting with Fu Wan Jing tomorrow. I want you to tell her clearly in front of me that she needs to respect our relationship from now on." Seeing Fu Wan Jing acting like a spoiled young lady, she should know when to step back.
Hearing Ye Ya's words, Lu Tianyang hesitated. If he were that direct, Fu Wan Jing would likely be hurt. To be honest, he didn't want to be so ruthless.
"Don't even think about it, Lu Tianyang. Don't say I'm not giving you a chance; from now on, stay away from me and don't touch me—you're dirty." Ye Ya looked at his troubled expression and understood. Fine then; since it was like this, she wouldn't force him.
Suddenly, Lu Tianyang pulled her down and held her tightly in his arms. "Okay, honey, I'll do as you say. Don't be angry anymore; I feel terrible when I upset you."
"Ugh! Let go of me! Don't use your hands that touched her on me—it's disgusting!" Ye Ya pushed his hand away, not wanting him to think this would earn him forgiveness.
"I didn't touch her! I'm so unlucky! I'm going to take a shower now; is that okay?" Lu Tianyang took a couple of steps but then turned back to look at Ye Ya with a mischievous smile. "Honey, if you're worried, why don't you come in and help me wash?"
"Lu Tianyang, can you be any more shameless?" After saying that, Ye Ya felt an urge to disinfect herself.
"Alright then; I'll save my shamelessness for when it's needed. Be good and don't be angry," Lu Tianyang decided not to push her further since today he was clearly in the wrong. When Fu Wan Jing kissed him earlier, he should have pushed her away—then nothing would have happened. In fact, at that moment, his mind had gone blank; he hadn't expected Fu Wan Jing would dare kiss him in public—she was completely different from how she used to be.
Ye Ya watched as Lu Tianyang walked into the bathroom and let out a sigh of relief. After all, Fu Wan Jing had only kissed him once; they couldn't let something like this ruin their marriage.
Marriage and career—Ye Ya decided she needed to juggle both and not let others take advantage of her. Besides, she had always been the one at a disadvantage; it was time for things to turn around. At the very least, if she wasn't happy, those who made her unhappy should feel the same way too.
Ye Ya forced a smile, realizing that ever since she entered the Lu Family, she had become increasingly cunning. It was surely true that one becomes like those they associate with, especially with that rascal by her side.
Lu Tianyang emerged from the shower, and Guo Ma called everyone to dinner. When Lu Old Man saw his grandson with wet hair still dripping, he couldn't help but say, "Lu Tianyang, you took a shower so early and didn't even dry your hair. Xiao Ya, why don't you say something to him? Bring a towel for the young master."
Lu Tianyang dared not mention that it was his wife's dissatisfaction that prompted him to take a shower. However, he feigned indifference and waved his hand. "Grandpa, it's fine. I'm a man, not a delicate girl. Besides, when you were fighting back in the day, what hardships didn't you endure? This is nothing."
"That's true. Come eat," Lu Old Man thought it over and found it reasonable. After all, men should be tough and resilient.
Tonight, Du Huiru was absent, making the dinner table particularly harmonious. Ye Ya moved the stewed tofu in front of the old man. "Grandpa, this tofu Guo Ma made is very flavorful; you should try it." Ye Ya had observed that the old man had a fondness for tofu dishes, while Du Huiru preferred exquisite food, and Lu Jianming's favorite was Braised Lion's Head.
"Good, you all eat more too; give me another grandson," the old man said, clearly concerned about continuing the family line.
"Sure, Grandpa, don't worry. I will not fail my mission and will ensure its completion. Right, dear?" After saying this, Lu Tianyang cast a sly glance at Ye Ya and secretly chuckled to himself—this time it was Grandpa's order; they had to comply.
"Hurry up and eat; weren't you just saying you were hungry?" With that, Ye Ya shoved a large piece of braised pork into his mouth. Damn it for secretly plotting against her; she sighed inwardly at having such a rogue husband.
After dinner, they stayed in the living room with the old man for a while to watch an anti-Japanese war film while listening to him recount stories of heroes from his past.
Ye Ya only watched for a bit before hearing Chen Chen cry and decided to head upstairs. After she left, Lu Old Man looked at Lu Tianyang with an absent-minded expression and waved his hand dismissively. "You little rascal, it's just your wife who went upstairs. Look at how many times you've glanced up there; hurry up and go after her. You don't need to stay here."
Lu Tianyang shamelessly nodded and confidently replied, "Grandpa, I'm doing this for the sake of the Lu Family's lineage. Alright then, I'll head up first."
Back in their room, Chen Chen had stopped crying. He took her from Ye Ya's arms and said, "Chen Chen, do you want Daddy to hold you? Smile for Daddy, okay?"
"You think Chen Chen is here to sell smiles? Chen Chen, ignore him," Ye Ya said while tidying up the freshly changed diaper and rolled her eyes at him.
When Chen Chen saw Lu Tianyang, it seemed she also liked handsome men; her little hands waved excitedly as she smiled at him, which made him even more smug.
"Wife, did you hear what Grandpa said earlier?" Lu Tianyang asked seriously while playing with their daughter as if he were about to discuss something important—though he was just being a complete scoundrel.
"I didn't hear anything."
"Oh, then I'll go down and tell Grandpa again," Lu Tianyang said, pretending to get up. In reality, he was just trying to tease her, but the woman grew anxious. "Lu Tianyang, are you just bored and looking for trouble?"
"Wife, we have to listen to Grandpa's orders."
"Don't be shameless; I can't be bothered to argue with you." Ye Ya knew him well enough to see through his intentions just by looking at his expression.
After holding her for a while, Lu Tianyang had the nanny take Chen Chen out. Watching the woman busying herself in the study, he really wanted to say: "Wife, stop working; my gold card has always been in your hands."
But he knew she wouldn't listen to him; it was truly frustrating.
"Wife." Lu Tianyang called out softly, but his hand was about to take advantage again when Ye Ya smacked it with a ruler.
"I'm telling you, don't think I've forgiven you. Now, call Fu Wan Jing and arrange to meet her tomorrow." Ye Ya twirled a pen in her hand. Lu Tianyang didn't hesitate this time; he quickly dialed Fu Wan Jing's number, and Ye Ya took his phone and put it on speaker.
Fu Wan Jing was puzzled about why Lu Tianyang had suddenly left today. Remembering how she had kissed him in public made her heart race again. She wondered if Lu Tianyang understood her feelings.
He married Ye Ya just for the child; she couldn't believe he would forget her so easily. Receiving his call made Fu Wan Jing overjoyed, but she didn't dare show it too obviously. "Lu Tianyang," she said sweetly, her voice laced with a hint of flirtation, unsure of how to start.
"Are you free tomorrow morning? There are some things I want to clarify with you face-to-face," Lu Tianyang said without beating around the bush. The woman beside him was watching him closely; he knew he had brought this upon himself and couldn't blame her.
"Yes, okay. See you tomorrow," Fu Wan Jing replied reluctantly, not wanting to hang up just yet.
As the call lingered on, Ye Ya suddenly wrapped her arms around Lu Tianyang's neck and planted a hard kiss on his cheek, deliberately making a loud smacking sound. The phone call ended abruptly. She smirked wickedly, wondering if Fu Wan Jing would be able to sleep tonight.
Lu Tianyang gently tapped her on the head. "You little vixen; are you satisfied now?"
"Hmph, Lu Tianyang, you're still pining for your first love," Ye Ya teased as she tried to get up from his lap but found her waist pinned down by him.
"Nonsense! Wife, I'm not someone you can kiss whenever you want; there are consequences for igniting passion." With that said, Lu Tianyang stopped talking and directly carried her into the bathroom.
"Hey, put me down!" Ye Ya protested as she pinched him hard, but he showed no signs of letting go.
“Resistance is futile. Besides, my dear, didn’t you listen to Grandpa this evening? As the heir of the Lu Family, I have an obligation to ensure you bear a few more children,” Lu Tianyang said, feeling quite pleased with himself.
Ye Ya didn’t want to describe how exhausting the bath had been. She had been perfectly fine before entering the bathroom, but now she was completely reliant on this man to carry her out. Once he laid her on the bed, she threw a pillow at him. “You’re not human, Lu Tianyang. You really aren’t.”
Lu Tianyang caught the pillow with one hand. “Wife, you still have some strength left? Well then, I suppose I can reluctantly satisfy you one more time.”
Ye Ya felt like crying; he had already worn her out completely. Wasn’t that enough?
“I don’t want it anymore. Don’t touch me; I feel like I’m dying.” Ye Ya couldn’t help but soften; how could she possibly compete with this scoundrel?
“Alright, silly girl, I was just teasing you. I’ll go get the hairdryer to dry your hair.” Lu Tianyang merely wanted to scare her a little. He pulled out the hairdryer, plugged it in, and waved for her to come over.
But that woman refused to budge. He frowned slightly. “Wife, be good and come here so I can dry your hair before bed.”
“Scoundrel, I’m so tired.” Ye Ya obediently shuffled over.
Lu Tianyang let her rest her head on his lap. Her long hair was beautiful and of excellent quality; he loved the feeling of her hair wrapping around his fingers. There’s a saying that goes: Long Hair Entwines Your Heart.
