Lu Tianyang looked at the sun outside, feeling that it was particularly bright. Watching her tie his necktie felt like a moment shared by an old married couple. He wrapped his arms around her waist and said, "Wife, you’re not working late today. You have to come back on time, okay?"
Ye Ya smiled. This man was reminding her of the important day it was, but she pretended not to know. "Husband, maybe not. You know how busy I’ve been lately. Once the company gets back on track, things will be better. You have to understand your wife; I know you’re the best husband."
Hearing Ye Ya say this made Lu Tianyang want to knock on her head. How could this woman be so foolish? Did she really not remember his birthday? Was he destined to celebrate it at home with Chen Chen? What a misfortune!
"Wife, you need to come home early to keep me company," Lu Tianyang said, sometimes playful yet unwilling to remind Ye Ya of what day it was. He could only stew in silence, cursing under his breath about his silly wife.
"Alright, you go to work first. I’ll stay home with Chen Chen for a while before heading to the office," Ye Ya said, noticing his awkwardness. She held back her laughter and completely ignored his hints; she was pretending not to know.
"Okay then, let me steal a kiss first." As if punishing her for her inattentiveness, Lu Tianyang pulled her close and pressed her against the table, kissing her deeply. After a long moment, he released her and looked at her slightly swollen lips. His feelings of frustration eased just a bit.
"Wife, you’re getting more and more foolish."
"Of course! Lu Tianyang, don’t you know? They say pregnancy makes you stupid for three years," Ye Ya replied with a distressed expression, making Lu Tianyang feel guilty for saying anything further. After all, she was doing this for their child.
"Alright, I won’t tease you anymore. I even like your foolishness," Lu Tianyang said as he straightened her messy clothes before heading out.
After Lu Tianyang left, Ye Ya quickly made a phone call to order a cake and instructed Guo Ma to prepare ingredients for dinner. Tonight, she wanted to cook a special meal for that stingy man.
He thought she had forgotten his birthday; in reality, she remembered perfectly well. How could such an important day slip her mind?
Once everything was arranged, Ye Ya finally stepped out. "Guo Ma, don’t tell Young Master about tonight. I want to surprise him; he thinks I’ve forgotten."
"Understood! Young Master will be very happy when he finds out," Guo Ma replied. This gesture would surely touch anyone who saw it.
Back at the office, Ye Ya handled some urgent matters and left early in the afternoon. If Lu Tianyang saw her waiting at Lu Family to pick him up after work, would he be happy? He had picked her up so many times; today, on his birthday, what would it hurt for her to do the same?
Besides Ye Ya remembering Lu Tianyang’s birthday, Fu Wan Jing certainly would as well. Such a rare occasion couldn’t go unnoticed by Fu Wan Jing; she brought a cake and headed straight to Lu Family.
Fu Wan Jing was best at playing the violin, so she brought a cake and her violin with her. She still remembered the time back in college when she played the violin while Lu Tianyang watched her; that scene was etched in her memory.
Upon arriving at the reception, the secretary recognized Fu Wan Jing and was about to let her in but politely stopped her. "Are you here to see the President, Fu Wan Jing?"
"Yes, is Lu Tianyang in?" Fu Wan Jing set down her violin.
"The President is busy. Please have a seat for now; I'll go inform him." The secretary didn't dare let her in right away and quickly asked Fu Wan Jing to sit in the lounge, bringing her a cup of coffee.
"President, Fu Wan Jing is here with a cake and wants to see you," the secretary reported honestly.
Lu Tianyang rubbed his temples. It seemed Wan Jing remembered his birthday. "Let her in," he said. He couldn't be completely heartless; after all, Wan Jing hadn't done anything wrong.
"Fu Wan Jing, our President would like you to come in," the secretary quickly informed her.
Fu Wan Jing entered with the cake and placed it on his desk. "Lu Tianyang, Happy Birthday!"
Lu Tianyang glanced at the beautifully crafted cake. "Wan Jing, thank you."
"You've been busy. Thank you for taking me home that day. How about I play you a piece? It's been a long time since you've heard me play the violin." Fu Wan Jing set the cake down and lit the candles.
The melodious sound of the violin began to fill the room as she played "Happy Birthday." Watching Lu Tianyang's expression, Fu Wan Jing's lips curled into a slight smile. As a dedicated violinist, she effortlessly captivated everyone with her music.
After finishing "Happy Birthday," Fu Wan Jing turned on Lu Tianyang's sound system, and romantic waltz music began to play. She walked over and extended her hand. "Mr. Lu, would you do me the honor of dancing with me?"
Lu Tianyang raised an eyebrow at Fu Wan Jing's bright demeanor. He stood up from his leather chair, took her hand, and they began to dance in the office.
After arranging everything, Ye Ya drove directly to the Lu Family. Upon entering the grand hall, the receptionist recognized her immediately and, not daring to stop the President's wife, personally escorted Ye Ya to the private elevator.
Ye Ya pressed the button for her floor, imagining what Lu Tianyang's expression would be when he saw her waiting for him after work.
The elevator arrived quickly. As Ye Ya stepped out, she headed straight for Lu Tianyang's office. The secretary was momentarily taken aback upon seeing her. "Madam President, what brings you here today?" she asked nervously. Fu Wan Jing was still in the President's office, and if the Madam saw her, it could lead to trouble.
"Don't tell him I'm here. I want to give him a surprise. Oh, Lu Tianyang really has a taste for music; he's listening to such relaxing tunes during work hours." Thinking back to his gloomy expression that morning as he left, Ye Ya couldn't help but smile.
"Um, Madam, should I notify the President first? You can sit down for a moment," the secretary suggested hesitantly.
Ye Ya raised an eyebrow at the secretary's anxious expression. Was there something in Lu Tianyang's office that she shouldn't see?
"No need. You go ahead and do your work; I can go in by myself." Her firm tone left no room for argument, causing the secretary to stand aside, feeling as restless as an ant on a hot pan.
Ye Ya walked over and slowly pushed open the door, following the sound of music. Inside, two people were dancing passionately, seemingly unaware of her presence outside. They were really into it, completely lost in their own world.
Looking at the atmosphere, the candles on the cake emitted a soft glow as they smiled at each other, truly wrapped up in their romantic moment. She felt like a mere light bulb in their midst.
Taking a deep breath, she thoughtfully locked the door behind her. "Don't tell him I was here; I'll leave now and not disturb their romance."
With that, Ye Ya clicked her heels as she walked out. She didn't want to burst in like a shrew and cause a scene; that would be pointless.
Now in a panic, the secretary noticed that while Madam's face appeared calm, the sound of her high heels echoed loudly behind her, almost signaling her anger.
Hearing that the music inside had stopped, the secretary hesitated before knocking on the door.
Fu Wan Jing's hand rested on Lu Tianyang's waist, and she felt displeased when someone knocked on the door. How could this person be so inconsiderate?
Lu Tianyang released her, saying, "Come in."
The secretary entered cautiously and said, "President, Madam was just here."
"What? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Where is she?" Lu Tianyang's brows furrowed.
"Madam has already left. She didn't want me to say anything and mentioned that she wouldn't disturb you anymore before she left. She just went," the secretary replied, lowering her head. Seeing the president's expression, she knew things were not good.
"Next time Madam comes, notify me immediately. If you can't even handle this properly, you might as well go back and eat your own food," Lu Tianyang snapped angrily. When Ye Ya was truly upset, she never made a fuss. He could tell that this time, she was genuinely angry.
Lu Tianyang rushed out, dialing Ye Ya's number without a second thought for Fu Wan Jing.
Fu Wan Jing clenched her fists tightly, gritting her teeth: Ye Ya.
Meanwhile, Ye Ya was driving when she saw Lu Tianyang's call coming in. Frustrated, she simply turned off her phone. He had promised to keep his distance from Fu Wan Jing, yet here he was, wrapped up with her.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Ye Ya drove straight to the seaside. She had planned to celebrate his birthday and surprise him with a special outfit that he loved seeing her wear.
As she got out of the car and noticed it was still the one he had given her, she couldn't help but kick it. The car alarm blared in response, only adding to her frustration.
Lu Tianyang was frantic; he kept calling Ye Ya's phone only to find it turned off. Where could that woman have gone? After thinking for a moment, he called Tao Momo and his family but found no trace of Ye Ya.
At the seaside, Ye Ya watched the sun set over the horizon. The sunset shimmered beautifully on the water, casting a golden glow across the waves.
Thinking back to the time when she was with Lu Tianyang, he would wrap his arms around her waist from behind, whispering sweet nothings that seemed to echo in her ears even now. But how could this man be so infuriating?
Fu Wan Jing had ulterior motives; didn’t he realize that she and Xiao Lin were completely innocent? Yet, this man was so jealous. If she danced with Xiao Lin, he would accuse her of being unfaithful.
The more she thought about it, the more frustrated she became. She sat by the sea until dark. Chen Chen was at home with Guo Ma, so she wasn’t worried. Tonight, she really didn’t want to see Lu Tianyang; he could enjoy his time with Fu Wan Jing.
When Lu Tianyang returned home, he anxiously asked, “Guo Ma, has Lady come back yet?”
“No, not yet. I’m surprised she hasn’t returned. This morning, she told me to prepare the ingredients because she wanted to cook steak herself tonight and had already ordered a cake,” Guo Ma said, furrowing her brows as she looked at Lu Tianyang’s expression. Unable to hold back, she asked, “Young Master, did you anger Lady again?”
“Xiao Ya came to the company looking for me and saw me dancing with Wan Jing. I really didn’t do anything wrong, but when Wan Jing brought up the cake, I didn’t refuse,” Lu Tianyang admitted, feeling like a jerk himself.
“Young Master, I’m not trying to criticize you, but Fu Wan Jing clearly still has feelings for you. It’s no wonder Lady would be upset seeing you getting so close to her. It’s already dark and she hasn’t come back yet; what if something happened to her?” Guo Ma’s worry grew with each passing moment.
“She won’t do anything foolish,” Lu Tianyang interrupted Guo Ma immediately. Ye Ya would definitely be fine; besides, Chen Chen was there. She loved her daughter too much to let anything happen.
Though he said that, Lu Tianyang couldn’t help but feel anxious. He directly ordered someone to pull up the surveillance footage from the roads near the company.
