Seeing Lu Tianyang there, Ye Ya felt a surge of anxiety. His anger was palpable, and she feared that if he saw Xiao Lin, it would only escalate. "Xiao Lin, that's enough. You can just drop me off here."
Xiao Lin nodded, "Alright, call me if you need anything."
However, Lu Tianyang could no longer contain himself. He stormed out, confronting her. "How could you be with him?" His frustration was evident; both Xiao Lin and Long Shaotang seemed to have ulterior motives. Lu Tianyang wanted to keep Ye Ya away from those two, yet here she was, rushing to find him when he had been worried about her.
Xiao Lin observed Lu Tianyang's demeanor and thought it unfair to place the blame on Ye Ya. He stepped out of the car and said, "Lu Tianyang, Ye Ya is not your property. She is a person, and if she comes to see me, it's perfectly legitimate. We have nothing to hide."
Lu Tianyang didn't waste any words; he swung his fist directly at Xiao Lin. "Can you stay away from my wife? Do you think you have any right here?"
Xiao Lin took the punch and found Lu Tianyang's behavior utterly unreasonable.
"Xiao Lin, I'm sorry. You should leave quickly," Ye Ya said apologetically. But the tension between the two men had reached a boiling point; they were looking for any excuse to clash, ignoring her pleas.
Especially Lu Tianyang, who was furious enough that his punches seemed to carry a gust of wind with them. If Xiao Lin hadn’t been through his fair share of battles, he might have thought this guy really intended to seriously hurt him. Xiao Lin was no pushover either.
Ye Ya tried to mediate for a while but felt utterly helpless. It was exhausting knowing that these two men were fighting because of her. She felt no pride in the situation; one was a long-time friend and the other her husband—who could she support? Lu Tianyang would likely resent her no matter what.
"Xiao Lin! Lu Tianyang! Stop it!" Ye Ya shouted, but both men were so caught up in their anger that they nearly swung at her.
No matter how furious he got, Lu Tianyang would never direct his anger at Ye Ya; instead, his expression darkened even further.
"Just because you married Ye Ya doesn't mean you can act like you're above everyone else," Xiao Lin retorted. "If she leaves you, I will make sure she finds happiness."
"Don't think for a second that I won't take you down if you dare suggest my wife should leave me," Lu Tianyang shot back angrily, as Ye Ya pulled at him. "Lu Tianyang, please calm down! Xiao Lin, I'm begging you—just go!"
Xiao Lin glanced at Ye Ya, not wanting to make things difficult for her, and nodded. "Xiao Ya, if that bastard treats you poorly, let me know."
"My wife doesn't need you to worry about her. Don't get in my way!" Lu Tianyang really wanted to shove Ye Ya aside but was afraid of hurting her.
Xiao Lin left, and Ye Ya released him. "Lu Tianyang, can you not be so impulsive? Can't you at least listen to me first?"
"Ye Ya, I told you not to look for him. Do you have to be with him?" Lu Tianyang was so angry that he punched a tree, causing leaves to fall.
"I went to find him to confirm something," Ye Ya said anxiously, feeling guilty towards Lu Tianyang.
Lu Tianyang grasped her shoulders and shook her forcefully. "Ye Ya, I've said it many times already—don't go near them! Do you want to be with them? Is it because I'm in your way?"
Ye Ya pushed his hands away. "Lu Tianyang, you're being unreasonable." He was as furious as a lion with its fur bristled, refusing to listen to anything she said. Ye Ya didn’t want to talk to him anymore; he twisted her words no matter what.
"Tell me clearly, do you want to be with Xiao Lin or not? I just stepped out the door, and you went looking for him right after! Ye Ya, are you that eager?" They had fought countless times over this man; couldn't she consider his feelings just once?
"I don't want to talk to you anymore. Think whatever you like; you're completely unreasonable."
"Fine! You want a divorce? Let me tell you, I won't divorce you. You think you can be with him? If you dare put a green hat on me, I can have fun outside too. Ye Ya, I’ll give you credit for having guts." Lu Tianyang had never been this infuriated by a woman before. Was it too much to ask her not to see Xiao Lin?
Lu Tianyang stormed off, and Ye Ya returned to the living room. She rubbed her temples when Guo Ma came out with a cup of tea. "Lady, the young master is actually worried about you. He was frantic when he came back and saw that you weren't here."
Guo Ma had witnessed the earlier scene as well. She had never seen the young master fight for a woman before, which showed how much he cared for the Lady.
“I know, where is Chen Chen?” Ye Ya understood his temper; when she got anxious, she was like a bull charging forward, unable to hear anyone else’s words. In truth, she was just scared of having done something wrong to him, which was why she wanted to confirm things. Was that really a mistake?
As for Xiao Lin, she had once liked him, but that was in the past. There was no possibility left between them; how could he not understand that?
Meanwhile, in the Qi Family, Qi Mu was furious upon hearing that Qi Fan intended to arrange a meeting with someone from the Tao Family. Her fingers trembled with anger. “What did you say? You want to arrange a meeting with that impoverished family? I’m telling you, I absolutely will not agree to you marrying a woman like that.”
“Mom and Dad, can you try to understand Mo Mo? Just because she isn’t a wealthy heiress doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with her. She supports herself, which is so much better than those who rely solely on their families,” Qi Fei interjected.
“Exactly, Mom and Dad, why not meet her first?” Qi Fei had previously accepted favors from Qi Fan and thought that if he said it like this, his future sister-in-law didn’t seem so bad after all.
Qi Mu glanced at them and snorted. She thought it would be better for them to realize the difficulty and back off. “Fine, let’s arrange it then, Qi Fan. But let me make it clear: agreeing to meet doesn’t mean I approve of your decision.”
Qi Fei shot a glance at Qi Fan, thinking that if she were to speak well of him now, the price would be different. Once their parents left, Qi Fan tapped her on the head. “Isn’t that new sports car enough for you, greedy girl?”
“Brother, I’m thinking about your future happiness! What’s a new sports car compared to that? Look at Mom’s attitude; does she think saying a few good words is enough?” Qi Fei didn’t feel she was being unreasonable at all.
“Alright, you little brat. I really do like her and want to marry her. Please help me out in front of Mom,” Qi Fan said with a slight sigh of relief as he prepared to call Tao Momo.
Ye Ya hadn’t come to work; she mentioned feeling unwell. She had no idea what had happened after she left that night. Now, hearing Qi Fan’s call, she leaned back in her chair and placed her feet—far from ladylike—on the desk.
“I’m swamped! What’s up?” Tao Momo rubbed her shoulder as she complained to Qi Fan.
“Don’t be silly; Mom has agreed to meet. Once I have everything arranged, I’ll let you know the address.”
Tao Momo had almost lost hope. "Qi Fan, are you really going to let them meet? Your mother will definitely not agree, and I'm afraid the relationship will only get worse." She thought about how they looked down on her for not coming from a prestigious family. Perhaps once her company developed, they would see her in a new light.
"Mo Mo, I can't wait any longer. I want to marry you." She could wait, but he didn't want to wait anymore.
Tao Momo smiled lightly. "You're being ridiculous. Is there really a need to rush?"
"Of course! How can this not be urgent? I want to make you legal."
"Alright then, I'll wait for your news. I have to get back to work now. Xiao Ya didn't come today; she said she wasn't feeling well, so I really need to get busy." Tao Momo hung up the phone and immersed herself in her intense work. Recently, the company had hired quite a few new people, and the new assistant, Amy, was indeed talented.
At the Lu Family company, the atmosphere was tense. During a meeting, several senior executives were berated by Lu Tianyang for a minor mistake.
Once back in his office, Lu Tianyang threw the documents in his hand with force, causing his secretary to flinch. As he exited the president's office, he heard Zuo Special Assistant ask, "What’s wrong with the president?"
Zuo Kai remained silent, thinking that aside from Lady's matter, no one else would dare provoke the president to such an extent unless they wanted to lose their job.
As for Lady's situation, Zuo Kai felt it was inappropriate to discuss. "Get back to work and stay sharp," he instructed.
Lu Tianyang lit a cigarette and glanced at their group photo on the desk. That woman—what was she thinking? Did she still have Xiao Lin in her heart? He wasn't afraid of Long Shaotang; he believed Ye Ya wouldn't like him. But Xiao Lin had everything—family background, looks—most importantly, they had known each other longer than he had known her.
He had told her countless times to meet Xiao Lin less often, yet she turned around and sought him out instead. Where did that leave him?
Lu Tianyang had smoked countless cigarettes in his office; when Zuo Kai entered, the air was thick with smoke. Anyone unfamiliar might think there was a fire.
"President, how should we handle Long Shaoxue?" Zuo Kai asked cautiously.
“Close the door first, I have a headache. Get out,” Lu Tianyang waved his hand dismissively. After a while, the phone rang. Could it be that woman calling? Did she realize where she went wrong?
Lu Tianyang picked up his phone and saw it wasn’t Ye Ya but Fu Wan Jing. “Hello, Wan Jing.”
Given the recent turmoil at Longmen, Fu Wan Jing had been keeping a close eye on Long Shaotang. She had used many connections and finally found out what was going on.
“Lu Tianyang, don’t be upset. Are you free to grab a drink tonight?” Fu Wan Jing seized the opportunity, thinking that perhaps she could really help Lu Tianyang divorce Ye Ya.
“Sure, see you soon,” Lu Tianyang replied, feeling angry that Ye Ya had gone to find Fu Wan Jing. Hadn’t he made it clear? He had his own life; the world wouldn’t stop spinning just because she was no longer in it.
Fu Wan Jing hung up the phone with a slight smirk. Ye Ya, you don’t even deserve to stand beside Lu Tianyang; he was always meant to be mine.
After carefully getting ready, Fu Wan Jing arrived at the bar. Lu Tianyang had arrived even earlier and was already sitting alone, drowning his sorrows in drink. Fu Wan Jing walked over and sat down beside him. “Lu Tianyang, why didn’t you wait for me?”
“Wan Jing, do all women have to be as stubborn as Ye Ya? Sometimes I really want to just end things with her. Other times, I wish I could just strangle her to save myself the trouble,” Lu Tianyang vented about Ye Ya’s faults. Fu Wan Jing frowned slightly; his conversation always revolved around that woman.
