Ye Ya's eyes widened as she pushed him away and slapped him. "Lu Tianyang, if you touch me again, I'll bite my tongue and die."
Lu Tianyang rubbed his face. "Ye Ya, you're the only one who dares to hit me. Let me tell you, if you want a divorce, dream on."
"Get lost! I don't want to see you," Ye Ya shouted, swinging a pillow at him. Lu Tianyang stood there motionless, letting her vent her frustration. When she finally tired herself out, he sighed. "I can leave, but let me clean up your wound first. I'm sorry."
"Mind your own business! Stop pretending to care." She was fed up with his mixed signals.
"Just listen. If you hurt yourself again, I promise I'll leave right after I clean it up. I won't touch you," Lu Tianyang said helplessly, feeling pained. Ye Ya was no match for him; he had her pinned down. "Lu Tianyang, I hate you."
He looked at her. "Don't move; this will only take a moment. Next time, don't be so stubborn; you'll be the one suffering."
"There won't be a next time! I don't want to see you again," Ye Ya hissed as the cool sensation of the ointment brought her some relief. Once Lu Tianyang finished applying it, he dared not look at her again. "I'll go out first; just calm down. We're not getting a divorce."
After Lu Tianyang left, Ye Ya was fuming. The room was in disarray from her throwing things around, making it look like it had been ransacked when Guo Ma brought breakfast up.
"Lady, are you alright? Young Master has been smoking downstairs. You know how couples are—fighting in bed one moment and making up the next," Guo Ma said as she placed the breakfast down and picked up the pillow that had been thrown on the floor.
"Thank you, Guo Ma," Ye Ya replied without saying much more. The Lu family seemed eager for them to divorce, and she truly didn't know how much longer she could endure this marriage.
However, not long after, Lu Old Man and Du Huiru's family arrived. A servant came up to call for Ye Ya. She frowned, suspecting she knew what was coming.
She got out of bed; Lu Tianyang had tormented her enough already, but she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of the Lu family again—she had had enough.
After freshening up and putting on a decent dress with light makeup, she finally went downstairs.
Du Huiru noticed Ye Ya had just come down and complained, "You’re only getting up now? Do you even deserve to be called a wife? Hurry up and finalize the divorce today. Lu Tianyang, just sign your name; Mom will handle everything else." Ye Ya had already signed her part; once Lu Tianyang added his signature, everything would be settled.
Ye Ya walked slowly, still feeling pain from earlier as she glanced at Lu Tianyang.
"Mom, stop messing around! I'm not divorcing her! Fu Wan Jing—I’ve never even touched her!"
Lu Tianyang had just finished speaking when he was struck by Lu Old Man's cane. "You scoundrel! You haven't even touched her, yet you sleep in the same bed as her. Let me tell you, Wan Jing, you must take responsibility for her. She's an innocent girl, and you've ruined her like this. Do you dare to say you haven't touched her?"
Ye Ya thought to herself, Fu Wan Jing is innocent? She's nothing but a loose woman. No matter how she presents herself, in the eyes of the Lu Family, she will never be respectable.
In the eyes of these wealthy families, Fu Wan Jing, a mistress, flaunted herself while the legitimate wife was being forced into a divorce.
"Mom, I absolutely refuse to divorce. You all should go back," Lu Tianyang said, rubbing his head in pain.
Du Huiru glanced at Ye Ya and suddenly slapped her across the face. "What kind of poison did you feed my son? Are you having second thoughts again?"
When Xiao Lin arrived, he saw Mrs. Lu slap Ye Ya. He rushed over to support her. "Mrs. Lu, why did you hit her?"
Ye Ya covered her face and took a deep breath. "This is the last chance I'm giving you to hit me. From now on, no one from the Lu Family is allowed to touch me again. Lu Tianyang, I've had enough; let's get a divorce."
"Lu Tianyang, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and divorce her," Du Huiru said, looking at Xiao Lin and then back at Lu Tianyang, whose face darkened when he saw Xiao Lin enter.
Lu Tianyang pulled Ye Ya closer. "Let go of my wife."
"Lu Tianyang, don't touch me again," Ye Ya said as she shook off his hand. Hearing Ye Ya's words, Xiao Lin stood in front of her. "Lu Grandpa, if Ye Ya wants a divorce, please stop making things difficult for her. Just because you think she has no backing doesn't mean you can bully her."
"Xiao Ya, don't be afraid," Xiao Lin said as he noticed half of her face was swollen with bruises; a fire ignited within him.
"Ye Ya, come back! Don't stand with him!" Lu Tianyang couldn't contain his anger upon seeing Xiao Lin. Ye Ya looked at them and instinctively tugged at Xiao Lin's shirt, an action that further enraged Lu Tianyang.
Xiao Lin looked at Ye Ya's terrified expression and couldn't help but wonder how much suffering she had endured in the Lu Family. He held her hand firmly. "Lu Tianyang, can't you see that Xiao Ya has already decided to divorce you? Be a man and let her go."
"Lu Tianyang, if she wants to leave, then let her go! What are you hesitating for?" Du Huiru picked up the divorce agreement. "Just sign here and it will be done."
Lu Tianyang clenched his fists tightly. "Ye Ya, do you really want to be with him?"
"Yes, Lu Tianyang, I can't go on like this with you. Please let me go; I'm really exhausted." Ye Ya felt overwhelmed, as if her entire body was entangled in countless threads, making it hard for her to breathe.
"Fine, I'll sign," Lu Tianyang said, looking at her. Did he really want to make her suffer like this?
As she watched Lu Tianyang sign his name, Ye Ya felt an indescribable mix of emotions—relief and a sense of loss at the same time.
Du Huiru picked up the agreement and immediately sent a lawyer to handle the divorce proceedings. That's how wealthy people operate; they simply delegate tasks to get things done.
"Alright, hurry up and move out. Don't ever show your face in front of the Lu Family again. I really don't want to see you, you bad luck charm," Du Huiru thought to herself, feeling a huge sense of relief. She had long wanted them to divorce, and now she could finally rid the Lu Family of this daughter-in-law who had brought them shame.
"The house will be yours; I won't be around anymore. Grandpa, Mom, are you satisfied now? Please stop disturbing her life," Lu Tianyang said before leaving, looking as if he had lost his soul.
The members of the Lu Family departed, leaving Ye Ya behind. Xiao Lin looked at her and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Xiao Ya, don’t worry. Let me take care of you from now on."
Ye Ya shrugged off his hand and shook her head. "Xiao Lin, I'm sorry. Can you please leave? I need some time alone."
"Alright then, I'll come by tonight. You should rest well," Xiao Lin said. He had witnessed how the Lu Family treated her; it was better this way. That jerk Lu Tianyang could never make her happy.
Ye Ya slumped onto the sofa while Guo Ma stood upstairs holding Chen Chen. She had seen the attitudes of the old master and Madam; it seemed that Lady had no choice but to divorce the young master. It was just unfortunate for Chen Chen.
Guo Ma sighed. Was it true that they really had no fate together? She carried the child outside, but Chen Chen seemed to sense that something was wrong between his parents and cried incessantly. Hearing this, Ye Ya hurried over and took Chen Chen in her arms. "Don't cry, Chen Chen. Mommy is here; Mommy will always be with you. No more tears."
Chen Chen continued to cry until finally, Ye Ya joined him in tears until he grew tired and fell asleep in her embrace. Ye Ya's own eyes were swollen from crying.
"Guo Ma, please take Chen Chen upstairs to sleep carefully so you don't wake him," Ye Ya whispered as she looked around the house that would no longer have Lu Tianyang in it. Should she continue living here?
The servants hadn't left yet. If she moved back in with them, there might not be enough space for everyone. Perhaps it was best not to move out just yet; she needed to think of her daughter first. The company hadn’t developed yet, and she couldn’t afford to buy a bigger house with the funds she had.
Her face and body still ached from Du Huiru's slap; it had been quite hard. She had to grab some ice cubes to soothe her face. The servants were all carefully selected by Lu Tianyang, and even though Ye Ya was now divorced from him, they didn’t take advantage of her situation. She understood all too well how fickle human emotions could be.
After Lu Tianyang left, he immediately sought out Qi Fan for a fight. In the gym, Qi Fan was panting lightly, “Damn it, I’m not fighting you anymore. Go practice by yourself.” He thought this guy looked like he was on the verge of collapse; calling him out was just to vent some frustration.
At that moment, a new coach arrived and was quickly knocked down by Lu Tianyang. This made Lu Tianyang feel a bit better inside. “Qi Fan, tell me, what’s wrong with me that Xiao Lin is so eager to divorce me and be with him?”
“What divorce?” Qi Fan spat out his drink, staring at him wide-eyed. “Do you really think you’d be willing to divorce Ye Ya?”
“I’m getting divorced, Qi Fan. She said being with me is exhausting and that she can’t go on like this. I never thought it would come to this.” Lu Tianyang felt regretful, punching the ground. Luckily, he was wearing gloves; Qi Fan watched in shock.
“This is ridiculous! Just because you had a fight, you’re getting divorced? How many people would be divorced if that were the case?” Qi Fan thought it was absurd to end a marriage over an argument.
“I was drunk and ended up in bed with Wan Jing. She saw us, and then Grandpa showed up.” Lu Tianyang cursed himself for drinking so much; he had even tried to make Ye Ya jealous. Now look where it got him—she didn’t want him anymore and insisted on a divorce.
“Damn it! She deserves to divorce you! If it were Tao Momo, she’d probably stab me!” Qi Fan didn’t know how to respond; no matter how intense the argument got, he couldn’t actually get involved with Fu Wan Jing.
“I didn’t touch her! I just wanted to provoke Ye Ya because she was getting too close to Xiao Lin. And now look what happened.”
“That’s taking a joke too far, but it shouldn’t lead to divorce!” Qi Fan took a sip of water, feeling frustrated. He was at a critical point with Tao Momo and was scared as well.
“Every time I make her this upset, now she looks at me with fear in her eyes. Maybe if she’s with Xiao Lin, she’ll be much happier.” After saying this, Lu Tianyang felt as if his heart was breaking; damn his generosity.
