The next day, when Ye Ya woke up, she received a call from Manager Ma, who said he would personally bring the contract over and even offered to lower the price by 10. Ye Ya was taken aback; Manager Ma had previously been unwilling to budge at all. Why was he suddenly willing to drop the price and come over to sign the contract?
Lu Tianyang walked in, and he had indeed said he wouldn’t come in if he didn’t need to. “Xiao Ya, good morning. How did you sleep last night?”
Looking at this man, Ye Ya raised an eyebrow. “Lu Tianyang, did you have something to do with this?”
Lu Tianyang was puzzled. “Wife, I swear on my character that I absolutely did not sneak into your room last night.” He had held back all night.
“I’m talking about the factory contract. Did you have a hand in this? How could Manager Ma be willing to lower the price and say he’s bringing the contract himself?” Besides him, Ye Ya couldn’t think of anyone else.
“Wife, you know I don’t get involved in your company’s matters.” Of course, he didn’t; he had someone else handle it.
Ye Ya huffed. “You don’t get involved? You think I don’t know you sent Amy to keep an eye on me?” Of course, Amy was quite capable and had helped her a lot.
“Wife, isn’t it a good thing that the manager is willing to lower the price? Why do you care so much? Do you want to run away for a few days and leave Chen Chen behind?” At the mention of this matter, Ye Ya still felt a bit guilty and didn’t dare to refute Lu Tianyang’s words.
“Alright, stop sulking so early in the morning. Let me see your foot.” Lu Tianyang thought that since she wanted to start anew, everything should start fresh.
Ye Ya lay back on the bed as he took her foot to examine it, applying ointment with care. “Lu Tianyang, it doesn’t hurt anymore; there’s no need for ointment.” It wasn’t a serious injury in Ye Ya’s eyes.
“No, if it leaves a scar, that would be bad. Look at how careless you are; next time, don’t be so reckless.” Lu Tianyang put away the ointment, thinking that this time there shouldn’t be any issues. “By the way, wife, is there anywhere you want to go?”
“No, there’s no time for that now. Lu Tianyang, I warn you not to make decisions on your own again.” With how busy things were every day, there was no time for outings. Why was he so free? What Ye Ya didn’t know was that Lu Tianyang had squeezed several days’ worth of work into his schedule just to catch up with her.
“Oh,” Lu Tianyang replied with some disappointment. However, after they had breakfast together, he didn’t press her further and personally drove her to work.
When Amy returned, she happened to share the same elevator with her. “Amy, from now on, don’t tell Lu Tianyang anything about my matters. Got it?”
"Yes, I understand," Amy thought to herself. I didn't tell the president; I just sent an email.
Indeed, the kind of person one is can cultivate a certain type of subordinate.
Even a blind person could see that this president was trying to win back his wife. As his employee, it was only natural to help him fulfill his wishes.
Manager Ma personally came over, and Ye Ya, thinking that since the deal was settled, ignored Lu Tianyang's presence. After signing the contract, Tao Momo walked in. "Ya, have you taken care of everything at the factory?"
"I've handled it. I think that bastard Lu Tianyang sent someone to deal with Manager Ma. By the way, how did your meeting with Qi Fan's parents go?"
At the mention of this matter, Tao Momo sighed. "We had originally scheduled it for that night, but Mrs. Qi said she had something else to do and postponed it. She just wants to put on a show for my parents. Now my parents don't even want to meet their family anymore. It's so annoying."
They hadn't even met yet, and she was already trying to assert dominance. What could be more important than the children's matters? Clearly, Mrs. Qi didn't take their marriage seriously at all, which made Tao Ma and Tao Ba upset as well. This was simply unacceptable.
Ye Ya didn't know what advice to give since she herself had divorced Lu Tianyang. "Xiao Ya, let's keep our attitude straight. There's nothing so great about being from a wealthy family. We can only strengthen ourselves so that we won't be looked down upon."
"Yeah, Mrs. Qi looks down on me because I'm not from a prestigious family. One day, they'll regret it," Tao Momo slammed her hand on the table, feeling a bit angry as well; she felt sorry for her parents for making them worry so much.
In the afternoon, just before quitting time, Ye Ya received a call from Lu Tianyang while she was in her office. "Is there something you need? I'm busy."
"Wife, I'm taking you out for dinner; hurry up and come down. I'm downstairs. Of course, if you don't mind, I can come up to your office too," Lu Tianyang said with a slight smile as he looked up at her office; he knew she couldn't escape his grasp.
"Just wait; don't come up yet. I'll be down in a moment; I need to tidy up," Ye Ya conceded defeat to him. This bastard was doing it on purpose—he had come all this way; how could she say no? Besides, she didn't want him showing up at her workplace.
She said she'd be down shortly but took half an hour before finally heading down. If he grew impatient waiting, he could always leave.
Ye Ya was the last one to leave the office and immediately spotted that flashy car of his as he stepped out holding a bouquet of flowers. "Wife, do you like them?"
Ye Ya took a glance at the flowers and said, "Don't buy them, it's a waste of money. We already have a garden at home."
"Alright, I won't buy them, but I can tell you like them," Lu Tianyang replied. If she liked them, he wouldn't mind giving them to her every day.
"Let's go home. Chen Chen must be waiting for me," Ye Ya said. He had brought her here in the morning, and since he hadn't driven his car over, it was clear he wouldn't let her go easily.
"I told Guo Ma that we won't be back for dinner tonight. Don't worry, it's fine if we get back a little later," Lu Tianyang said as he opened the car door for her in a very gentlemanly manner. Ye Ya had no choice but to get in.
"Then let's just grab a bite and hurry home," Ye Ya said while holding the bouquet. She could tell these flowers weren't cheap; each bloom looked freshly opened.
Lu Tianyang smiled, thinking about what she meant by just grabbing a bite.
"Xiao Ya, this is our first dinner together as a fresh start. How can it be casual? You wouldn't want to disappoint me, would you? I've already made arrangements," Lu Tianyang said as he drove. It wasn't far; they were headed to a restaurant near her office.
He hadn't reserved the entire place but had requested a window seat with an excellent view. "Wife, look around; there are many couples here."
Ye Ya glanced around and indeed saw many couples. It struck her as somewhat amusing. "Lu Tianyang, life can be quite ironic sometimes," she remarked before ordering several dishes. "You see if you want anything else, but I think this is enough for two people; we shouldn't waste too much."
Lu Tianyang nodded and added two more dishes before signaling the waiter to leave. "Wife, you remember what I love to eat."
"Who remembers? Those are my favorites. What you like has nothing to do with me," Ye Ya shot him a look. After living together for so long, they were familiar with each other's habits; some things just came naturally.
The meal was quite satisfying. The two extra dishes Lu Tianyang ordered were pushed onto Ye Ya, who insisted he eat more. Lu Tianyang rubbed his belly and said, "Wife, I'm really full! This is the first time I've treated someone to dinner and eaten so cleanly. If this gets out, people will laugh at me for being so stingy."
"As long as I don't laugh at you, that's all that matters. Ordering so much food that we can't finish it would be shameful," Ye Ya replied. With her words, Lu Tianyang felt that even being laughed at was worth it.
Checking the time, Lu Tianyang took her hand and said, "Wife, let's go. I want to take you somewhere."
Ye Ya discovered that the so-called place was actually a movie theater, and a cold sweat broke out on her forehead. "Lu Tianyang, we could have watched a movie at home!"
"This is different, my dear. The three essential steps to wooing someone are flowers, dinner, and a movie. How could we skip the movie? Don't worry, I promise Chen Chen is safe at home. If she knew her parents were out on a date, she would be happy for us," he said as he pulled her inside.
"How cheesy," Ye Ya thought, feeling exasperated. This man really had some strange ideas.
Lu Tianyang hesitated for a moment. "Wife, then you come up with a less cheesy way for me to pursue you. It's not easy for me! Now let's just watch the movie."
As if that wasn't enough, they ended up watching a horror film. Ye Ya pinched his shoulder hard. "Lu Tianyang, are you doing this on purpose?"
Lu Tianyang had booked a couple's seat. He glanced at the people around them and smirked wickedly in the dark. "Wife, look at everyone else; they’re all watching too. Really, this movie isn’t scary."
Just as he finished speaking, a scream echoed through the theater, mostly from women. Ye Ya was also a woman; she could be scared too.
"Lu Tianyang, can we not watch this?" Ye Ya tugged at his arm.
"Wife, it’s fine. If you’re scared, just hold onto me tighter," Lu Tianyang said slyly. Okay, he was doing this on purpose; he wanted to see how couples in the theater were handling it—if they could do it, why couldn’t he?
He wrapped his arms around her tightly. The movie wasn’t particularly terrifying; in fact, the plot was quite engaging. Gradually, everyone seemed to relax and focus on the film.
However, as night fell and the eerie atmosphere set in—with the theater being dark and that kind of music playing—it sent chills down their spines.
Ye Ya clutched his shirt tightly, torn between wanting to see the plot and being scared. This jerk had clearly brought her to watch this kind of movie on purpose.
Lu Tianyang enjoyed seeing her cling to him like that. He took her hand and intertwined their fingers. To him, the movie wasn’t scary at all; it was obviously fake. Besides, he couldn’t be bothered to critique the plot. The quality of the film didn’t matter; what mattered was that his shameless goal had been achieved. He believed all the men in the theater were thinking the same thing.
When the movie ended, it was already past ten o'clock. Ye Ya watched as people gradually dispersed and turned to him with lingering trepidation. "Lu Tianyang, let’s hurry up and leave."
"Alright, my dear, I'll stay with you. There's nothing to be afraid of," he said, a perfect and legitimate reason to take her out more often.
Sitting in the car, Ye Ya noticed that his arm had turned dark from her grip. "Serves you right! I absolutely won't apologize. Who told you to take me to see such movies?"
Lu Tianyang glanced at his arm; it was just a bruise, and it didn't hurt much, though it did look a bit pitiful. "Honey, do you really not like watching them?"
"I was almost scared to death! We should watch less of those in the future; they make me anxious at night," Ye Ya replied honestly, feeling both excited and frightened—a contradictory feeling.
Lu Tianyang reached over to fasten her seatbelt. "But I'm here with you at night, so what’s there to be afraid of? I actually want to take you to see more."
"No way! There are other types of movies besides those; we can watch something else," Ye Ya quickly rejected the idea, fearing that if she watched another horror film, she wouldn't even dare go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. That would be utterly ridiculous.
"Alright then, we'll watch something different next time," Lu Tianyang agreed readily. As long as there was a next time, they could decide what to watch later.
Ye Ya realized she had fallen for his trick; how did she end up agreeing to watch something else? That sly fox!
