Ye Ya grew increasingly angry as she thought about the situation. Was this some kind of ploy? Frustrated, she pushed him away and returned to her room, with Lu Tianyang naturally following her inside.
“Wife, are you mad?” Lu Tianyang scratched his head, thinking that he still wanted to see her. Otherwise, why would he have climbed over the wall to get here?
Ye Ya ignored him and didn’t want to talk anymore. Feeling irritated, she said, “Lu Tianyang, I’m tired. Don’t disturb me while I sleep.” She turned over onto the bed, pulled the blanket over herself, and prepared to sleep.
“It’s only ten o’clock,” Lu Tianyang said, feeling that it was still early and there was plenty of time for more meaningful activities. He sat on the edge of the bed, pulled back her blanket, and made a funny face at her, leaving Ye Ya both amused and exasperated.
“Lu Tianyang, I’m really tired,” Ye Ya said as she couldn’t help but yawn to emphasize her fatigue.
Lu Tianyang climbed onto the bed beside her. “Wife, go ahead and sleep. I promise not to move; I’ll just hold your hand.”
“Taking advantage again! Don’t forget, I’m not obligated to you anymore; we’re divorced,” Ye Ya said as she tried to pull her hand away but found it firmly held in his grip.
Speaking of divorce made Lu Tianyang feel extremely frustrated. “Wife, let’s just get the certificate already. Come on, don’t make this difficult.”
“You just want me to marry you again. I think this life is pretty good as it is,” Ye Ya replied. She felt more relaxed than when they were married; at least the Lu family wouldn’t come knocking at their door all the time, and she didn’t have to worry about compatibility issues anymore. Life felt free.
“If you’re not with me, who do you want to be with? Let me tell you, Chen Chen can only have one dad—me! Don’t even think about anyone else,” Lu Tianyang insisted stubbornly as he loosened his grip on her hand.
Ye Ya leaned against his shoulder and didn’t want to answer him anymore. After a while, she fell asleep.
Lu Tianyang smiled bitterly as he tucked her in properly and let her rest beside him. It was nice; at least she still liked to lean against him while sleeping like before. However, they definitely needed to get that certificate; otherwise, he wouldn’t feel at ease.
In the middle of the night, as the temperature dropped, Ye Ya couldn’t help but snuggle closer to Lu Tianyang. He certainly didn’t mind and took the opportunity to hold her tightly in his arms.
It felt a bit warm like this, and Ye Ya mumbled sleepily, “It’s hot.”
“Wife, it’s fine. Just sleep,” Lu Tianyang said as he loosened his embrace slightly to make her comfortable. During the day, she had been working like a maniac; Amy had been working overtime every day since he sent her there. He thought it would be better if another capable person could be sent over to help her out.
However, this time he could use Qi Fan’s name for it; that way, she wouldn’t have any reason to refuse.
Look at that—he clearly wanted to help her but had to find a good excuse for it, afraid that she might reject him. Honestly speaking, being her man wasn’t easy.
Ye Ya was used to waking up early but felt embarrassed when she saw how closely she was wrapped around Lu Tianyang like two twisted strands of dough. Afraid of waking him up, she tried to gently remove his hand but ended up waking him instead.
“After holding me all night, isn’t that enough? Hurry up and get out of bed,” Ye Ya said as she nudged him. However, he didn’t let go; they were stuck together like they were glued.
“What do you mean you’ve had enough of me, Ye Ya? Let me tell you, I could hold you forever and still not feel satisfied.” Lu Tianyang gently flicked her forehead with his finger. Ye Ya winced in pain and frowned. “Once I turn into an old lady, you’ll start to dislike me. Men are all the same, really. Alright, let’s just enjoy ourselves for now.” She decided not to dwell on that issue any longer; the future was long, and they could talk about it later. For now, she needed to focus on the present.
“If you become an old lady, I won’t like that either. Just let me hold you for a bit. Did you sleep well last night? You didn’t wake up once with me around,” Lu Tianyang said proudly, kissing her hand. He felt invigorated, and certain parts of him were even more energized.
“Lu Tianyang, pull back! I need to get up!” Ye Ya exclaimed as he held her tightly. When he exerted a little more force, she felt something that was not very pleasant. “My parents are definitely furious about this. Even though our family isn’t as wealthy as yours, I don’t need their money. In this situation, is there any chance for me and Qi Fan?” Tao Momo sighed. Her parents were right; even if she married Qi Fan, they wouldn’t have a good life together. Their current attitude was resolute; they would never agree to the marriage.
“Mo Mo, don’t rush things. Once our company grows, the Qi family won’t dare look down on you anymore. Fortunately, Qi Fan is sincere about you. For your happiness, you need to put in some effort too; true love shouldn’t be so easily given up,” Ye Ya said. She had seen how Qi Fan felt about Tao Momo; since they were in love, there shouldn’t be any difficulty they couldn’t overcome. Besides, Tao Momo was an exceptional person whom the Qi family’s narrow-mindedness failed to recognize.
In the afternoon, Qi Fan arrived at the company and discreetly sent someone in to help them out. If they were going to do something like this, it had to be done quietly—someone could submit their company’s resume without making a fuss. This way, she wouldn’t have to struggle so much.
Lu Tianyang often complained that Ye Ya was too busy and didn’t have time for him. Yet here he was, finding it difficult to see Tao Momo; at least he got to spend every day with Ye Ya.
When Tao Momo saw him, she didn’t show any particular expression but remained polite. Qi Fan wasn’t in a hurry either; he waited outside for her to finish work.
Qi Fan was handsome, and there were many unmarried girls in the company who would have made a move on him if he weren’t their boss's man.
Ye Ya looked at Qi Fan and walked into the office. “Mo Mo, go talk to Qi Fan for a bit; don’t just keep yourself busy—go on!”
“Xiao Ya, I have nothing to say to him; seeing him just annoys me,” Tao Momo said with a slight frown, feeling quite troubled inside.
“Mo Mo, trust me; go talk to him. You haven’t smiled today,” Ye Ya advised her as someone who had been through similar situations before. It was better to express what was on her mind than keep it bottled up.
“Fine then; I’ll go.” Tao Momo tidied up her desk; she had no inspiration left for the day anyway. She stepped out while Ye Ya exchanged glances with Qi Fan.
Qi Fan had been waiting for her and quickly followed her into the elevator. He grabbed her hand and said, “Mo Mo, are you still angry? Let me take you out for something delicious.”
“Childish,” she thought—did he really think that giving her a treat would solve everything?
Qi Fan smiled and held onto her hand tightly without letting go. “Even if you’re angry, you still need to eat. Come on now; don’t be upset—it’ll hurt my heart if you’re upset.”
Tao Momo shook off his hand abruptly. “Who says I’m angry? Who says I won’t eat? I’m going home to eat what my dad cooks! Don’t follow me; my parents don’t want to see you or anyone from your family right now.”
“I’m sorry,” Qi Fan said as he followed behind her. In truth, she had every right to be upset; he thought everything would go smoothly but didn’t expect his mother’s attitude to remain so firm.
Tao Momo sighed again. “Qi Fan, my mind is all jumbled right now. Let’s take some time apart to cool off and think about whether we’re really suited for each other.”
“No way! I can’t agree to that.” Just like Lu Tianyang said, never let a woman calm down—if she did, she might realize she could live perfectly well without him and that he had no reason to exist in her life anymore.
Qi Fan abruptly shoved her into the car, angrily locked the doors, and drove off.
“Qi Fan, what the hell do you want?” Tao Momo fumed, feeling murderous. Didn’t he see that she was in a bad mood?
“Calm down. I’ll give you some time,” Qi Fan insisted stubbornly. He didn’t care; if she needed to calm down, he would just sit beside her and wait.
“You’re insane! How can I think clearly like this? I don’t care; let me out of the car! I want to go home!”
Qi Fan remained silent, and after a while, the car came to a stop. “Mo Mo, didn’t you say you wanted to eat barbecue last time? Let’s have it tonight.”
In this situation, he was actually thinking about barbecue? Tao Momo felt like she was going crazy. Didn’t he see they were arguing?
“I’m not going! If you want to eat, go by yourself!” Tao Momo struggled to get out of the car, but Qi Fan wouldn’t open the door.
Qi Fan grasped her hand firmly. “Tao Momo, you can be angry, but you can’t ignore me.”
Tao Momo was no match for him and was pinned firmly in her seat. With them so close together, she could even hear his breathing.
