Tao Momo looked at him, his demeanor as domineering as a mountain bandit. She took a deep breath and said, "Qi Fan, let me go."
Qi Fan released her and even adjusted her clothes. "Mo Mo, you need to be reasonable. You can't just stop wanting me because you're angry. That's not fair."
Who’s not being reasonable here? Tao Momo was furious. "Qi Fan, how am I not being reasonable? Have I been messing with you? Have I done anything to you? With your mother acting like that, have you thought about how my parents would feel? Fine, go find someone who can reason with you; I'm not worthy of you."
After saying that, Tao Momo unbuckled her seatbelt, but the car door was locked. She couldn't get out even if she wanted to. Frustrated, she pounded on the door, desperately wanting to distance herself from this man.
"Mo Mo, I'm sorry! That's not what I meant. I'm just afraid you won't talk to me anymore because of this. Mo Mo, please stop hitting the door; you might hurt your hand." Qi Fan watched her anxiously and quickly unlocked the car door. As soon as she got out, Tao Momo dashed away. Originally, Qi Fan had intended to take her out for a meal.
"Qi Fan, I don't want to see you! Please stop following me!" Tao Momo turned around and shouted at him, but he ignored her and continued to follow.
"Mo Mo, don't be angry. If it helps, you can hit me instead." Qi Fan didn't care about the onlookers; he just wanted her mood to improve.
Tao Momo initially tried to ignore him, but this man stuck to her like glue until she could no longer hold back her frustration.
She turned around and started hitting him with punches and kicks. Qi Fan furrowed his brow but remained silent. However, as they continued, it was he who remained unscathed while she ended up crying. What was happening? Wasn't he supposed to be the one getting hit?
"Mo Mo, what's wrong? Did it hurt your hand? If you want, we can find something for you to hit." Qi Fan had never dealt with a woman in distress before and was at a loss for what to do.
Oh right, Lu Tianyang had said that when a woman is angry, she should be allowed to vent; once she's done venting, everything will be fine. Women are tough on the outside but soft-hearted inside.
"I don't want to see you! Just go away! Who told you to follow me?" Tao Momo was nearly driven mad by him. What did he mean by finding something for her to hit? Was she really that unreasonable?
Seeing her red eyes made Qi Fan feel worse than being hit himself. He pulled her into his embrace tightly. "I'm sorry! I'm the jerk here. Mo Mo, I really don’t know how to make it up to you so you'll forgive me. I apologize on behalf of my mom, but I love you! I won’t allow you to leave my side."
"Hmph! You think saying nice things will work? Qi Fan, my parents will never agree to us being together, and neither will yours. Let's just break up." Thinking of Qi Mu and then her own parents made her wonder if they could ever be together after everything that had happened.
"No way! You wish! Let me tell you this: you're mine now! If you're not with me, who else will you be with?" He was furious; just because their parents disagreed didn’t mean they had to separate.
"Qi Fan, I'm not your wife! Why do you care so much?"
Sometimes, arguments between couples arise without any reason. Tao Momo felt wronged and, as she spoke, tears began to flow.
Because she cared, it was especially painful at times.
"Don't cry. Mo Mo, why are you crying? Do you really not want to see me? Am I really that detestable?" Qi Fan thought to himself, feeling helpless as he realized he had made her cry.
He held her shoulders tightly. "Mo Mo, stop crying. If it bothers you so much, I can leave. How about that, my dear? Please don’t cry."
Hearing his words only made Tao Momo cry harder. Qi Fan hurriedly wiped her tears away, nervously saying, "Alright, stop crying. If you keep crying, you won’t look pretty anymore. If you don’t want to see me, I’ll just go."
"You’re starting to dislike me now, Qi Fan? Just go away! Go far away! Who wants to see you?"
"If you stop crying, I won’t go anywhere. I’m the jerk here for making you unhappy. I’ll just endure it and won’t come looking for you."
Tao Momo felt like she could spit blood in frustration. Was this how one comforted someone? Was he a fool?
After crying for a while, Tao Momo took his tie and wiped her tears with it. "If I dirty your clothes, I'm not paying for them."
"It’s fine; if they get dirty, they get dirty. I don’t care about that. How about we eat something?" Qi Fan looked at her tear-streaked face and felt like a total idiot.
"Let me starve then; at least I won't have to see something that annoys me." Tao Momo angrily wiped her tears with his tie; it was his fault she was crying.
"Come on, don’t cry. I’ve made reservations; let’s eat first." Qi Fan took her hand and led her toward the restaurant. Tao Momo hesitated, "I shouldn’t go looking like this."
"It’s fine; who would dare look at you? I’d take care of them," Qi Fan said as he noticed her anger had subsided a bit. He breathed a sigh of relief; once she was fed, her mood might improve and she wouldn’t want him to leave anymore.
Tao Momo shot him a glance; he acted all high and mighty as if he enjoyed bullying her.
"Mo Mo, do you still want to eat? You mentioned wanting barbecue before." Qi Fan handed her the menu. Tao Momo had only brought it up casually, not expecting him to remember.
“However, eating this will make you gain weight.” Tao Momo couldn’t help but worry. Women are all the same; even the most beautiful ones worry about getting fat, even when their figures are already perfect.
“It’s fine, you’re not fat at all. Just eat.” They say that good food can lift one’s spirits, and he hoped that after she finished eating, she wouldn’t be so upset anymore.
Qi Fan was indeed a thoughtful boyfriend, taking care of her well. When Tao Momo was halfway through her meal, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID. “Mom.”
“Mo Mo, how long until you get home? Your dad is waiting for you to cook dinner.” Tao Mama thought that at this hour, her daughter should be back.
“Mom, I have to work late tonight. Don’t wait for me to eat.” After saying this, Tao Momo looked at the person sitting across from her. She still didn’t have the courage to tell her mom that she was with Qi Fan, fearing that her mother would immediately ask her to come home.
“Oh, I see. Then save some food for you. Don’t stay out too late.” Tao Mama believed her, thinking that it wasn’t unusual for her daughter to work late.
“Okay, Mom. Bye.” After hanging up the phone, Tao Momo felt a bit guilty. “What are you looking at? Do you think my mom cares about you as a son-in-law? As if there are no other men besides you.”
“Mo Mo, I didn’t say anything. Of course, I know I’m the jerk here for making you angry. It’s my fault; I cherish you the most.” Qi Fan sighed softly. He just liked her; what could he do?
Tao Momo put down her chopsticks, losing her appetite. “Qi Fan, what do you plan to do now? My parents are very unhappy with your family, and your parents are even more dissatisfied with me. Being together like this doesn’t bring us happiness.”
