Zuo Kai smiled as he looked at her nervous little face, unable to resist giving her a gentle pinch. "Don't worry, he will agree sooner or later."
However, Long Shaoxue was still uneasy. After all, she knew what kind of person her brother was. "Zuo Kai, I'm afraid my brother will cause you trouble. What should we do then?"
"There's no need to worry. Come on, you're staying at my place tonight." Zuo Kai had made up his mind and wasn't afraid of Long Shaotang causing him trouble. Besides, he was the one who wanted to marry Long Shaoxue, not the other way around. As long as Long Shaoxue stood firm, he wouldn't give up, and he believed no one could separate them.
Separation only happened when love wasn't strong enough.
For the sake of convenience, Zuo Kai took Long Shaoxue back to the Lu's Equipment apartment. Meanwhile, Long Shaotang was furious and ready to explode. Upon seeing Zuo Kai, he would surely want to teach him a lesson.
"Long Shaoxue, this place might not be as beautiful as Longmen. Do you mind?" Zuo Kai turned on the lights in the staff dormitory of Lu's Equipment. The two-bedroom apartment was actually quite nicely decorated.
"I don't mind, Zuo Kai. You know I don't care about these things as long as you're sincere with me." Long Shaoxue smiled, and that smile left Zuo Kai momentarily stunned. He couldn't help but look away. "Long Shaoxue, why don't you go take a shower? After that, get some rest."
Zuo Kai was still pondering how to handle things when he saw Long Shaotang tomorrow.
Long Shaoxue nodded but then remembered she didn't have any sleepwear. "Zuo Kai, I don't have any clothes."
Zuo Kai glanced around; he hadn't thought about bringing her here. "How about you wear mine? It’ll have to do; I've never had a woman here before."
Long Shaoxue raised an eyebrow. "So you’ve never brought any other women up here before?"
He lightly tapped her nose. "What nonsense are you talking about? There’s no one else but you." As he spoke, Zuo Kai handed her a shirt; given her petite frame, it would fit her just fine.
Hearing his words made Long Shaoxue feel sweet inside. She took the shirt from him and quietly walked into the bathroom.
Oh, I forgot to mention, the bathroom here has frosted glass. Really, Zuo Kai didn't dare to entertain that thought, but after taking a glance, he found it hard to look away.
He put down his phone and walked over. Damn it, she hadn’t locked the door. Well, Long Shaoxue thought, there are only two of us here; is there really a need to lock it? After all, she wanted to trust Zuo Kai.
Long Shaoxue was washing her hair, her eyes half-closed when she was startled. “Y-you how did you get in here?”
Zuo Kai glanced around and grabbed the showerhead. “Be careful not to get soap in your eyes. It’s fine; I’ll help you wash.” Her hair was in great condition.
But what was going on? She wasn’t wearing any clothes!
“Alright, don’t move around too much. Hurry up and wash; don’t catch a chill.” Zuo Kai was very meticulous as he washed her hair and then handed her a towel to dry off.
“Zuo Kai, you should go out. I can wash myself,” Long Shaoxue said, feeling uncomfortable under his fiery gaze as she pushed him, trying to get him to leave.
Zuo Kai wrapped his arms around her waist. “Alright, stop messing around. Be good; let me help you wash. Otherwise, you’ll catch a cold and then complain about not taking medicine.”
“I’m not a child,” Long Shaoxue protested.
Zuo Kai chuckled. He found this situation quite amusing. Ignoring Long Shaoxue’s protests, he tenderly washed her inch by inch, causing her face to turn crimson.
As the bath continued, how could Zuo Kai resist such a tempting feast? Long Shaoxue felt completely at his mercy. “Zuo Kai, you’ve made it dirty again; it’s like I haven’t even washed.”
“It’s fine; I’m here to help you. If you’re tired, just close your eyes and rest for a bit,” Zuo Kai said, still full of energy as he continued to care for Long Shaoxue and clean her up thoroughly.
Lying in bed, Long Shaoxue couldn't help but ask, "Zuo Kai, aren't you afraid of my brother?"
Zuo Kai covered her with a blanket. "For you, I'm not afraid. Now, go to sleep. Weren't you just saying you were tired?" He kissed her forehead. Long Shaotang was the worst, but he couldn't really eat him, right? Zuo Kai still had some confidence in this matter.
Long Shaoxue held his hand and nodded. "I won't let my brother bully you either."
Zuo Kai pinched her nose playfully. "Silly girl, just sleep."
The next day, as soon as Long Shaoxue turned on her phone, she received a call from Long Shaotang. Hearing her brother's voice, which roared like a lion, she frowned. "Brother, what era are we in? It's a free world; I just like Zuo Kai."
Long Shaotang took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to strangle Zuo Kai. "Long Shaoxue, you come home right now!" This was outrageous; he didn't care what others did, but his own sister absolutely couldn't act recklessly. She had completely lost herself and was with a man.
Zuo Kai took the phone from her. "Long Brother, there's no need to get angry. I will bring Long Shaoxue back."
Long Shaotang cursed Zuo Kai's ancestors on the other end of the line. Long Shaoxue couldn't help but take the phone back. "Brother, stop cursing! I want to be with Zuo Kai; if you keep yelling at me, I won't come back!"
After saying that, Long Shaoxue hung up the phone, feeling a bit worried. Her brother's words had been too harsh.
"Zuo Kai, I'm sorry. My brother has a bit of a temper," Long Shaoxue said apologetically. She thought about how angry he was and realized it wouldn't help to go back now. "Zuo Kai, let's not go back for now; if we do, my brother will definitely make your life miserable."
Seeing her guilty expression, Zuo Kai gently scratched her nose. "Long Shaoxue, I'm fine. I'm a man; sooner or later, I'll have to face your brother anyway. After all, he's your family. You don't need to worry."
"Zuo Kai, you're so nice." Long Shaoxue thought she should do something to make it up to Zuo Kai. She looked at him and asked, "Do we have any ingredients in the fridge?"
“Are you hungry?” Zuo Kai thought that if he was, they should go out for breakfast, and then he would take her back to school.
Earlier, when he was with Long Shaoxue, he had already informed Lu Tianyang. In truth, he wasn’t really afraid of Long Shaotang; after all, the person he married was Long Shaoxue.
“I’ll take a look. I’ll make you breakfast,” Long Shaoxue, the young lady from the Long family, said. Although she had never done any housework, it didn’t mean she couldn’t cook.
To be honest, Zuo Kai had never tasted Long Shaoxue’s cooking. He even doubted whether this young lady could actually make anything.
Long Shaoxue opened the refrigerator and found only some eggs and a handful of greens. She glanced at Zuo Kai and asked, “Do you have any noodles at home?”
Men like Zuo Kai typically didn’t cook; the ingredients in his fridge were merely for show. “Does instant noodles count?” he replied.
Long Shaoxue shot him a look and sighed lightly. “Zuo Kai, do you just eat instant noodles at home?”
“Yeah, sometimes I’m too lazy to order takeout and just boil some noodles. You have that kind of taste?” Zuo Kai admitted that while he lacked many skills, making instant noodles was something he excelled at.
“Forget it. Just bring me two packs; I’ll make you a different kind of instant noodles.” Long Shaoxue had no intention of eating his usual instant noodles.
